June 30, 2017 Morning

Good morning! Where did June go? Today starts Independence Day Weekend. Grey, cloudy and 67 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south breeze at 8 mph. The dew point is 65 degrees. Sticky this morning, at times last night it was difficult to get to sleep last night. The skies will clear tomorrow around 4 am.

Leaving in a bit, just got to return that firework to Walmart. I hope they take it back so I can buy a smaller set of them. Then I also need to Blueberry Muffin mix I forgot to buy. Wish me luck. And get to work in a few hours. Then off to Moose River Plains.

Today will have showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 4pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high of 84 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 70 at 2pm. South wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies and a high of 84 degrees. The record high of 98 was set in 1964.

The sun will set at 8:37 pm with dusk around 9:11 pm, which is 7 seconds earlier than yesterday. At sunset, look for light rain and light thunderstorms and conditions and 80 degrees. The dew point will be 70 degrees. There will be a south-southwest breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 15 hours and 15 minutes of daytime, an increase of 37 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 9pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low of 70 degrees at 5am. 10 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 70 at 6pm. South wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. In 2016, it got down to 58 degrees with thunderstorm and thunderstorm rain and hail and rain and heavy fog and fog and mist and cloudy skies. The record low of 45 occurred back in 1978.

On this day in 1971, Ohio ratifies the 26th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, reducing the voting age to 18, thereby putting the amendment into effect. Also in 1934, The Night of the Long Knives, Adolf Hitler’s violent purge of his political rivals in Germany, takes place. Fortunately, we only have obnoxious rhetoric to that impact in our country today.

Looking ahead, there are 2 weeks until National Nude Day when the sun will be setting at 8:31 pm with dusk at 9:05 pm. On that day in 2016, we had thunderstorm, rain, partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 87 and 73 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 83 degrees. We hit a record high of 99 back in 1995.

Been thinking about getting a new cellphone. Just another basic model under $50 but it must have an FM radio and preferably more memory and a better camera. I want a phone I can do more Instagram on and get nice pictures of my summer vacation and also be able to install Uber so when I’m stuck late at work I can easily get a ride home after 11:30 and not have to worry about hitting a deer due to drowsy driving.
