Good Evening – August 1, 2021

Good evening! Made it back home safely. ๐Ÿก

It was a nice vacation, and truth be told unpacking is no more difficult than any weekend trip ๐Ÿ’ผ but I’ve been moving slowly getting things unpacked especially in my head ๐Ÿค•. Been wasting my time flipping through social media trying to get my mind off what is coming tomorrow.

Rain and 62 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” Calm wind. The dew point is 61 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 3 am. I have my truck fully unpacked but the kayak ๐Ÿ›ถ is still on the roof which means it will be very wet when I finally remove it.

It was a nice trip back, even though at times it poured. ๐Ÿ’ฆ Sometimes it rained so hard, usually when I was either outside hiking or away from my truck or when I wanted to paddle and fish on the Whitney Point Reservoir. ๐ŸŽฃ I did get sweet corn ๐ŸŒฝ at Price’s Dairy and it was good, and checked out the Otselic Valley which was pretty but somewhat unremarkable rural farm country like so many valleys in that part of the Central Leatherstocking region of the state. Get home and you miss that gentle odor of cattle like you find all over the Finger Lakes and Central NY from the thousands of small and large dairies and beef operations scattered along the fertile valleys.

I do really like the deep rural country ๐Ÿฎ like in some places in the upper valley of the Otselic River. It just is really a different world, so remote and a different way of living. ๐Ÿ—ป I’d sure like to live in a place kind of like that in the future – but probably up in the hills where land is cheaper.

Been going through my photos ๐Ÿ“ธ and dash cam video ๐Ÿ“น and will be posting more in the next few days. I got some really nice pictures not yet posted to Facebook or anywhere else. And countless other stories to tell.

Good Afternoon – July 29, 2021

Good afternoon! Spending a little time at the Watkins Glen Library after kayaking on Cayuta Lake and getting soaked. ๐Ÿ“š

It’s a pretty nice library, in my book. But then again, it’s hard to pass up a public library for free wi-fi. And there is something nice about connecting up to the unlimited internet, ๐Ÿ“ถ especially now with my phone broken until I can replace it next week.

Cloudy and damp, 72 degrees at the Watkins Glen Public Library. โ˜ There is a south breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 66 degrees.

While I stayed out on Cayuta Lake probably too long, until it was pouring rain very hard ๐ŸŒง it was fine and I got warmed up in my truck. โ™จ๏ธ The defroster plus heat set to 90 degrees warms up quick. ๐Ÿ˜… Cayuta Inlet on Cayuta Lake in Odessa is a really nice paddle. ๐Ÿ›ถ I saw a bald eagle. ๐Ÿฆ… 6/10 mile to first big Beaver dam but you could go father. Three smaller beaver dams but you can break over them. ๐Ÿป Also saw a Great Blue Heron, ducks, snapping turtle, lots of flowers and wildlife. ๐Ÿฆ†

Last night was pleasant, had a little fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ but didn’t stay up very late as I was tired after the hiking at Texas Hollow State Forest. That view from the Finger Lakes Trail along Carlies Road was super nice. I will have to run out to my truck and get the camera ๐Ÿคณ so I can upload some of the photos.

I’ve been thinking this spring I want to get up to Nine Mile Swamp for a paddle

I’ve been thinking this spring I want to get up to Nine Mile Swamp for a paddle. It’s been nine years since the last time I’ve done it. I just have to plan for a time when the water levels are reasonable and good for paddling and fishing. I thought about it this weekend, but I think I want to wait until it’s a bit warmer out, probably in June.

May 11, 2021 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Up bright and early, as I’ve decided I want to get in habit of getting up earlier, especially with going back to the office next week with the reduced bus scheduled ๐ŸšŒ and even sooner going up to the Adirondacks before work come Thursday. โ›ฐ Spring is well underway, with only three weeks to 9 PM Dusk ๐ŸŒ† . Partly sunny and 43 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐Ÿ˜Ž There is a west breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Good morning, it’s springtime, going to warm up quickly, reach 58 degrees later with a stiff breeze.

A nice morning for the walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿป. I am going to miss my morning walks when I’m back working downtown ๐Ÿข although I am hoping they bring back ghr express bus ๐Ÿš and I can walk down there in the morning. ๐Ÿ˜ท Then throw my muzzle on and be whisked downtown. Saw both a few red winged black birds, a robin and a gold finch this morning. ๐Ÿฆ

Landlord showed up yesterday with the plumber, ๐Ÿšฝ unannounced and got the various issues fixed with the plumbing. It will be nice having a bathroom sink that works again, no more problems with the toilet, and not the constant wet and leaks in kitchen. It literally took him about two hours, although I ended up working at the library as it involved a lot of banging of pipes ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿ”ง and I didn’t want to necessary to let my very much Republican landlord hearing the business calls. Been super busy lately with work. ๐Ÿข Literally, some of these issues should have been addressed a decade ago, but I’ve been like it’s not a big issue until right now. ๐Ÿ›

I wasn’t happy with the unexpected visit by landlord, ๐Ÿงน as things were kind of a mess and pile of dishes in the sink, the floors are unclean and working from home that was terribly distracting. ๐Ÿ›€ I wanted to take a shower yesterday, but I couldn’t do that as he had the pipes all apart in the bathroom. But at least I can do that today. With the warmer weather, I think I am going to go back daily showers, as I tend to get kind of dirty and smelly, and I am going to be in the office more now with things getting back to normal. ๐Ÿ’ฆ I figure the various fixes should save a fair amount of water.

My therapist is not wrong in saying I shouldn’t delay everything and procrastinate. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍โš•๏ธ It really does help with the anxiety to not be such a procrastinator. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ Well, now I don’t have to clean up things as much, although without out the leaks, and constant mold it might be a lot easier to clean shit up. ๐Ÿ”ฅ I’ve also been told I’ll be less of a fire bug if I get my anxiety levels more under control by being less of a procrastinator, fearing less of the worse case scenarios. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐ŸŒพ And just remember, as I redneck, I’ll always be a redneck, and there ain’t no changing that. Rednecks do redneck things, and that’s totally manageable condition. Or something to that effect he said. ๐Ÿคฃ I am paying $25 an hour plus my insurance another $50 for advice like that. White trash with money, I guess. ๐Ÿ’ต

Chuckling, going past my childhood neighbors house (the long-haired country boys in trailers with the pigs and cows) ๐Ÿท with that great big pile of wood, pallets and debris, they’ve been saving to burn on May 15th when the burn ban is over. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿš’ Besides being real American rednecks, they’re firefighters, they have to sort of follow the law when they burn shit.

Today will have isolated showers after 3pm. Mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 59 degrees at 1pm. 11 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 15th. West wind 7 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, which became partly cloudy by afternoon. The high last year was 63 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 1911. 0.5 inches of snow fell back in 1907.โ„

Should be a real nice day for sure, although a bit cool with breeze. ๐Ÿ˜Ž But a ton of sunshine. But the best is yet to come as we push towards the weekend and things start to get nicer. I am going to work from home today I think, ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿ’ป as the plumbing is fixed. As was going to work in the office either today or tomorrow to make sure the equipment is still working and my ID badge still works, etc. ๐Ÿ’ณ but there really is no need when I can be home enjoying the fresh air. I think things will be fine next week, I’ll just bring my laptop in case things are down in the office. ๐Ÿ’ป Between the wi-fi they have there and my hotspot I should be good. I always used to joke about being cruel and unusual punishment to have to work downtown on nice days, even if work pays for my big jacked up truck, my guns, my fishing pole and all the stuff I like to burn up in the woods. ๐Ÿค‘ Speaking of which, today is pay day.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 65.4° from the due south horizon (-5.5° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.8 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:27 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (289°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (296°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:07 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 12 seconds with dusk around 8:38 pm, which is one minute and 5 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:19 pm. At sunset, look out for possible pop up showers ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 50 degrees. Bring your rain coat, prepare to get wet. ๐Ÿ’ง You’ve been warned. โš ๏ธ There will be a west-northwest breeze at 10 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 29 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 13 seconds over yesterday.

I told John Wolcott I’d be coming over today ๐Ÿ”Ž but I don’t think that’s likely to be with my work schedule. I should think about getting packed starting today or this evening ๐Ÿ’ผ for camp especially if I’m going over to John’s house tomorrow. I could go grocery shopping tomorrow at lunch for camp โ›บ but that’s a risky proposition as I often get busy with work midday ๐Ÿ•› and meetings get called. I do want to have most of the supplies I need as Charlie John in Spectulator is a great store but expensive.

Tonight will have isolated showers between 10pm and 11pm. Partly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 40 degrees at 6am. Seven degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 24th. West wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2020, we had cloudy skies. It got down to 37 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1969.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, scattered showers, mainly after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 69. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Maximum dew point of 45 at 7pm. Sunday, scattered showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 70. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Maximum dew point of 47 at 8pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 71 degrees.

I am thinking I will head north on Thursday, before work ๐Ÿ’ป and work from Speculator, camp somewhere nearby on Thursday night, and then somewhere a bit more remote come Friday evening through Sunday evening. Probably work in Speculator Thursday, Friday and Monday. Tuesday I have be back in office, suit and tie. ๐Ÿ‘จ‍๐Ÿ’ผ I expect to be in the office a lot more soon, so I figure get out and enjoy it while I still can. โ›บ I was thinking about Madison County, as they won’t have black flies there, but maybe mosquitos. I really want to paddle Nine Mile Swamp, and maybe also around Hyde Bay at Glimmerglass. ๐Ÿ›ถ Plus good bird watching at the Rogers Center ๐Ÿฆ, and the rich smell of fresh farm dirt in Sherburne. ๐Ÿฎ I am thinking maybe either the following weekend or after the Memorial Day Weekend. The thing is if I go out there, I can only stay three nights without a camping permit. ๐ŸŽซ Plus fewer options to go shooting in woods. ๐Ÿ”ซ No idea on Memorial Day Weekend, depends on the weather. I might do the Green Mountains, as I know a few places where I have a good cell service up there for work or maybe I’ll tent camp for a few nights locally. ๐Ÿ“ฑ Just need to plan things out, so I don’t have to be in office right around then. And to have enough solar to keep everything running smoothly.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until 9 PM Dusk ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 8:26 pm. Good weather for going down to the park with a book. ๐Ÿ“• Or swimming at the Potholers. ๐ŸŠ‍โ™€๏ธ On that day in 2020, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 68 and 41 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 76 degrees. We hit a record high of 94 back in 1918.

Springtime on the Trail

August 16, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday. Final day of vacation, plan to make the most of it. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ Summer not expected to last. Five weeks to Average High 70 ๐ŸŽ‘ . Partly cloudy and 73 degrees at the Watkins Glen State Park. โ›… There is a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 62 degrees.

The morning started out chilly ๐ŸŒค๏ธ but the clouds parted. I made up coffee โ˜• and finished up the muffins. ๐Ÿช I am surprisingly less hung over then expected, I had a few Genesee’s with dinner last night and they’re the kind of beer ๐Ÿป you drink when you are having more than one. ๐Ÿคฎ

Sat back, paused briefly then made a final video ๐Ÿ“น of my campsite. ๐Ÿ•๏ธ I find it hard to believe that I’ve been camping here for 8 nights and nine 9โƒฃ days, it seems like I just set things up yesterday. โŒ›I think camping here in one site all week made the time go by faster.

All packed up, site is clean ๐Ÿก and after visiting a few more places in the Finger Lakes it will be back home. ๐Ÿ›ฃ๏ธMy goal is to be home by dusk ๐ŸŒ†. I am not terribly worried about getting unpacked ๐Ÿ’ผ tonight although I’ll need to grab the cooler and empty that out โ„, grab my clothes ๐Ÿ‘•๐Ÿ‘–and unpack things like razors and toothbrush.

I am going to go for a swim ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ once the pool opens. I wanted to be here early in case the lot filled up with social distancing. Seneca Lake looked so calm this morning, I was tempted to go for a paddle but with things heating up โ˜€ the wind ๐Ÿƒ is picking up. This afternoon I want to explore Catharine Creek Marsh ๐Ÿฆ†some more wildlife observation ๐Ÿ”ญ this time with binoculars. I could go for a paddle later. ๐Ÿ›ถ I don’t know though time is limited but I made sure to leave the sleeping pad so I could get the kayak off my truck if choose. Then starting to head home, I want to visit Danby State Forest ๐ŸŒฒand check the overlook out there.

Today will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 81 degrees at 3pm. Typical for today. Maximum dew point of 62 at 10am. Southeast wind 6 to 8 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, which became thunderstorm by afternoon. It became sticky as the day progressed. The high last year was 81 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1936.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:13 pm with sun having an altitude of 61.2ยฐ from the due south horizon (-9.7ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:30 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (283ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (289ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:08 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 3 seconds with dusk around 8:36 pm, which is one minute and 28 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:15 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 74 degrees. The dew point will be 61 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 50 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 32 seconds over yesterday.

I thought it was a pretty good week, โ˜บ with about the best weather one could hope for during these times. Everything was a bit off and the wood full of people during these times of social distancing. ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆIt’s really good that people are getting outside and enjoying nature but I do miss the solitude especially around Foster Pond – the nights ๐ŸŒŒstar gazing with no one else around. While my campsite was far back from the road and quite remote, every time I hiked in the woods it didn’t seem quite as quiet ๐Ÿคซ as years past. While I’d be pressed to say that I couldn’t find solitude but things just weren’t like years past.

The Finger Lakes are a very different place than the Adirondacks. ๐Ÿฎ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒพ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿท I think it’s a fun summer place, a lot lighter and more relaxing than the Adirondacks. ๐Ÿ—ป Everything in the Adirondacks is much more touristy, while the Finger Lakes are more rural and the gas stations โ›ฝ and groceries ๐Ÿ›’ aren’t so overpriced as they are up north. ๐Ÿ‘ƒ๐Ÿป The smell of the silage and grass, the gentle mooing of the cows is a nice change.

There are definitely a lot of places on my ๐Ÿ…ฑ๏ธ list I’ve gotten to see this week and enjoy that would have otherwise been overlooked. I think it’s good to think outside of the box ๐Ÿ—ƒ and look for new places to visit in the same general area I’ve been before but previously overlooked. ๐Ÿฆ

One of my annoyances that seems to be a problem all over this year is the amount of litter ๐Ÿšฎ dumped in the woods. Seems like this week there is a growing pile of trash ๐Ÿ—‘ dumped at Foster Pond, the same is true for the campsite on Backbone Trail. Now I’m not calling for more jack booted thugs ๐Ÿ‘ข to unsuccessfully patrol the woods and stop dumping but folks should be more responsible. ๐Ÿ‘ฎ You can’t stop ๐Ÿ›‘ people who want to dump trash when no one is looking.

Bring your gawd damn deposit cans back for the nickle. ๐Ÿ’ต Bring your aluminum foil, cans and glass home for the recycling bin โ™ป, it’s not that much trash if you smash it. Chances are your having a fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ so you can burn the rest of the largely burnable packaging ๐Ÿ“ฆ, just make sure to pack out anything that doesn’t fully become smoke or water vapor. And bury your poop ๐Ÿ’ฉ and toilet paper ๐Ÿšฝ deep in the woods. โšฐ๏ธ Personal responsibility not jack booted thugs. โ˜ ๏ธ

If people want to drink ๐Ÿป and have a little fun in the woods ๐Ÿคฃ then good for them. Public lands are for the publics use but they shouldn’t trash them. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿง”๐Ÿง”๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘ฑ๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฑ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธI had my fun but my campsite was cleaner than when I got there – I cleaned up abandoned fire pits, removed bottle caps and made sure things were generally more organized than when I got here.
โ€ผ๏ธ

I am hoping by next summer ๐Ÿ– things will be a bit quieter and back to normal. ๐Ÿ‘พ Been such an odd summer and while I’ve made the most of it I could see doing some things differently next year. ๐Ÿ’ญ I’d like to spend some time in Pennsylvania, maybe later this autumn. ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ Yeah, while New York rednecks are fun, Pennsylvania rednecks are more fun as they have more guns ๐Ÿ”ซ and everybody out in the country burns their trash and everything else that burns from brush piles to old mobile homes. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Continuing to read that book about hog farming. ๐Ÿท There is a lot I didn’t know about pigs, ๐Ÿฝ they are kind of fascinating creatures. I figured start my summer reading program with cattle, then pigs and maybe then goats ๐Ÿ and chickens ๐Ÿ”. Pigs are a lot more accessible to a beginning homesteader than cattle ๐Ÿฎ plus they can do a lot to help restore rocky โ›ฐ๏ธ worn out soils as can often be found in areas with affordable acreage. ๐Ÿ’ฉ I’m sure that’s why North Country Off Grid makes pigs such a big part of his homestead in North Idaho. Plus bacon ๐Ÿฅ“.

I am thinking about getting a clip on telephoto lens ๐Ÿ”ญfor my smartphone ๐Ÿ“ฑ. I am quite happy with the quality of the photos ๐Ÿ“ธ my phone takes but I would like to be able to zoom ๐Ÿ”Ž in closer to wildlife. ๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿฆ‰๐Ÿธ๐ŸฆThey aren’t really expensive either. ๐Ÿ–ผ

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly after midnight. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 62 degrees at 5am. Two degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 61 at 7pm. South wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It became very sticky as the night progressed. It got down to 67 degrees. The record low of 40 occurred back in 1979.

Today in 1916, the Migratory Bird Treaty between Canada and the United States signed. ๐Ÿฆ It was designed to save Migratory Birds by giving them international protection for the first time by placing limits on hunting and other means of taking. Good day for walking in the marsh. ๐Ÿธ

In 1989, a solar flare from the Sun creates a geomagnetic storm that affects micro chips, ๐ŸŒžleading to a halt of all trading on Toronto’s stock market.๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ

Also, in 1993, Debian Linux is announced, ๐Ÿ’พit would become the basis of many forms of Linux like Ubuntu Linux, which is currently what I run on my home computer.

And in 1966, the House Un-American Activities Committee begins investigations of Americans who have aided the Viet Cong.๐Ÿ›๏ธ The committee intends to introduce legislation making these activities illegal. Anti-war demonstrators disrupt the meeting and 50 people are arrested.

Looking ahead, there are 5 weeks until Average High 70 ๐ŸŽ‘ when the sun will be setting at 7:07 pm with dusk at 7:35 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly sunny, patches of fog and temperatures between 79 and 42 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 71 degrees. We hit a record high of 90 back in 1946.

Almost hit a fawn descending Denton Summit. Pressure wave hit fawn, collapsed on shoulder of road.

August 14, 2020 8 PM Update

Good evening! Mostly clear and 76 degrees at the Finger Lakes National Forest. ๐ŸŒŒThere is a north breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 60 degrees.

It was a nice day hiking the Catherine Valley Rail Trail ๐Ÿš‚. Not the most exciting trail ever but a nice walk through some well managed and scenic woods. A lot of it was timber country that is leased to a local hunting club. ๐ŸฆŒ๐Ÿฆƒ๐Ÿฆ† Some road noise from NY 14 but it ran pretty high above the valley on dirt viaducts cut into the mountainside.

In the afternoon I went for a swim at Watkins Glen State Park. ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ I thought the pool was too crowded for social distancing at four o’clock so I hopped out and by five it had thinned out so then I hopped in the pool. One thing nice about the Finger Lakes is the swimming areas are all open until 7 pm. โ˜บ

I thought about swimming at Enfield Gorge or at the Cayuga Lake beach ๐Ÿ– at Taughannock State Park but I feel like those bathrooms ๐Ÿšฟ are more cramped and less clean, and the natural water is not chlorinated so I’m hesitant. Plus the beach areas are smaller and cramped making social distancing more difficult.

I got ice cream one more time at Glen Dairy Bar ๐Ÿงthis time an apple sundae. ๐ŸI think this will be the last one for this trip, I’m kind of tired ๐Ÿ˜ด of eating so much ice cream. It’s been fun while it lasted during this trip. I told myself ice cream ๐Ÿฆnearly there would be my special little treat.

Watched the sunset ๐ŸŒ‡ from off Ball Diamond Road in the National Forest pasture again tonight. Another nice sunset, always pretty watching the sun set over the hills of the Finger Lakes and Seneca Lake.

Walked down to Foster Pond and watched the stars โœจ for a while. Saw four shooting stars ๐ŸŒ including one that was really bright and lit up the sky. Ended up falling asleep and was awoken by a bunch of drunk kids rafting in plastic blow up rafts on Foster Pond. ๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ One of them offered me a partially drink can of white claw, during the pandemic. ๐Ÿป I declined and walked back to camp.

Running low on drinking water ๐Ÿ’ฆ and wanting something sweet I packed apple ๐Ÿ juice for hiking today. That was fine until I cross threaded the canteen and it leaked over my backpack. Fortunately I decided to leave the binoculars and camera ๐Ÿ“ธ in the truck. A bee was attracted to the backpack got stung in the arm. ๐Ÿ That hurt. The backpack was washed in the shower ๐Ÿšฟ and is drying now. Drank too much apple juice today and now I have the runs a bit. ๐Ÿ’ฉ Hello bucket shitter! Getting full, going to emptied and buried โšฐ tomorrow when I break camp.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 63 degrees at 5am. Three degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 62 at 9pm. North wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 62 degrees. The record low of 48 occurred back in 1964.

Tonight will have a Waining Crescent ๐ŸŒ˜ Moon with 19% illuminated. The darkest hour is at 1:13 am, followed by dawn at 5:44 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:14 am in the east-northeast (70ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 4 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 4 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:53 am with sun in the east-northeast (76ยฐ). Tonight will have 10 hours and 5 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 31 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 81 degrees at 2pm. Typical for Tomorrow. Maximum dew point of 63 at 7am. South wind 3 to 7 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies. The high last year was 83 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1959. One thing to watch is clouds may push in fairly early tomorrow afternoon. โ˜๏ธ

I am going to take a wait and see approach tomorrow. โ›… I am afraid it might be quite choppy on Seneca Lake by afternoon to paddle. ๐Ÿ›ถ If it’s kind of gray and dark out I might stay at camp. Although there are some additional marsh trails in Watkins Glen that I was reading ๐Ÿ“– about I’m thinking ๐Ÿ’ญ about exploring.

In four weeks on September 11 the sun will be setting in the west (276ยฐ) at 7:23 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 46 minutes and 6 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had hot and humid weather that was partly sunny and temperatures between 87 and 66 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 74 and 54 degrees. The record high of 98 degrees was set back in 1931.

Looking ahead, Labor Day Weekend Begins ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿญ in 3 weeks, September 11th ๐Ÿ‡ธ is in 4 weeks, 7 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 5 weeks, Average High is 65 ๐Ÿ‚ is in 7 weeks, Average Night Below Freezing ๐ŸŒŒ is in 13 weeks, Buy Nothing Day ๐Ÿ›๏ธ is in 15 weeks, Average High is 40 ๐ŸŒจ is in 16 weeks, Bake Cookies Day ๐Ÿช is in 18 weeks, Christmas ๐ŸŽ… is in 19 weeks, New Years Day 2020 ๐ŸŽ‰ is in 20 weeks, Bubble Bath Day ๐Ÿงผ is in 21 weeks, Coldest Week of the Year ๐ŸŒฌ is in 5 months, my 38th Birthday ๐ŸŽ‰ is in 24 weeks and Valentines Day โค๏ธ is in 6 months.
