February 2016 End of Night

It’s dropped down to 39 degrees and the breeze has picked up a bit. Did my evening walk, it was pleasant but the clouds have creeped in and we have a few snow flurries falling. Wind is expected to pick up this evening.

Tired and heading to bed shortly. But in the meantime, sort of laying in bed watching the PBS Newshour. As much as I’m not crazy about television, pictures do help tell a story about what is happening in the world.

Looking forward to the bright and sunny start to March. 6:29 sunrise and 6 AM first light means a bright start, at least by the time I get up.

We’ve closed out February 2016. Warm, long summer nights can’t be that far around the corner. Good night.

February 29, 2016 Night

Good evening. A pleasant evening for the extended day in February with temperatures around 35 degrees under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Calm wind.

All and all I think it’s been a pretty good if not anticlimactic day. Things generally went well, especially for it being a Monday. I’m on my way home, then I’ll probably go for the evening walk.

Depending on the clouds, it shouldn’t be a bad night for looking at the stars. Tonight we will have a Waining Gibbous MoonΒ with 53% illuminated. It will rise at 11:45 pm. TheΒ Last Quarter Moon is tomorrowΒ and the New Moon is on March 9th.

Tonight we are looking at a low around 25 degrees and a chance of snow showers but generally partly cloudy for most of the nights. The breeze will pick up later.

Partly cloudy conditions continue tomorrow, with temperatures expected to be a seasonable 38 degrees, which is about normal for March 1st.

Tomorrow the sun will rise at 6:28 am with the first light at 6:00 am, which is 1 minutes and 38 seconds earlier then today. It should be a bright and sunny morning, making it easy to get up and going for work.

Tonight will have 12 hours and 43 minutes of darkness,Β a decrease of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over last night. In about three weeks we will see less darkness then light, which will be a nice change but also remember that Daylight Savings Time starts one week from Sunday on the 13th.

I hope you had a pretty good extended month of February. It’s been a pretty mild month this year, but it’s typically the harshest month of the year at least on the Albany area.

February 29, 2016 Afternoon

Good afternoon! Currently 45 degrees and mostly sunny but breezy with a 21 mph west-northwest wind, with gusts up to 37 mph. Throughout the afternoon, we expect mostly to sunny conditions but temperatures dropping a few degrees. Looking for temperatures around 41 when the sun sets.

Tonight the sun will set at 5:44 pm with darkness around 6:12 pm, which is 1 minutes and 14 seconds later than yesterday. In four weeks on March 28 the sun will be setting at 7:17 pm (Daylight Savings Time), which is 1 hour and 32 minutes later then today.

Tonight we will have a Waning Gibbous Moon with 53% illuminated. It will rise at 11:45 pm. The Last Quarter Moon is tomorrow and the New Moon is on March 9th.

Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low around 25. Southwest wind 7 to 15 mph becoming west after midnight.

I hope your Monday is going well. Have a great rest of your afternoon …
