What would you do if… ๐ŸŽถ

If you were listening to Joe Crocker it would be sing out of tune, and if it was David Crosby it would be find her dead on the floor. Maybe the Wonder Years weren’t as wonderful as people remember them to being. But let’s bang a gong and get it on. After all it’s the morning walk and I need to leave at a reasonable hour as I’m riding Blackie into work today and need to stop on the way mostly to get dental floss but also bananas and maybe some MSG.

Good morning! What day is it? Farmers Market Day, of course. I want zucchinis so badly. Mostly cloudy and 63 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a west-northwest breeze at 11 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 60 degrees. The skies will clear around 9 am.

Not sure if I actually need to do my morning walk ๐Ÿšถ if I’m taking Blackie ๐Ÿšต to work but I’m up and going and kind of like the quiet time known as walking to get my day started. Since getting my bike I don’t get in nearly as many steps as I used to do. I think I’ll do Cream of Wheat ๐ŸŒพ and chia seeds, with fresh squeezed lemon ๐Ÿ‹ with stevia for sweetness, topped with plain non fat Greek yogurt and frozen wild Maine blueberries. ๐Ÿซ Just describing that seems so mouth ๐Ÿ‘„ watering because it is. Good for a sugar high and energy โšก for cycling to work.

Today will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny โ˜๐Ÿ‘‰ โ˜€ , with a high of 83 degrees at 5pm. Typical for today. Maximum dew point of 63 at 11am. Northwest wind 9 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was somewhat humid. The ahigh last year was 86 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 2001.

Going to be a nice day to ride into work. ๐Ÿšฒ I figure Friday too after my dentist appointment. ๐ŸฆทI thought about heading out of town this weekend but I really need a week off from life on the road, packing and unpacking. I’m thinking the following week of taking Thursday and Friday off for a long weekend at House Pond Campsite floating on the tube โญ• and riding Piseco-Powley Road on Blackie if it’s nice.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:02 pm with sun having an altitude of 63.3ยฐ from the due south horizon (-7.5ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:28 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (286ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (293ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:07 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 8 seconds with dusk around 8:37 pm, which is one minute and 20 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:17 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 74 degrees. The dew point will be 59 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 13 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 24 seconds over yesterday.

Yesterday all day my butt was dragging ๐Ÿ˜ด especially come the afternoon. I’m not sure why I got a goodnight sleep, had a protein and fiber rich breakfast of eggs and spinach, and nothing was extraordinary on Tuesday. I went to the planning board meeting yesterday on yet another development in the Albany Pine Bush. This time they’re proposing yet another warehouse in Colonie in prime Pine Bush in a wildlife corridor. ๐Ÿ‘ทTown is mostly concerned with the coloring of the fencing and the stucco which they want to look like every other warehouse. Developer and the government Pine Bush commission is good as they’re building on an existing site. We’re not at Save the Pine Bush as it’s more Pine Bush being developed.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 58 degrees at 5am. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around August 30th. Maximum dew point of 60 at 6pm. West wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 63 degrees. The record low of 48 occurred back in 1955.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, a chance of showers after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Maximum dew point of 64 at 4pm. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 82. Maximum dew point of 67 at 1pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 83 degrees.

It’s so tempting to head out of town ๐ŸŒฒ as summer is rapidly coming to a conclusion but I know the responsible thing is to stay closer to town and I’m tired of packing and unpacking all of the time, taking down and setting up camp โ›บ. I really should visit John at least one last time, his wife needs help with him and time is ticking for him. โณ It would be fun to take Blackie ๐Ÿšต out on the Erie Canal Trail and maybe the Albany Pine Bush Preserve in the evening. And just rest and restore myself. Eat some fried zucchini with lots of onions. ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿง… Maybe but not likely hammock camp overnight on Cole Hill.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Average High Falls To 79 ๏ธDegrees โ›ฑ๏ธ๏ธ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 7:35 pm with dusk at 8:03 pm. On that day in 2022, we had rain and temperatures between 90 and 66 degrees. We hit a record high of 98 back in 1953.

Afternoon At Camp

This past weekend I camped once again at Campsite 5. I knew this campsite wouldn't be too muddy, it was protected from the wind and some of the road noise, plus there was that great big pile of firewood.

US Route 33 Over Shenandoah Mountain -- West Virginia and Virginia. Notice how the State of West Virginia has widened and improved US 33 on the western slope of the mountain, making it much easier to drive.

The reason the road has so many switch backs is the terrain is very steep -- much steeper then you would find in New York or New England.

It Would Be Fun to Live Off the Grid All of the Time

My Part Time Off the Grid Life.

Basically during most of the weeks of the summer, I live off-the-grid in the form of camping in the Adirondack backcountry at various roadside campsites. In the back country, your pretty much up to doing it all yourself, with gear you have brought. It is a rare thing for a campsite to even have an outhouse, much less a picnic table. The best you can expect for is a fire ring. All else, you must bring in or implement yourself.

When I roadside camp, I generate my own electricity using a 800-watt inverter to power lights, my laptop, and other small appliances. The electricity, generated by the alternator, is stored in a deep cycle battery, and turned into 120 volt AC current with an inverter, much like it would work in an off-the-grid set up. While I’m basically converting gasoline to electricity, the principles are the same as solar or wind energy in an off-the-grid system. There is no power grid to keep the lights on.

In the backcountry, you have to cook your meals and clean up after without the benefits of running water or centralized electricity. You learn how to be self-reliant and learn to do without. Most campsites lack outhouses, so your stuck digging a hole in the woods and burning your toilet paper. Showers involve taking a dip in a creek, or hauling water up into woods, and taking a shower under a shower bag. Okay maybe that part isn’t as much fun.

There is no trash pickup, so you burn the burnable garbage, and bring the unburnable waste back home for recycling. If you choose to use stryofoam plates, you don’t have to worry about them sitting in a landfill for the next millennium — they burn just fine. You get to build camp fires to stay warm, for enjoyment, and to watch things burn. Fire is fun.

Daylight matters in woods, and you can here the birds and wildlife back there. There isn’t the traffic noise. It can be darn quite. In the wilderness there is non-stop beauty, as the natural world works it’s way around the cycle known as the year — as the world continues to evolve through each and every flood, hurricane, and tornado.

Traveling to the backcountry usually involves visiting a lot of out of the way places. Many beautiful small towns, and spending time in and around them. Small towns are really a world away from living in Albany, where people are connected to the land. When your in a small town in the mountains or in farmscape of Rural America, it really feels like your a world away from the city.

Someday to Live Off the Grid All of the Time.

Camping is a fun adventure in summer time, but I think it would be fun adventure to basically do all of the time. While certainly I would want to have running water, and good way to take hot showers, I really don’t want to be part of the grid, but instead be responsible to meeting my own needs by physical means. Rather then paying a distant corporation to generate electricity or pump water to my place, I’d rather be able to generate it on my own means — either by petroleum or wind, water, or solar.

Unlike some people, I do not have as much as a moral objection to the grid or even civilized society, but I think it would be a lot of fun to work directly with the technologies that power’s one life — and to live fairly minimally without all the gizmos and energy sucking gadgets that are common when people are connected to the grid, and get virtually unlimited electricity for very low prices. It is nice to have a system under one’s control — and not dependent on the grid beyond your control.

I like the idea of living off the grid, because you would get to use fire in almost every facet of your life. One of the things I like most about camping is the fires, watching the woods (and trash) burn up in the fire pit. I like cutting and splitting my own wood, and I’d rather be in control of my heat energy supply rather then sending a check off every month to some distant utility. I want to minimize my waste, then be able to burn my burnable trash, and haul my recyclables to the recycling center, rather then depend on a centralized service that promotes wasteful behavior.

I want to live in outside a small town, away from the big city. I don’t want to have to deal with big city traffic, public transit, criminals, and the sensationalization of the media on how life in the city must be.

Back to the Monday routine on this cloudy morning โ˜๏ธ

Back to work today, hopefully with all the repairs and parts put into my bike it should be good for a while now. Probably not but usually mechanical problems all happen at once.

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Cloudy and 52 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜๏ธ Calm wind. Not as cold today but also not a beautiful day. Probably tomorrow will be the best day of the week but that’s not saying much.

Johnny cakes with onion, spinach, brocoli and corn this morning. ๐Ÿฅž Used some cumin as a spice this morning which gave it a real earthy flavor. Topped with some cottage cheese and drank way too much coffee โ˜• as is common these days.

Bike should be ready to be back on the road today, ๐Ÿšฒ with a new tire and tube on the front and 8 oz of tire sealant between the two wheels. I bought two tires but installed only one as I found the front new tire to be a bitch to install without the bead fully formed into position due to being a new tire. I figured the rear tire – – which I rotated to the back two weeks ago has a fair amount of tread life on it, on and the rear wears faster at any rate but in many ways is less important for control while riding trail then the front one. ๐Ÿšต And the thing of it is realistically I don’t do that many miles riding trail, it’s mostly commuting and gravel like truck trails and dirt roads.

I actually ordered a speedometer / odometer ๐Ÿ“ฆ – – just a real basic model to better track my milage on the bike. I was using a phone app but it’s a pain to have to reset it all the time and sometimes the GPS track is lost when I open the photo app. ๐Ÿ’พ It would be good to have better milage tracking for maintence needs, like changing out the chain before it gets to be complete slop and wear out the gears or to rotate the tires. Plus I have a rough idea of how many miles I’m riding – – it’s 8 3/4 mile the most direct way to work but that ignores detours and other side trips, and I’m curious to get an exact milage count. Also would be interesting on road trips and the alike.

Today will have isolated showers between 9am and 1pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 72 degrees at 7am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 17th. Southeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 63 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 1930. There was a dusting of snow in 1994.โ„

Made a big pot of rice and beans up for the week.๐Ÿฒ Should make some good meals for the upcoming week. I’m hoping if it’s nice enough that later on I can go out to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center and read for an hour or so ๐Ÿ“š before it gets too dark out. Those e-books are great for that, plus having the bike makes a quick trip out to Five Rivers.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 64.1ยฐ from the due south horizon (-6.7ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:22 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (287ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (294ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:02 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 10 seconds with dusk around 8:32 pm, which is one minute and 6 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:12 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 14 hours and 22 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 21 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 47 degrees at 7am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 11th. Calm wind. In 2023, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 45 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1874.

Last night I had a big fight with my mama, ๐Ÿ‘ช she was being a big jerk and teasing me. I am really not going to put up with her abuse – – I don’t feel like it’s required for me to visit her every week plus I wasn’t planning on going over this weekend at any rate. Next weekend might be Schohiare. Plus it’s not like the food I have there is ever healthy, and their laundry machine never works right. I’d be better off saving my weekends for fun, and going to the laundromat and avoiding the stress of visiting. ๐Ÿ‘š

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 60. Sunday, a chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 65. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Maximum dew point of at 7am. Typical average high for the weekend is 70 degrees.

I would like to get out of town this weekend, โ›บ but as of right now I’m not hopeful, though things could change. I guess it’s good I’m saving money with rent going up in a few weeks, and everything so expensive lately. There are still a few more weeks left in May, and maybe the following weekend I could do a long a weekend to do the Catskill Scenic Trail on my bike and find ramps to enjoy into the woods.

Looking ahead, there are 7 weeks until Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 8:38 pm with dusk at 9:12 pm. On that day in 2023, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 86 and 61 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 82 degrees. We hit a record high of 96 back in 1943.

State Street

A rainy Cinco de Mayo ๐ŸŒฎ

Why are the weekends such complete shit lately I have to ask myself? It’s kind of lame. Yesterday wasn’t bad and Friday was pretty nice, but if I had gone out of town this weekend, it would have been a pretty wet morning taking down gear and driving home in the rain.

Good morning! Rain and 54 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ 15 mph southernly breeze. Not only is it wet, the wind is now whipping around. As they say, the sun ain’t going to shine anymore, at least not for two days straight on weekend.

This morning was eggs and hashbrowns ๐Ÿณ with lots of onions, garlic, and broccoli. Not a half bad breakfast. Last night was red lentil soup with loads of shredded carrot and spices, and a little bit of cornmeal just for that rich taste of cornmeal. Amazing how quickly a big pot of that can disappear. ๐Ÿฒ Super tasty. Pantry is getting bare but I’ll go shopping soon after I shower. :๐Ÿšฟ

Today will have showers before noon, then rain after noon. ๐ŸŒฆ High of 55 degrees at 9am. 14 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 5th. Maximum dew point of at 9am. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ South wind around 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 64 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 1944. There was a dusting of snow in 1900.โ„

I honestly didn’t have high hopes for today, and the weather didn’t disappoint. ๐Ÿ˜” I am putting off shopping for a bit ๐Ÿ›’ as I want to visit Steiner’s and get bike tires this morning and a spare tube, ๐Ÿšฒ so I can be back on road by Monday hopefully and be good if the weather isn’t as shitty as predicted for next weekend to ride the Catskill Scenic Trail without fear of getting a flat. I could probably get away with replacing just one tire but I think I’ll spring for two so they’re matching tires, plus even the one that isn’t totally shot is pretty worn. โšซ

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 63.8ยฐ from the due south horizon (-7ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:21 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (287ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (294ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:01 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 9 seconds with dusk around 8:31 pm, which is one minute and 7 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:11 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 48 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 14 hours and 19 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 24 seconds over yesterday.

Going out to see the folks this afternoon, ๐Ÿ‘ช but probably won’t stay that late as I want to get the new tires mounted on the bike and the tube re-installed – – and the old tube patched if possible. Hopefully with the new tires I won’t have so many problems, but it’s been bad with the amount of broken glass there has been on the roads lately. Apparently spring comes, and everybody is tossing their beer bottles ๐Ÿพ out their car windows.

Tonight will have showers, mainly before midnight. ๐ŸŒง Low of 41 degrees at 9am. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 20th. South wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. In 2023, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 49 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1969.

I’ve just been doing a lot of reading ๐Ÿ“š and learning lately. A lot of it is as a distraction to pass time, but it’s also been as I’ve been trying to learn as much as possible about land and building a cabin. ๐Ÿ“– It was remarkably quiet ๐Ÿคซ around here, no construction ๐Ÿšง on the unit next door yesterday at least while I was home – – I was at Five Rivers ๐Ÿฆ from 8 AM through 4 PM – – and no sports games ๐Ÿˆ being played at the school ๐Ÿšธ next door. I was surprised how truly quiet it was yesterday around here. Even the evening was nice, took a nap ๐Ÿ› and enjoyed that red Lentil soup.

Still a bit bummed out about that cabin I saw go on sale on May 1st, it would have been perfect if not for the access issues. I’m not saying something like that wouldn’t need improvement, but it would have been a great start, but I would want the parcel connected to a public roadway, ๐Ÿก so I wouldn’t have to ever worry about access or improving the road.

Looking ahead, next Sunday is Mothers Day ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€ when the sun will be setting at 8:09 pm with dusk at 8:40 pm. On that day in 2023, we had a pretty hot day for May, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 87 and 44 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 70 degrees. I bet the black flies liked that. We hit a record high of 91 back in 1881.

I am still hoping to take off next Friday and spend a long weekend in the woods, ๐ŸŒฒbut the forecast can’t be as shitty as it currently looks for next weekend. I guess there is still five days for it to change but so far I’m not impressed.

 Placid

I guess I’ll be getting some bike tires tomorrow ๐Ÿšฒ

I mean the bike shop wasn’t wrong when they said the worn out tires would be prone to flats and would ride like a pig, especially with the more worn one on the front tire. Another flat up front and I’m not riding anywhere until I get a new tire and maybe a tube in case I can’t patch it.

Good morning! Today 8:30 PM Dusk ๐ŸŒ† . Most cloudy and 70 degrees here in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒฅ๏ธ Calm wind. Hey at least it’s not raining this morning but the temperature will drop through the day and only get cloudier.

Today will be be mostly clouds with some breaks of sun especially in the morning , ๐ŸŒฅ with a high of 70 degrees at 6am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 10th. South wind 7 to 10 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 60 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 1944. There was a dusting of snow in 1986.โ„

Another shitty kind of weekend ahead, ๐Ÿ’ฉ but at least this morning Mr. Preskta isn’t out working on the unit next door ๐Ÿšช shortly after getting done with the milking and feeding – – cow ๐Ÿฎ chores at 6:30 AM in the morning. Enjoying the quiet for now, and will probably just end up spending my day at Five Rivers Environmental Education Center, ๐Ÿธ reading in the woods. The original plan called for riding over to Pebbles Island and go for a walk there, ๐Ÿšถ but honestly the weather isn’t that impressive today. Plus I need to get a tire and maybe a tube – – at least as a back up should the patch fail.

Truth is after that crash I got into Thursday, ๐Ÿ’ฅ my knee still needs time to heal. ๐Ÿฉน A weekend off from riding is a good thing in my perspective. I will continue to research tires today ๐Ÿ”Žand stop by the bike store tomorrow and buy two tires โšซ and maybe also a bike tube in case my patch fails or for an emergency it wouldn’t be bad to keep in storage for while camping or riding should I get another flat. I should be back on the road by Monday assuming they have the tire in stock.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 63.5ยฐ from the due south horizon (-7.3ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:20 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (287ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (293ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:00 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 9 seconds with dusk around 8:30 pm, which is one minute and 7 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:09 pm. At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒฅ and temperatures around 61 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 14 hours and 17 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 24 seconds over yesterday.

After such a busy week riding back and forth to work, ๐Ÿšถ I am okay with taking life slow and going for a walk today. And not doing much but a lot of reading and observing nature. I was at Five Rivers last night too, rode out there, hiked and red until dusk ๐ŸŒ‡ and it was a good evening. I’m just not feeling really ambitious today and I don’t feel like driving anywhere. ๐Ÿš˜ I ended up riding back through the suburban subdivision last night, getting home in the pitch black around 10 of nine. I thought about riding out to Feura Bush for some ice cream ๐Ÿฆ but I think I’ll wait for warmer weather then last night – – wasn’t a super warm day.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly after 3am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 48 degrees at 6am. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 14th. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2023, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 40 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1974.

That great cabin / acerage I was looking at in Rensselaer County was only accessible via Easement, so after talking to the real estate agent I decided to pass on further investigation. ๐Ÿก Great location, not a bad commute, and really what I wanted – – off-grid pole-and-beam cabin with water and septic on 6 acres but the Easement road was a deal breaker. The price wasn’t cheap but including the cabin it was reasonable for the location if only it didn’t involve the Easement road. Might be a good hunting cabin, but it would not be possible to improve the road and even a written easement gets complicated. Maybe I’m hoping too much that I can fine the perfect turnkey solution, but what I need to do build my own. ๐Ÿ‘ทI’m continuing to research and learn everything I can.

I am still hoping that next weekend I can get out to Schoharie County, โ›บ take Friday off camp and ride throughout the weekend. Right now the weekend looks cold and showery ๐ŸŒง๏ธ but things could certainly change into he mean-time. I would like to ride the Catskill Scenic Trail, but I need new tires in the before I can do that as I don’t want to deal with another flat. And maybe find some good ramps to eat in the woods. ๐Ÿง…It’s spring turkey, ๐Ÿฆƒ so probably not hiking before noontime.

Possibly the following weekend, I might do a family trip ๐Ÿš˜ out to the Roger’s Center in Central New York, and then I believe the week after that is Memorial Day Weekend ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ which I’ll have to decide where and if I want to get eaten alive by the black flies. ๐Ÿœ Last year the trip out to Cole Hill for two nights was a lot of fun hammock camping, so that’s another option. There is something simple and beautiful about laying back in the hammock as the sky gets dark and cooking over the fire. ๐Ÿ”ฅ At some point I want to get down to Catskill Mountain Cabins, the big show room in Kingston near the Thruway to look at the pre-fab cabins that have at the showroom there, but I think that’s more likely to be a June thing. Plus thoughts of the Potholers are on my mind ๐ŸŠโ€โ™‚๏ธ come later in June but that gets hard to do in the sense that as summer progresses I’ll be busier with work at the campaign committee preparing for the autumn campaign season, running data exports and processing data.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until 9 PM Dusk ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 8:28 pm. On that day in 2023, we had rain and temperatures between 69 and 60 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 76 degrees. We hit a record high of 94 back in 1918.
