On this day in 1955, severe flooding across the northeastern portion of our country caused by Hurricane Diane claims 200 lives. Mostly forgotten now, it devastated the Poconos of Pennsylvania, along with much of Connecticut and Massachusetts as rivers overflowed their banks and dams failed, flooding whole towns.
