Good morning! Happy Saturday. Happy soon to be hot Summer weekend! Mostly sunny and 60 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. The dew point is 58 degrees. πŸ˜‰

Today is a nice start to the weekend β˜€ sunny and not too humid. Going to get hot later today, and especially tomorrow. Should be a nice day. I had pancakes for breakfast 🍳 and I’m going to take a shower and finish packing then head north. I got to bed early last night and I’m feeling well rested. I’m thinking about hiking back to Broomstick Lake depending on how hot it is up north. Otherwise I’ll just set up camp β›Ί and head to the Potholers. 🏊

Today will be sunny and hot β˜€ , with a high of 91 degrees at 3pm. Eight degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 67 at 11am. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. It was very sticky. The high last year was 80 degrees. The record high of 100 was set in 1953.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 1:02 pm with sun having an altitude of 68.3Β° from the due south horizon (-2.5Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 7:48 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (293Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-northwest (300Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:30 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 20 seconds with dusk around 9:02 pm, which is 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:46 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 84 degrees. The dew point will be 66 degrees. There will be a southwest breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 54 minutes of daytime, a decrease of one minute and 38 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear πŸŒƒ, with a low of 66 degrees at 6am. Four degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 66 at 8pm. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It became very sticky as the night progressed. It got down to 72 degrees. The record low of 47 occurred back in 1875.

Today is the 201th Day of the Year – its a leap year. Only 165 days remain. πŸ“…

On this day in 1969, Senator Ted Kennedy from Massachusetts drives his car off a bridge and his passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne, dies. πŸš™ And in 1984, there were McDonald’s massacre in San Ysidro, California: In a fast-food restaurant, James Oliver Huberty opens fire, killing 21 people and injuring 19 others before being shot dead by police. πŸ”« After that, California implemented strict new gun control in that state, and there have been no more mass shootings.

July 17, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Cloudy and 63 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a south breeze at 14 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 61 degrees. The skies will clear around 4 pm.

I was going to go for the morning walk, 🚢but by the time I trimmed my hair πŸ’‡ and took a shower and made breakfast, it was too late to walk and be home in time to clock in for work. So instead, I went for a short walk at the Swift Nature Preserve 🐦 down the street. Not a lot of wildlife this morning, but I haven’t been to the preserve in a long time, even though it’s literally 200 feet away from my home. I should go for strolls in there more often. It’s kind of a neat pocket preserve, where some times you can see a lot of birds and frogs.🐸

It looks like today is going to be a hot day. 😰 But maybe the clouds will keep it a bit cooler. I’m hoping it will remain cloudy with showers to keep the heat and humidity from being too oppressive. I plan to work down at the library this morning, πŸ“š as the internet is faster there and I don’t have to worry about using too much bandwidth down there. πŸ“Ά Hopefully it won’t be too hot, although the fan helps. ☒️

Today will be scattered showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11am. Mostly cloudy 🌦, with a high of 82 degrees at 5pm. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around July 27th. Maximum dew point of 70 at 2pm. Muggers rejoice! I hate when the dew point is that hot. South wind 8 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was very sticky. The high last year was 85 degrees. The record high of 99 was set in 1900.

I still need to get packed and ready for camping.πŸ• I have literally done nothing yet. I’ve just been so tired lately. It’s largely my fault for staying up too late lately, but last night I get to bed at a more reasonable hour. I just go to stay off Facebook and force myself to get to bed earlier. πŸ›οΈ I do wonder if I’m having lyme diease symptoms again. 🐜 Been feeling achy today with the weather.Β  πŸ’ͺ I am thinking about actually leaving tomorrow morning early.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 1:02 pm with sun having an altitude of 68.5Β° from the due south horizon (-2.3Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 7:49 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (293Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-northwest (300Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:31 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 20 seconds with dusk around 9:03 pm, which is 43 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:47 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 76 degrees. The dew point will be 69 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 56 minutes of daytime, a decrease of one minute and 36 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have patchy fog after 4am. Otherwise, partly cloudy 🌀, with a low of 66 degrees at 4am. Four degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 70 at 6pm. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It was sticky. It got down to 70 degrees. The record low of 46 occurred back in 1939.

On this day in 1944, Near the San Francisco Bay, two ships laden with ammunition for the war explode in Port Chicago, California, killing 320. πŸ’₯Also on this day, another deadly tragety. In 1981, A structural failure leads to the collapse of a walkway at the Hyatt Regency in Kansas City, Missouri killing 114 people and injuring more than 200.

Tomorrow will have patchy fog before 7am. Otherwise, sunny and hot 🌞, with a high of 91 degrees at 3pm. Eight degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 68 at 11am. Calm wind becoming west around 6 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was very sticky. The high last year was 80 degrees. The record high of 100 was set in 1953.

Looking ahead to Sunday, sunny and hot, β˜€with a high near 96. Southwest wind 6 to 9 mph. Maximum dew point of 69 at 9pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 83 degrees.

I definately want to get north this weekend. β›Ί And probably for the foreseeable future — in other words until at least Wednesday, but it’s just a matter of getting the energy to get ready and off for another trip. Maybe if I get packed and leave bright and early tomorrow — maybe at 5 or 6 AM, I can have all of tomorrow to get set up, drink beer🍺 and hang out at the potholers. Money is tight once again πŸ’Έ but I should enjoy summer before it’s gone for good. πŸ–

Ice Cave Mountain

May 16, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly cloudy and 60 degrees in Delmar, NY. β›… Calm wind. The dew point is 46 degrees. Remarkably mild for this late in the night for mid May but then again it is mid May. Seems like it was March the last time I worked downtown, well actually it was. I haven’t been downtown since probably April when I picked up the work laptop.

It was a a beautiful spring day and I spent as much time as possible outdoors. 🌸 Things are still fairly gray in the hill towns on the hills but at the same time many other places are quite green. This afternoon I hiked a Thacher Park 🌿and this evening hiked at the Pine Bush well after dark πŸŒƒ – from 10 pm to 11:30 to be exact.

I would have stayed longer but my knee was aching from the Lyme Disease. 🐜 I hadn’t taken the pill before I left for the evening. The doxycycline is controlling the symptoms but I’m not convinced it’s killing the Lyme and it may return when the medication runs out on Monday. If necessary I guess I’ll see my doctor again. 😷 One good thing about working from home is it makes scheduling easier. Plus I didn’t want to stay too late and be fatigued driving home. 🏑

It seemed like the Permethrin worked well on my clothes. πŸ‘š So far no ticks I’ve found and the one black fly that landed on my jeans was crippled before it could bite. Didn’t protect my face from bugs out hiking but my arms were good as I applied Picardin to them. 😡 As much as I have pause about bathing myself in chemicals, ticks are insane this year and I am very worried about getting sick from Lyme and not recovering. Already I’m not doing great. I’m not willing to become a shut in just to avoid ticks.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy πŸŒ₯, with a low of 49 degrees at 5am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 21st. Calm wind. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 52 degrees. The record low of 30 occurred back in 1959.

Tonight will have a Waining Crescent 🌘 Moon with 26% illuminated. The darkest hour is at 12:53 am, followed by dawn at 5:00 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:33 am in the east-northeast (63Β°) and last for 3 minutes and 16 seconds. Sunrise is 59 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:13 am with sun in the east-northeast (69Β°). Tonight will have 9 hours and 18 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 59 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny 🌞, with a high of 71 degrees at 3pm. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 20th. Maximum dew point of 50 at 10am. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon. Might be a decent day. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 73 degrees. The record high of 92 was set in 2017.

So I’m pretty sure I’m going to delay my Memorial Day Weekend trip for the week after. β›Ί I’ve been on and off but I don’t think the weather will be all that great for Memorial Day Weekend based on the latest forecast and I’m not convinced that the gates north of the potholers will be open this year for Memorial Day Weekend. Been so wet and I know they had to rebuild the road last fall and with the pandemic everything is messed up. I’m thinking I might take Friday and Monday the week after Memorial Day and camp three nights either at the House Pond campsite or maybe up at Powley Place at one of the sandy open sites where I can use the solar to keep my batteries πŸ”‹ charged and hang my hammock and set up my screen tent πŸŽͺ for black fly prevention.

I am running low on socks and a few other supplies πŸͺ which I will probably order from Walmart online but I’ve found it hard to come up with a $35 order for free shipping πŸ“¦ as the online store actually lacks a lot of the products that the regular stores would have in normal times. Walmart isn’t stocking any non food items in their retail outlets so if they sell out, it’s gone.

In four weeks on June 13 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (303Β°) at 8:34 pm,πŸŒ„ which is 22 minutes and 2 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 65 and 57 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 77 and 56 degrees. The record high of 94 degrees was set back in 1892.

Looking ahead, Memorial Day Weekend Starts πŸ•οΈ is in 1 week, and Summer ️⛱️ is in 5 weeks.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ¦…Only 6 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!πŸ¦…πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Quinn the Eskimo Eve

As I noted last night, I don’t celebrate Christmas. πŸŽ… But I think celebrating Quinn the Eskimo is a good substitute to celebrating Christmas. Quinn the Eskimo is probably a fictional character, but so is baby Jesus, and many celebrate his fictional legacy. To say nothing if the consumerist version of Jesus, the modern day Santa Claus, as they decided a cute baby born in a hay feeder in a cow stall wasn’t cool enough to sell big screen color televisions to the suburbanite consumer. I don’t know if Santa is fiction or not but North Pole is melting from all that coal and oil that is being burned in massive power plants and billions of automobiles.

But I digress. Bob Dylan supposedly created Quinn the Eskimo after Andrew Quinn, the lead actor in the Savage Innocents. Quinn plays, Inuk, an Inuit accidentially kills a Christian Missionary who is not receptive to his gifts of food and women. Inuk is pursued by the Canadian Mounties for the killing, into the great northern wilderness, getting stranded and rescued by Inuk. Ultimately, the Mounties decide to not arrest Inuk, and leave the great white north as wild as it always, deciding to respect and leave the wilderness as it is. While the film got mixed reviews in 1961, it seems even more timely today with wilderness under attack by all sides, both the preservationists and developers, who think it should be controlled in their vision of the future, ignoring the wishes of the natives who want the land just to remain as it always was.

In Modern America, 60 years into the era of the atom bomb and facing the growing climate crisis and a falling apart of society, we should celebrate the savage, and the world that is disappearing before it’s gone. We should do more to protect unique culture, to get government off of people’s backs, respect differences in how people see the world. The world of today is quickly disappearing into the past, being pushed away by the bulldozer tearing down trees and flatting out farm fields and forest, and the crush consumer goods in the landfill. Savages – whether they are Native Americans, farmers, or rural people in isolated country — may be our best hope in a society that is more about television glamour and what is new and shiny. Old ways have served our country for generations, and many ways are more consistent with our natural world and more based on reality.

I think we should celebrate Quinn the Eskimo
and the Great White North during this holiday season.

Descending the Mountain

December 8, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday. Frigid start to the morning but very sunny. Next Sunday is Bill of Rights Day 📜. Tear it up and it makes good bedding in the cow barn. 🐮 Mostly sunny and 17 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. There are 11 inches of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ Lot less snow then six days ago for sure. Even though it’s been relatively cold the sun has done a number on the snow. ️It’s actually warming up pretty quickly and shortly I plan to head out skiing 🎿. Things will start to thaw out at around 2 pm. 🌡️

Today will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 35 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 17th. Light south wind increasing to 10 to 15 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became cloudy by afternoon. The high last year was 30 degrees. The record high of 58 was set in 1927. 4.3 inches of snow fell back in 2001.❄

Should be a great morning for skiing 🎿 at least until the clouds roll in and the sky wind picks up. But for sure I’m wearing wool socks and thermal underwear this morning as it’s cold ❄. Then I got to pick up a few things at the grocery store but it’s a fairly short list. Just going to stop at Hannaford. I’m thinking about making a quick and easy pumpkin 🎃 pie for office Christmas party 🎄.

The sun will set at 4:21 pm with dusk around 4:53 pm, which is 4 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 Tomorrow is the earliest sunset of the year and it will be particularly dark evening with heavy rain β˜” in expected tomorrow. Tonight at sunset, look for partly clear skies 🌄 and temperatures around 33 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 15 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 9 minutes of daytime, an decrease of one minute over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy 🌥, with a low of 34 degrees at 6pm. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around November 8th. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 8 to 13 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Might even feel colder tonight even though the mercury is higher. In 2018, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 17 degrees. The record low of -11 occurred back in 1902. Now that’s a true sign that winter has arrived.

This is shocking and sad. In 1963, Pan Am Flight 214, ✈ a Boeing 707, is struck by lightning ⚑ and crashes near Elkton, Maryland, killing all 81 people on board. That’s actually kind of a horrifying tragedy but airplanes are a lot safer now.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until National Bird Day 🐧 when the sun will be setting at 4:35 pm with dusk at 5:07 pm. Birds the word! 🐦 On that day in 2019, we had rain and temperatures between 40 and 29 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 31 degrees. We hit a record high of 64 back in 1950.

July 18, 2019 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Two weeks to August 🌻. Clouds and a few rain showers and 75 degrees in Bethlehem, NY. β˜” I doubt that I needed a rain coat but I figured be safe rather than sorry. There is a north breeze at 5 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 68 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 9 am. Going to be super hot tomorrow. But my vacation starts then and I can always use the air conditioning while driving out there, followed by cold beverages and a fan to stay cool and maybe laying back on the hammock.

I overslept this morning as it’s pretty dark and gray. ☁ It was raining fairly hard early on. I got up at eight AM and had to dig around for my phone. πŸ“± I did find it. I think I turned my alarm ⏰ off for Independence Day and didn’t notice it last week because the sun was up fairly early as it was sunny.

Today will be scattered showers, mainly before 3pm. Mostly cloudy 🌦, with a high of 81 degrees at 2pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around August 10th. Reminds us that summer won’t last forever. Maximum dew point of 69 at 2pm. North wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 82 degrees. The record high of 100 was set in 1953. It’s going to be warm this weekend but not 1950s warm. People ask how I love without air conditioning, I ask how did people do it during the 1950s when it was truly rare.

The sun will set at 8:29 pm with dusk around 9:02 pm, which is 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and temperatures around 77 degrees. The dew point will be 68 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 7 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 54 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 38 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have isolated showers before midnight. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 67 degrees at 5am. Five degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 68 at 6pm. South wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2018, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 55 degrees. The record low of 47 occurred back in 1875.

Today is the 200th Day of Year. Only 165 days remain. Then it will be 2020, the start of the third decade of the 21st century. 🌟 The future is ahead, that’s all there is to say. But first vacation starting tomorrow.

I want to see if I can hook up the ignitor on the new camp stove burner πŸ”₯ tonight, along with doing the bulk of packing for vacation. I also need to run to laundromat, dollar store and grocery. I plan to do whatever packing I can tonight and will pack the coolers and propane when I leave home after work tomorrow. Not going to bring a lot of food, just enough for Friday and maybe Saturday and will buy what I need come Sunday.

On this day in 1969, Senator Ted Kennedy from Massachusetts drives his car off a bridge and his passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne, dies. πŸ˜₯ And in 1984, there were McDonald’s massacre in San Ysidro, California: In a fast-food restaurant, James Oliver Huberty opens fire, killing 21 people and injuring 19 others before being shot dead by police. πŸ”«After that, California implemented strict new gun control in that state, and there have been no more mass shootings. Thank God for the California legislature keeping safe.

Going to be a nice, hot summer weekend. 🏊 Saturday, isolated showers and thunderstorms before 8am, then scattered showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 95. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Maximum dew point of 74 at 7am. Sunday, scattered showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny and hot, with a high near 92. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Maximum dew point of 72 at 8am. Typical average high for the weekend is 83 degrees.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until August 🌻 when the sun will be setting at 8:15 pm with dusk at 8:47 pm. On that day in 2018, we had rain and temperatures between 80 and 70 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 82 degrees. We hit a record high of 101 back in 1933.

July 17, 2019 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. Half a week until vacation. πŸ–Life’s a beach. Then of course, Two weeks to my Teeth Cleaning Day πŸ˜ƒ. Mostly cloudy, humid and 76 degrees at the Elm Ave Park & Ride – CDTA. ☁ Raining up north in the Adirondacks, but not here. Calm wind. The dew point is 70 degrees. It was closer to 75 dew point in my bedroom when I was making pasta for lunch in my bedroom. Steam rises. Dew point has been near constant this morning. The skies will clear Friday around 11 am and incredibly hot. But once I get home from work I’ll grab the propane and fill the coolers and I’ll be on my way to Madison County.

I broke down and turned the fan on for a while last night for easy sleeping. 😴 I did cut it down to low by morning and had it off by the time I got up. I just really hate to waste energy and honestly I’d rather be comfortable in a wide range of temperatures, especially if I end up moving to a warmer climate in a few years or decades. The air conditioning on the bus is really nice, but I doubt it will be that cold when I get into the office, although I’ll probably draw the shades when I’m in the office.

Today will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 11am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Sounds like a muggy summer day. β›ˆ Mostly cloudy, with a high of 85 degrees at 2pm. Two degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 71 at 10am. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies. It was very sticky. The high last year was 80 degrees. The record high of 99 was set in 1900.

The sun will set at 8:29 pm with dusk around 9:03 pm, which is 42 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ Sunsets are now before 8:30. At sunset, watch out for thunderstorms 🌩 and temperatures around 81 degrees. The dew point will be 70 degrees. The heat index around sunset will be 74. β›± There will be a calm wind. Today will have 14 hours and 56 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 34 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between midnight and 1am, then a chance of showers after 1am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Cloudy 🌧, with a low of 71 degrees at 5am. Nine degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 71 at 6pm. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. In 2018, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It was somewhat humid. It got down to 62 degrees. The record low of 46 occurred back in 1939.

That article I shared this morning about living off-grid in San Luis valley, really is kind of fascinating. 🏠 I am not into trailer living, and I think making a life out in the desert must be hard, but there are many places that are much cheaper and freer then living the city in New York State. I don’t like Colorado as I see where that state is going politically — to the left — with more and more gun restrictions, and the cheap parts of the state aren’t really that nice. I’ve had a fascination with South Dakota, primarily because nobody ever talks about it — Missouri and Idaho are nice, but it seems like there is so much going on up there. But at any rate, I still need to save some more money, and I still have family locally here in New York, at least for a few more years.πŸ”

On this day in 1944, Near the San Francisco Bay, two ships laden with ammunition for the war explode in Port Chicago, California, killing 320. πŸ’£Also on this day, another deadly tragedy. In 1981, A structural failure leads to the collapse of a walkway at the Hyatt Regency in Kansas City, Missouri killing 114 people and injuring more than 200. It was a stupid engineering mistake, the connectors weren’t probably hooked up on the bridges that spanned the hotel. Amazingly though, the hotel still stands, and it is still renting out rooms, but the bridges are long gone.🏦

They’re still talking about a hot weekend, maybe a little more unsettled in the Finger Lakes, but that’s to be expected with the heat and humidity. Saturday, mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 95. β˜€Maximum dew point of 74 at 7am. Sunday, scattered showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny and hot, with a high near 92. β›ˆ Chance of precipitation is 30%. Maximum dew point of 71 at 6am. Typical average high for the weekend is 83 degrees.

All and all next week looks fairly nice, but I’m going to keep watching the forecast. Maybe some rain showers and thunderstorms, and maybe a cloudy day or two, ☁ but maybe much better then in recent years. It’s all because I’m not bringing my kayak, and I added the second battery to the solar system in my truck.😎 And except for the weekend, not unreasonably hot — by later in the week I may want my hoodie as it’s going to be cool in the evening.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until my Teeth Cleaning Day πŸ˜ƒ when the sun will be setting at 8:16 pm with dusk at 8:48 pm. On that day in 2018, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 86 and 67 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 82 degrees. We hit a record high of 98 back in 1917.
