January 20, 2017 Evening

Happy Weekend! Going home time. Buses are running, the lights are still running, and the sun set. We have a new president with new ideas. Traffic is moving smoothly. Other than that, the weekend is here under partly cloudy skies and 40 degrees in City of Albany. There is a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. The skies will clear Wednesday around 4 am.

Tonight will have a chance of rain, mainly between 8pm and midnight. Cloudy, with a low of 38 degrees at 7pm. 24 degrees above normal. South wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2016, it got down to 16 degrees under mostly clear skies. The record low of -18 occurred back in 1994.

Sounds like a nice day. I might go out hiking locally, I got to consider my options. I could go camping but I don’t think that is likely. Not sure where I will go but I have a lot of options.

In four weeks on February 17 the sun will be setting at 5:30 pm, which is 36 minutes later then tonight. In 2016 on that day, we had snow and temperatures between 37 and 28 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 35 and 18 degrees. The record high of 60 degrees was set back in 1981.

Looking ahead, Presidents Day is in 1 month, St. Patrick’s Day is in 8 weeks, Good Friday is in 12 weeks, Arbor Day is in 14 weeks, Cinco de Mayo is in 15 weeks and Memorial Day Weekend is in 18 weeks.

January 20, 2017 8 AM Update

Still a very dark and gray morning, somewhat mild with temperatures around 36. We are looking at some clearingΒ around noontime with temperatures around 42 degrees. Β I am hoping to have some sun today, because the weekend weather looks to be mild but not that sunny. Best chance for sun this weekend is Saturday afternoon, but not much sun all things said and done. But it will be mild.

Not a lot of traffic heading downtown today.Β Things are going smoothly. But it definately is a fairly gray day. And without the coffee, i’m in kind of a haze.

Kind of tired this morning, as I didn’t have any coffee and somehow I didn’t make it to bed before 11 PM.Β i really should try to be in bed earlier so I get enough sleep. At least it’s a Friday and I can get to bed earlier tonight. I will buy some coffee this weekend, maybe tomorrow if I go out. I’m not sure, but Sunday is the Save the Pine Bush hike.

Noon-time today, it will be President Donald Trump.Β I don’t expect a lot of changes but we will have to see. Maybe he will work with Congress to get some new laws passed and move forward some creative new solutions. For at least the next two years, there won’t be as much partisan grid lock. I think it’s good that we are getting some new leadership in Washington, as change is good, even if I’m not totally ready to embrace the direction the Republicans want to take our country.

The sun will set at 4:54 pm with dusk around 5:25 pm, which is 1 minutes and 15 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 9 hours and 35 minutes of daylight, an increase of 1 minutes and 56 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of rain, mainly before 1am. Cloudy, with a low of 36 degrees at 12am. 21 degrees above normal. South wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2016, it got down to 16 degrees under mostly clear skies. The record low of -18 occurred back in 1994.

There are 1 month until Presidents Day when the sun will be setting at 5:34 pm with dusk at 6:03 pm. The average high temperature is 32 degrees, with a record high of 61 in 1895. Hopefully it will be closer to the temperatures of 1895 then normal.
