Limited Parking

This street also has high curbs, but if you have a truck and can hop them, you can park along it on the grass, like I had to do.

Taken on Sunday September 6, 2009 at Pine Cobble.

As they say, it’s a wash โ˜”

At least if you go outside this morning you’ll get washed. Needless to say I’m taking the early express downtown and walking laps on the Concourse before catching the shuttle to the suburbanite office with acres of parking.

Good morning! What day is it? A Rainy Day, of course. Rain and 40 degrees at the Stewart’s. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ There is a southeast breeze at 11 mph. ๐Ÿƒ with gusts up to 21 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Monday around 3 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

So it’s back to walking ๐Ÿšถ the Plaza for an hour before work. I wonder how many buckets they’ll have out catching leaks from the roof. Even a two billion dollar building leaks. Still beats walking in the rain. Eggs ๐Ÿฅš for breakfast with sweet onions ๐Ÿง… and Chipotle spices. I hear bird flu is back ๐Ÿฅ so my favorite source of cheap healthy quick to cook protein is going up in price, like everything in this world today. Paying back for the good times of the pandemic.

Today will rain. ๐ŸŒง High of 40 degrees at 7am. 13 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 2nd. East wind 11 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 63 degrees. The record high of 79 was set in 1981. 11.0 inches of snow fell back in 1891.โ„

The salmon was good last night ๐ŸŸ, haven’t had that in a while. It’s good to have some more omega 3s. Not as easy to cook as canned sardines or tuna but it’s good to mix thlngs up. That second loaf ๐Ÿž of bread I made up on Sunday night was exceptionally tasty. Read ๐Ÿ“– for a while and went to bed ๐Ÿ› around 8 pm. Just working my way through another week. ๐Ÿ‘ฃ One step at a time. I wish it wasn’t raining so I could ride to work more of the week.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:59 pm with sun having an altitude of 52.9ยฐ from the due south horizon (-17.9ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:47 pm with the sun in the west (272ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (278ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:24 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 7:52 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:27 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 38 degrees. There will be a east breeze at 14 mph with gusts up to 26mph. Today will have 12 hours and 54 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over yesterday.

After filing my taxes ๐Ÿ’ฐ I was reviewing them and realized that I had made a mistake again on my state forms and swapped a number and will overpay the state by $400. It’s fine, I budgeted $1,600 for taxes as I knew that’s what I would owe due to the dividends and interest due to the higher interest rates. Sucks but I did fairly well with the higher rates last year. So either the tax department will catch my mistake or I’ll file an admemded return later in the year to get my money back.

Tonight will rain, snow, and sleet before 4am, then rain between 4am and 5am, then rain and snow after 5am. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ Low of 35 degrees at 10pm. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 7th. Northeast wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2023, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 45 degrees. The record low of 14 occurred back in 1954.

I was tracing out some code at work yesterday , ๐Ÿ–ฅ it was just insane. If you were at a certain zip code on a certain street in Westchester, you raise flag ๐Ÿšฉ number 31. Then you shift several digits to a buffer and then other digits from another field and combine it with data from another buffer. It was absolutely insane but after studying it for a half hour I realized it was doing. But much like life, data is messy and often complicated to clean up. But goddammit, use comments in your source code to explain the madness. ๐Ÿคฌ The one upside is I am getting good at reading and writing C code. I might not be a programmer ๐Ÿค“ but I’m putting my skills to good work.

Cool but with improving conditions this weekend. ๐ŸŒค๏ธSaturday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 52. Typical average high for the weekend is 55 degrees. Staying in town this weekend but who knows about future ๐Ÿ”ฎ weekends. I am thinking I might do the Green Mountains more this year as some ways it’s more convenient from my office. Also thinking about one more trip to the East Branch Sacandaga River before the black flies are out should it warm up this spring. ๐ŸŒธ

Looking ahead, next Wednesday is 8 PM Dusk ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 7:33 pm. On that day in 2023, we had sunny and temperatures between 67 and 30 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 57 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 1922.

South East as Skies Clear

Morning ladies, I said to the fat heifers chewing their cud along Meads Road ๐Ÿฎ

Pretty sure that’s not the proper way to address cows on Facebook as they chew their cud. Dairy farmers get a laugh at how often their posts are blocked on the Facebook as bullying — which to be fair heifers certainly engage in time. It was a great morning for the bike ride out Meads Road before work. Not so cold for a change, more light in the morning too with the earlier sunrise. Plus Mom got me some glove liners, which may have helped with the numbness in the fingers after riding.

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Partly sunny and 25 degrees at the Elm Ave Park and Ride. There is a north breeze at 10 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Things will start to thaw out at around 11 am. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

It was a nice morning bike ride, ๐Ÿšฒ not so cold relatively speaking with the sun rising earlier each morning. Caught the express downtown, ๐ŸšŒ and now it’s off to work. Going to be another busy week at work as we continue to transition the database to the new system and QAS the addresses to ensure timely delivery of client and non client mail. Did the usual loop out along Meads Road and Orchard Street ๐Ÿฎ with the cows and the Mc Mansions and the hills. Derailer seems to have iced up after washing the bike. ๐Ÿšฟ Bus is running a bit late but I’m hopeful that I can catch the shuttle ๐Ÿš€ in time to the suburban office building. I’m getting adjusted to the change, I hated it first with the acres of cubicles and parking ๐Ÿ…ฟ as I don’t drive but it’s great for bicycling on non dress up days ๐Ÿ•ด๐Ÿปplus free coffee โ˜• in the office.

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 38 degrees at 2pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 21st. North wind 10 to 13 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 41 degrees. The record high of 59 was set in 1890. 10.4 inches of snow fell back in 2014.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:10 pm with sun having an altitude of 31.3ยฐ from the due south horizon (-39.5ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 9.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 4:33 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (242ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (249ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:14 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 7 seconds with dusk around 5:42 pm, which is one minute and 19 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:17 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 35 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 13 mph. Today will have 10 hours and 11 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 27 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 20 degrees at 6am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around February 23rd. Maximum wind chill around 17 at 9pm; North wind 9 to 13 mph. In 2023, we had cloudy skies. It got down to 21 degrees. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1948.

Not so cold this evening ๐Ÿšถ so I plan to walk. Probably cook up a stir fry tonight I’m thinking. ๐Ÿฅ— Then walk and knead bread. ๐Ÿž Then head to bed ๐Ÿ› fairly early as I did not get to work early enough last night.

After a sunny week, maybe cloudy but mild for the weekend. โ˜๏ธ Saturday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 53. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Sunday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 47. Typical average high for the weekend is 35 degrees. This is going to be a stay in town weekend most likely, which is fine because I had a good time camping last weekend.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Presidents Day ๐Ÿ‘ด when the sun will be setting at 5:33 pm with dusk at 6:00 pm. On that day in 2023, we had mostly cloudy and temperatures between 47 and 23 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 37 degrees. We hit a record high of 66 back in 1981.

Cue the music, the DIRE EMERGENCY SNOW STORM is upon us ๐ŸŒจ

Aldis in Colonie was so packed with people yesterday, picked over grocery wise with people stocking up for the winter storm that is supposedly approaching today, I just turned around and left. I look across the street at the Market32 with the packed parking lot, and tossed my hands up knowing chances were slim I’d get any whole-wheat flour or other needed groceries. Best to wait until today, when the stockers have been able to restore the shopping experience by morning. I’ll just do Walmart after I shower this morning.

Good morning! Happy Soon to be Wet and Sloppy Sunday. ๐ŸŒง It seems like it rains every Sunday lately. Without fail. Rain loves the weekend. Clouds and 35 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜๏ธ Calm wind. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 6 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Decided I wanted pancakes today, ๐ŸŠ ๐Ÿฅž and I have a lot of oranges, so I decided to try out full-orange pancakes, milling both the orange and peal to make some rather zesty fully flavored pancakes with some lemon juice topped with some greek yogurt and honey. ๐Ÿฏ Wow did they come out good — that orange flavor really shined, especially some ginger, vanilla in the mixture. Finished up the remaining oatmeal I had in the mixture, along with the whole wheat flour and had to fall back onto using some rye flour, but it worked out well.

Today will rain and snow. ๐ŸŒง High of 35 degrees at 7am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 9th. Calm wind becoming north 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. Not going to stick more A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 45 degrees. The record high of 56 was set in 1916. 9.6 inches of snow fell back in 1897.โ„

Riding trail in the Albany Pine Bush was great yesterday ๐Ÿšต‍โ™€๏ธ ๐ŸŒฒ though by mid-day I was starting to feel a bit worn out from all the trail riding. The section off of Kings Road was closed due to them logging and using a tub grinder to chop up the black locus, blackberries and invasive trees as part of the restoration effort. ๐Ÿฆ‹ Ended up riding my bike around Morris and Curry Road to see what I could spot from the road both ecologically and development wise, to further educate myself for Save the Pine Bush. ๐Ÿ’ญ In the afternoon, after shopping at Salvation Army I decided to head up Balltown Road to Aquaduct, as I wanted to check out the old Aquaduct that once carried the second Erie Canal across the Mohawk River and then NY 146 until the 1964 bridge was completed, and the aquaduct demolished to improve the river’s flow and prevent ice jamming. Seems odd these days when Mohawk River ice jams are rare, because the river rarely jams up with so much ice. โ„๏ธ Climate change has changed a lot in our world. There was some ice on Mohawk River but not a lot. Then I rode my bike down the Erie Canalway to the ALCO Trail through that swanky new Mohawk Harbor development, then through the Stockade and Riverfront Park, then the Erie Canalway Trail to Lock 8 and ultimately out to I-890 – NY 5 Connector near Rotterdam Junction. ๐Ÿ›ฃ

While Aldis was insane yesterday, ๐Ÿ‘” I did luck out at the Salvation Army in Karner – Niskayuna – Lisha Kill or whatever the area off of Central Avenue and got two nice dressier shirts. The stuff you get there is nicer then anything you might find at Walmart and cheaper then going to a place like Macy’s or JC Pennies. Plus often much higher quality. Two really nice shirts for $9.60. Can’t beat prices like that. Not only are there wonderful deals at Salvation Army, you’re supporting their disaster and community development efforts. That place is a complete dump on the outside, with people leaving discarded furniture and trash all around it, but inside it really is the best thrift store to get really nice clothing, often for prices far below other thrift stores around. Not going to find anything that nice so cheap at Goodwill or one of the “high end” thrift store boutiques like in Delmar or Slingerlands. Also looked at lamps for my new office, ๐Ÿ›‹ but I’m going to wait until I move into my permanent office before committing to buying a desk lap, assuming I can’t find one in a storage closet somewhere. Thrift shop’s the way to go for that — I am thinking I can put a 150 watt equivalent bulb ๐Ÿ’ก in it as a bright desk lamp. I just hate the overhead florescent lighting.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:09 pm with sun having an altitude of 29.1° from the due south horizon (-41.7° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 10.8 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 4:21 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (238°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (246°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:03 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 11 seconds with dusk around 5:33 pm, which is one minute and 18 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:07 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and snow ๐ŸŒจ and temperatures around 34 degrees. There will be a north breeze at 8 mph. Tomorrow will have 9 hours and 54 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 14 seconds over today.

Tonight will snow, mainly before 4am. ๐ŸŒจ Low of 33 degrees at 5am. 18 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 5th. North wind 9 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible. Ain’t going to be much snow on the roads with that temperature, especially if they’re treated with the tons of deicing chemicals as they most certainly are. Maybe this week will be a good one to wash my truck. In 2023, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 22 degrees. The record low of -10 occurred back in 1925.

Looking ahead, there are 2 weeks until Don’t Cry over Spilled Milk Day ๐Ÿฅ› when the sun will be setting at 5:22 pm with dusk at 5:50 pm. I was totally getting teased the other day in my old office for being such a complainer. I know, I’m such a perfectionist. ๐Ÿ’Ž Cheap bastard too, but I’m saving all my money so I can blow it someday on land, ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐ŸŒพ goats ๐Ÿ, hogs, ๐Ÿท and cattle. ๐Ÿ„ I’ve been told cattle are the fastest way to be broke forever, maybe except for horses. ๐Ÿด Probably someday I’ll meet a girl who is as much a hillbilly as I’m and I’ll have to agree on horses in exchange for having a burn barrel and land. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ›ข Actually, I think I complain about things, but it’s different from what others complain about. I don’t like working in suburbs, when so many others love the acres of parking for easy motoring and the convenience of avoiding crowded elevators, lol. ๐Ÿคฃ On that day in 2023, we had mostly sunny skies snow showers and temperatures between 38 and 23 degrees. I wouldn’t say that’s spilled milk, but a rather nice day. Maybe just a few drips of milk after the teats are stripped. ๐Ÿฎ Typically, the high temperature is 35 degrees. Going to be in the forties during this up coming week. We hit a record high of 59 back in 1981.

Recharge

Happy Final Friday of January 2024! โ˜”

Kind of a wet one to flush away the month of January. I’m up early walking laps on the Concourse in the Emperor’s Plaza. I was thinking if I wanted to do some cardio I could do the stairs in LOB, though truth be told I’ll be here come midday for diversity training and then I’m going to work the rest of the day in my old office.

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Heavy rain and 38 degrees at the Elm Ave Park and Ride. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ There is a southeast breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Not much snow left after the warm temperatures and the rspTemperatures will drop below freezing at Sunday around 3 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

For some reason I didn’t sleep well last night ๐Ÿ› so I’m up early walking ๐Ÿšถ the Plaza. I just find it hard to sleep with the windows closed and I need another night in the wilderness but alas it’s January for a few more days and the woods is going to be a mosh pit after all the rain of recent. ๐Ÿฝ I have diversity training today, so I’ll need to stay awake for that. And lots more reports to run. I need to figure out how to get Docker running on my work machine ๐Ÿค– to automate that further.

Breakfast this morning was pancakes ๐Ÿฅž made from carrots ๐Ÿฅ• and apples with some egg and whole wheat flour for binder with cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice and honey ๐Ÿฏ to top. Then I decided I was still hungry and wanted some protein, so I had some Greek yogurt and strawberries ๐Ÿ“ as a side. โ˜• Looking forward to more coffee when I get in the office. Last night it was pea soup ๐Ÿฅฃ with carrot bread which came out so moist and tender, reminded me almost of carrot cake. By the end of the week I think I will have eaten nearly five pounds of carrots.

Today will rain, mainly before 10am. Patchy fog after 5pm. ๐ŸŒง High of 43 degrees at 4pm. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 9th. Southeast wind 6 to 10 mph becoming northeast in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 41 degrees. The record high of 59 was set in 1950. 8.5 inches of snow fell back in 1949.โ„

Bike ride in and hike was good, ๐Ÿšฒ though on a cloudy day like yesterday it was darker than I would have preferred for riding across the Water Street Bridge. Didn’t help there was a bunch of debris from crashes on the shoulder. I should have enough time that in the future I might ride through Corning Preserve ๐Ÿž and over the pedestrian bridge as an alternative.

I’m getting used to suburban office ๐Ÿข with its acres parking ๐Ÿ…ฟ which everybody tells me is a good thing but I find it hard to believe. I just find the corporate architecture to be so soul depraving with the acres of cubicles, florescent lighting and the very square windows that are few and far between. At least I can make it work with the buses ๐Ÿš and it’s an easier bike ๐Ÿšฒ ride. I enjoyed riding in yesterday and riding down to the river at lunch time, โ˜บ It will be nice come summer. Acres of parking probably is good if I’m planning on going out of town after work.

I do think I’m doing good work, ๐Ÿ–ฅ putting my data science skills and Unix knowledge to hood work in the new position. Change is good, I think I’m rapidly getting up to skill. Plus it’s a good resume builder as I can say I’m using Unix text utilities, SQL and R processing in a o

Tonight will have patchy fog before 7pm. Otherwise, cloudy โ˜, with a low of 35 degrees at 5am. 20 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 10th. North wind 3 to 6 mph. In 2023, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 27 degrees. The record low of -23 occurred back in 1994.

Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a high of 41 degrees at 1pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 3rd. North wind around 6 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 36 degrees. The record high of 62 was set in 1974. 9.3 inches of snow fell back in 1963.โ„

Looking ahead to Sunday, rain and snow, becoming all snow after 4pm. ๐ŸŒจ๏ธ High near 35. North wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Typical average high for the weekend is 33 degrees.

As previously noted, next Friday is Ground Hog Day ๐Ÿป when the sun will be setting at 5:10 pm with dusk at 5:39 pm. On that day in 2023, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 36 and 19 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 33 degrees. We hit a record high of 53 back in 1981.

 Woodstock Road

Why my next truck will likely be smaller ๐Ÿ›ป

Big Red

For 11 1/2 years I’ve been using Big Red as my primary vehicle — that is for camping and traveling, though in the city I use buses or walk to get most places except maybe for the weekly or these days every-two weeks grocery shop. I like Big Red, but I realize even if I do keep it in good repair, it has a limited useful life.

 Big Red Needs A Bath

Having a Big Jacked-Up nice truck is fun when one is young. You should do it once, if you have the money. But I am no longer in my late 20s or 30s. Priorities change. I don’t want to spend $50,000 on a new truck, nor do I want to spend money on big tires or a lift kit. It’s not that I don’t have the money, but I’d rather allocate the money to other things in life.

Back Corner

The big truck is fun, but it’s costly. Repairs are more with a lift kit, as are the tires. Bigger tires, bigger engine, heavy uses more fuel, which became an issue in the past year when gas prices pushed past $5. But even when you don’t worry that much about fuel — as I drive recreationally — a big truck kind of sucks.

Mine's Bigger

Big Red is a bitch to drive around parking lots, through narrow city streets, and anywhere there are a lot of other automobiles, like at repair shops or even the dealership. Big Red keeps me away from crowded trailheads in back country, as he’s too difficult to park. Even many smaller campsites are tricky to park in at Red.

Big Red

Nowadays, my priority is more towards owning my own land and early retirement. A big truck is fine, but I would rather have land where I can shoot guns, have fires and livestock. Out in the woods, where I’m free to do what I want without people bossing me around. I’m trying to grow my wealth, not spend it all. As I want to have more options on where and how I live my life, especially as I head into my 50s, which likely whatever vehicle I get next will go with me into.

Big Red at Cedar River Entrance

I haven’t decided for sure if I am going to get a truck next. I’ve thought about electric vehicles or even a sedan, to save money. But if I want to do more camping in a truck cap, then I’ll need a truck. And probably 4×4 to get on the rough, snowy roads I like to traverse. I really don’t want to spend a lot of money, as inflation has made everything so much more expensive, and money spent now is money that can’t grow in the markets.

Tuesday, Tuesday. At least I think I can ride to work today ๐Ÿค”

Three weeks from now it will be back to work in the new year. Going to take a few days off before Christmas though that week between Christmas and New Years I’ll have to be in the office downtown to supervise the unit as the other director is off and to pack up my office in preparation for the move. I figure I’ll come by the office after hours when parking is free to move boxes and my plants.

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Mostly clear and 33 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 3 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Decent enough morning to ride to work. ๐Ÿšฒ Cool but that’s to be expected this time of year. Should be a good ride in. Only a few more days I expect to be able to ride in before it’s too snowy and I’m working out in the suburbs but we’ll see. At least when spring comes I won’t have to be doing the State Street Hill on my bike. ๐Ÿš Plus riding the bike saves a buck thirty and the craziness ๐Ÿคช due to South Swan at the South Maul Arterial being closed due to the water ๐Ÿ’ฆ main brake. I wonder if that’s fixed yet.

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 43 degrees at 2pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 2nd. South wind 6 to 10 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies. The high last year was 30 degrees. The record high of 62 was set in 1979. 6.6 inches of snow fell back in 1970.โ„

Just another work day. Rush project today. Should be a fairly busy day but it will make time go by quickly. Tomorrow is the annual work from home day, ๐Ÿก I guess it’s part of the holiday celebration and allows people to bake cookies for cookie share day on Thursday. ๐Ÿช

Last night had a nice dinner. ๐Ÿฒ That bean soup and bread was good last night but kept my stomach rumbling throughout the night. Had a bunch of Acorn Squash. Went for my evening walk ๐Ÿšถ. Got milk ๐Ÿฅ› last night which was good with the coffee โ˜• and cranberry pancakes ๐Ÿฅž this morning. Added shredded oranges to the top with some honey. ๐ŸฏUp at five o’clock โฐ and then did some more of my class on artifical intelligence ๐Ÿง  and neural networks.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 11:50 am with sun having an altitude of 24.3ยฐ from the due south horizon (-46.5ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 13.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 3:38 pm with the sun in the southwest (231ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (239ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:23 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 24 seconds with dusk around 4:54 pm, which is 7 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 5:31 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 40 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 10 mph. Tomorrow will have 9 hours and 8 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 39 seconds over today.

Tonight will have increasing clouds โ˜, with a low of 30 degrees at 4am. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 22nd. South wind 6 to 9 mph. In 2022, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 8 degrees. The record low of -6 occurred back in 1988.

Tomorrow my truck gets inspected, oil changed and tires rotated. ๐Ÿ›ปWorking from home then. Baking cookies for bake cookies day at work. ๐Ÿช I need to pull the hub caps off, I was going to do that this morning but I can do it tomorrow. I’m not worried, ๐Ÿ˜ฏ I think Big Red should pass inspection with ease.๐Ÿ”ŽThe truck needs to be dropped off at the garage by 8:30 then I’ll ride home ๐Ÿšฒ and work from home or maybe the library depending on how much bandwidth I need.

Looking ahead, there are 2 weeks until Boxing Day ๐ŸฅŠ when the sun will be setting at 4:29 pm with dusk at 4:59 pm. Popular day for burning ๐Ÿ”ฅ all those Christmas boxes I guess. On that day in 2022, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 30 and 16 degrees. It’s a state holiday for me – Christmas Eve Observed I guess due to it being om a Sunday for folks traveling. Typically, the high temperature is 35 degrees. We hit a record high of 59 back in 1895.
