Would You Ride This Bus to the State Office Campus?

Busway on Harriman Campus_0

That is when it’s 90 degrees out or -10 degrees out?

Think about it for a minute. Any bus rider who wants to ride the bus, under this rendering of the proposal will be forced to walk 500 feet with no shelter to their office building in the State Office Campus. If you not going to drive, the least you would expect would be the bus to drop you off in front of your office — especially if you’re a middle class person who works for government and can afford an automobile.

No Shelter from the Office to Bus

Not only would such proposal make you walk, but if it’s raining out, you would get quite wet. There are no provisions for a roof over the sidewalk from the bus stop — 500 feet in the pouring rain. If you’re a professional who wears a suit to work, good luck not ruining it on your daily bus commute.

A Dangerous Walk to Work

This picture suggests that one would have to cross not only the Busway to get to work, but the inner-loop of the State Office Campus. Look both ways, and maybe if the drivers are feeling very nice, maybe they will stop for you. But don’t bet on it! Run quickly, and buy yourself a good life insurance policy.

Not to Mention Most State Office Workers Don’t Even Live in the City

Most Middle-Class State Workers live in the suburbs, such as Clifton Park or Delmar. A bus that heads from Crossgates Mall to the State Office Campus — or worst from Downtown to the State Office Campus won’t help them out much at all, besides drinking up their taxpayer dollars.

Not Opposed to Bus Rapid Transit But Use Some Common Sense

It might make sense to speed buses up along Western Avenue by running them along one of the underused Ring Roads — possibly dedicated exclusively to bus use. Most of the traffic on the Route 10 bus goes between colleges, so avoiding some traffic lights might make sense. Or maybe the bus should just follow the existing State Office Campus Roads, with a simpler and cheaper connector to the University of Albany.

But it’s silly to build a bus station in the middle of nowhere that nobody is ever going to use, and claim your including the State Office Campus in your routing, when all your doing is driving through it to save time. If you want to improve transit, send more buses at an affordable rate to places where people actually live or park and ride to, rather than bus stop that will never be used.

CDTA_Northway_Express_bus

I had to laugh when I saw the proposed routing for the new BusPlus at the State Office Campus.

Probaby I’m a fool for riding my bike to work this morning ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

I am hoping the rain holds off for a while so I can ride to work. That said, who knows if I’ll get wet on the way in, and I concede I’ll probably be quite wet come the afternoon for the ride back to the express. I don’t expect to ride all that the way back to Delmar. It’s fine, I think we’ve made it to the mild part of the year, and I can’t imagine the green up is far away.

Good morning! Clouds and a bit damp with the breeze picking up, around 55 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜๏ธ There is a south-southeast breeze at 14 mph. ๐Ÿƒ with gusts up to 24 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. The dew point is 43 degrees. The skies will clear Friday around 3 pm.

At five o’clock this morning โฐ I got the bread and spaghetti squash a cooking, along with a pot of cranberry beans. ๐Ÿซ˜๐Ÿž Two types of bread baked, one is carrot ๐Ÿฅ• bread and the other one is onion bread. ๐Ÿง… Dinner tonight, which I’m sure I’ll be enjoying after getting soaked on the ride home โ˜” will be chicken ๐Ÿ” soup. Eggs ๐Ÿฅš for breakfast.

Riding in this morning ๐Ÿšฒ but I concede it will likely be the last time this week. ๐Ÿ˜” Just going to rain most of the second half of the week. โ˜” Probably get wet riding from Menands to the old train ๐Ÿš‰ station in the evening waiting for the bus ๐Ÿš but in the evening I don’t care and can get changed when I get back home ๐Ÿก.

Today will have showers likely, mainly after 2pm. Cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 61 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 18th. Maximum dew point of 49 at 5pm. South wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 67 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1922. 5.7 inches of snow fell back in 1961.โ„

Not going to be the nicest day ever โ˜” but not so cold and I have to work. Plus I appreciate how mild it’s been and I’ve had my windows open helping to ensure lots of fresh air at night for good sleeping. ๐Ÿ› I feel well rested after last night with the windows open. ๐ŸชŸ I’m glad the nicer weather is back again. Yesterday felt so nice with the temperature reaching the mid seventies by afternoon with lots of sun โ˜€.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:57 pm with sun having an altitude of 55.5ยฐ from the due south horizon (-15.3ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:55 pm with the sun in the west (276ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (282ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:32 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 57 seconds with dusk around 8:01 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west (277ยฐ) at an altitude of 23ยฐ from the horizon, 231,965 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:36 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 57 degrees. The dew point will be 50 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 14 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 49 seconds over yesterday.

Last night went to the park ๐Ÿž and read for a while before coming home to knead bread. Dinner was sweet potatoes ๐Ÿฅ” and onions and other good stuff. I didn’t carry a physical book, ๐Ÿ“™ just more reading with that Libby App. It’s pretty awesome. ๐Ÿ“ฑ

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly after 4am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 50 degrees at 5am. 15 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 20th. South wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2023, we had clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 37 degrees. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1874.

Weekend looks kind of suck again. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, a chance of showers before 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Sunday, a chance of showers after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 62. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Maximum dew point of 46 at 7pm. At least it will be wet until the green up reducing the fire risk. ๐Ÿ”ฅ Typical average high for the weekend is 58 degrees.

Believe it or not there are 3 weeks until May ๐Ÿ•Š when the sun will be setting at 7:57 pm with dusk at 8:26 pm. On that day in 2023, we had rain and temperatures between 59 and 45 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 66 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 2001. By then things should be greening up nicely at least outside of the high country and the Adirondacks. ๐ŸŒธ

Broken

Carrots are the magic ingredient in anything baked that’s good ๐Ÿฅ•

I do maintain that as I eat my ever so delicious pancakes. Just like with bread and cakes nothing beats the sweetness and softness that carrots bring to cooking. And that sugar high is great for the ride to work this morning.

Good morning! Tuesday, Tuesday. Second gear of the week. Mostly sunny and 37 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. โ˜€ When there is no hope, there is spring. ๐ŸŒธ

Carrot pancakes again for breakfast. ๐Ÿฅž Johnnycakes last night for dinner. You know, loaded with onions, spinach and spices. They’re easy and taste so good. ๐Ÿšฒ Riding in early this morning so I can take the long way in on this beautiful spring morning. Feeling good after a good night’s sleep. No smoke alarm โฐ issues this night plus I sleep so much better with the windows open. ๐Ÿ› Smelled smoke when I awoke but it was wood smoke and not the least bit acrid so I figured it didn’t matter just a fire place somewhere.

Today will have increasing clouds โ˜€ ๐Ÿ‘‰ โ˜, with a high of 72 degrees at 4pm. 16 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 17th. Calm wind becoming north around 6 mph in the morning. I’d say this is yesterday’s forecast for the eclipse but it’s slightly warmer. A year ago, we had sunny skies. The high last year was 55 degrees. The record high of 77 was set in 1991. 13.3 inches of snow fell back in 2000.โ„

New landlord emailed me said he was having somebody come by to inspect and measure the windows. ๐ŸชŸ Seems a little sketchy but I’ll make sure to have my curtains drawn when I’m walking around nakid, lol! ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ I’m glad at least it seems like they’re renovating the unit next door, but I do wonder what they’re doing measuring and checking the windows. Well, if I have to move I’ll have to move.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:57 pm with sun having an altitude of 55.2° from the due south horizon (-15.6° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.2 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:53 pm with the sun in the west (275°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (282°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:31 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 57 seconds with dusk around 7:59 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west-northwest (281°) at an altitude of 11° from the horizon, 229,725 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:35 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 65 degrees. There will be a southeast breeze at 6 mph. Tomorrow will have 13 hours and 14 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 49 seconds over today.

It was nice enough last night to go down to the park ๐Ÿž after dinner and riding home ๐Ÿšฒ the long way. Finished through Chapter 36 of the Robert Caro’s Power Broker audio book – 45 hours but played at 2x speed so more like 22 ½ hours listened to so far. Only maybe 15 hours left, as the 1940s fade into the fifties, and Moses’ final big works with the Power Authority and the Cross Bronx Expressway and ultimately his downfall under Governor Rockefeller.

Tonight will have a slight chance of showers after 11pm. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 47 degrees at 5am. 12 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 11th. South wind 6 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2023, we had clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 30 degrees. The record low of 21 occurred back in 1974.

Might do the park again ๐Ÿž though I need to find some more e-books to read next. ๐Ÿ“š That Libby app is so great. The rest of the week with rain coming looks like crap unfortunately for going to the park but I have conventional books I can read then. ๐Ÿž Going to bake bread and spaghetti squash tomorrow and soak beans for cooking in the morning. Thinking about making chicken noodle soup ๐Ÿœ for Wednesday, likely a cold and wet day. Though not too cold.

Weekend looks kind of cool and shitty like usual. ๐Ÿ’ฉ And I’m not talking about the cow crap they spread before the rain to soak it good into the ground. Saturday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 59. Typical average high for the weekend is 58 degrees. Maybe the following weekend I’ll take a long weekend to head out of town, depends on the weather.

But wait there’s more with, next Tuesday having an Average High is 60 ๐ŸŒท when the sun will be setting at 7:40 pm with dusk at 8:08 pm. On that day in 2023, we had partly cloudy, warm weather and temperatures between 78 and 57 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 60 degrees. We hit a record high of 91 back in 2012.

Setting Sun

Sunny morning for the shopping day ๐ŸŒž ๐Ÿ›’

Still a cold morning, but that sun puts you in a good mood. Off to get groceries and get going on my day. Still a fair amount of snow in the hilltowns, so I’ll have to consider that if I want to go out hiking later on.

Good morning! Today 7:30 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ‡ . Partly cloudy and 35 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a north breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 3 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Started the morning with pancakes ๐Ÿฅž, you know the usual conventional type I make with oatmeal, carrots and bananas pulverized for sweetness, some milk and egg and a bit of whole-wheat flower for binder. Good stuff in my perspective, especially once topped with lots of cherries and blueberries and real maple syrup. ๐Ÿ Probably good for a sugar high too, but I figure the carrots and oatmeal will provide some fiber and the egg some fats to slow down the absorption and hopefully not damage my pancreas too much.  ๐Ÿฅ• Remember while all the kids were eating candy ๐Ÿฌ over the holiday weekend, I was staying away from all that crap.

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 52 degrees at 5pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 1st. North wind 7 to 11 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 48 degrees. The record high of 87 was set in 2010. 3.2 inches of snow fell back in 1896.โ„ Should be warm enough to at least have the windows open, air things out a bit and get the humidity down. I re-installed the smoke detector as I think it will work better now that my apartment isn’t so humid and smokey from cooking.

Shopping is the top of the agenda this morning. ๐Ÿ” Truth is my pantry isn’t in terrible shape, but I want to shop today so I can avoid going later in the week. The grocery store is usually best for stock early on a Sunday morning, and then I’m done and can leave Big Red parked all morning. I should also re-fill my propane tank  ๐Ÿฎ lest I decide to head out of town for the weekend. Asparagus ๐ŸŒต is on my list now that we are in spring, plus I’m thinking maybe make red lentil soup for lunch today with a bunch more of those carrots, maybe mixed with some cottage cheese and topped with nutritional yeast. Sounds yummie. ๐Ÿ˜‹

Then maybe I’ll head out for a bike ride for a while. ๐Ÿšฒ๏ธ Nothing too major, maybe just a quick ride out to Five Rivers or Voorheesville. Honestly, it’s kind of a chilly not very nice day. That wind makes it cold, and there just isn’t a lot of warmth in the sun this morning. I was thinking about going to Partridge Run and crusing the backroads, looking for land, but I don’t want to hike in the snow. Next weekend I might camp out that way though. That said despite the cold wind, ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ  it does make things a lot more cheery having some sun. ๐Ÿ˜€ Tomorrow looks much nicer for going back to work, on my bicycle, and then watching the eclipse in the afternoon.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:58 pm with sun having an altitude of 54.4° from the due south horizon (-16.4° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:51 pm with the sun in the west (274°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (281°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:29 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 57 seconds with dusk around 7:57 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:32 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 49 degrees. There will be a north-northeast breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 5 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 49 seconds over yesterday.

Yesterday the bike ride didn’t happen, ๐Ÿ“š๏ธ but I did get through reading an e-book and a physical book, one about the contracting process of building a house and the other about Tiny Houses. I am not that interest in a tiny house, but I want to learn as much as possible about the process of building a house and working with construction materials, plus I’m still thinking small but not tiny cabin style of house ๐Ÿ›– on lots of land. But will it happen this year? Maybe not. Okay, probably not. But I am learning a lot, and maybe if I do find a property that catches my eye and heart ๐Ÿฅฐ and I find a way to make peace  โœŒ๏ธ with the way things are in New York, I’ll be good.

Landlord was working on the unit next to mine,  ๐Ÿ˜๏ธ which I’m glad to see he’s improving before he re-rents it as it means I should be good in my current unit for another year, a bit at a somewhat higher rent. My apartment is still a dump, though I don’t blame myself that much for it at this point, but it’s not in anyone’s interest to improve my unit while I’m still here. I stay here because it’s cheap, not because it’s my only option. Been learning what it would take to improve my apartment, and while I won’t be doing it, I don’t feel guilty for things wearing out and being of need of repair over the past 15 years. I could have been more insistent on immediate repairs,  ๐Ÿ‘จ‍๐Ÿ”ง but honestly I don’t care that much about a building that ain’t mind and is mostly a bed between days at work and trips. At least I don’t think I’m in immediate risk of eviction. Worse comes to worse, I move  ๐Ÿšš and end up paying more in rent. ๐Ÿ’ธ

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 30 degrees at 5am. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 29th. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph. In 2023, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 28 degrees. The record low of 19 occurred back in 2018.

I am watching the forecast for tomorrow ๐ŸŒ˜ and it doesn’t look that bad for the eclipse. Sucks that I have to work, but I got eclipse glasses ๐Ÿ•ถ๏ธ for the whole team to enjoy watching the eclipse from the work parking lot most likely. Or maybe I’ll ride down to the Corning Preserve, though honestly I think the best view of the eclipse will be from the second floor of my building with the south side windows overlooking the Interstate 90 where the elevator is located.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Cinco de Mayo ๐Ÿค  when the sun will be setting at 8:01 pm with dusk at 8:31 pm. On that day in 2023, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 64 and 40 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 68 degrees. I’m looking forward to do days like that. We hit a record high of 91 back in 1944.

Route 10 Farm

Walking it from the Emperor’s Plaza to Menands ๐Ÿšถ

Bussing it downtown today because I don’t want to get soaked on the evening commute riding home. Instead, I figure I’ll catch the early bus in and walk from the Plaza to my office in Menands for some steps. Figure that way I can skip the shuttle while getting more exercise in.

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Mostly cloudy and 38 degrees at the Elm Ave Park and Ride. โ˜ There is a north breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Thursday around 5 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

I was told it was an impressive sunrise ๐ŸŒ… but I don’t have a good easterly view from my apartment. Pancakes with lots of ground carrots ๐Ÿฅ• and oatmeal in them topped with blueberries and real maple ๐Ÿ syrup. I wish I could be riding in today but walk from the Plaza to the office in the suburbs ๐Ÿข will be good. I catch the early bus in the morning so I have more time to walk. ๐Ÿšถ

Today will rain likely, mainly after 4pm. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a high of 48 degrees at 1pm. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 24th. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 46 degrees. The record high of 77 was set in 2010. 8.0 inches of snow fell back in 1924.โ„

So yes, it’s going to rain ๐Ÿ‘ฃ so best to get my steps in early. Yesterday I got my truck washed, ๐Ÿ›ปand stocked up on groceries. ๐Ÿ›’ Spent more than I would want to but that’s the normal thing with inflation. Pulled out some salmon from the freezer that will be dinner with some veggies. ๐ŸŸ๏ธ๐Ÿฅฆ

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:59 pm with sun having an altitude of 52.5° from the due south horizon (-18.3° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.6 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:46 pm with the sun in the west (272°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (278°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:23 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 7:51 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:25 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 46 degrees. There will be a southeast breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 51 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain likely, mainly after 5am. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 37 degrees at 6am. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 15th. Southeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. In 2023, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 24 degrees. The record low of 16 occurred back in 1954.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 46. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 52. Typical average high for the weekend is 55 degrees.

As previously noted, next Tuesday is 7:30 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ‡ when the sun will be setting at 7:32 pm with dusk at 7:59 pm. On that day in 2023, we had sunny and temperatures between 55 and 29 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 56 degrees. We hit a record high of 77 back in 1991.

Harvey Mountain Road

The wind is roaring and the lights are out ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ

I’m still going to ride my bike to work as I’m crazy, lol. I may not be in my wilder years, but I like riding and I wish I had that off grid property about now that I was searching for yesterday about now. Hopefully my shaving in the dark wasn’t that bad. Probably be doing that more when I own that land, lol.

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. And it’s dark with the time change and no electricity. Mostly cloudy and 34 degrees in Delmar, the land without power, says the boy researching property for an off grid homestead. โ˜ Breezy, ๏ธ25 mph breeze from the northwest ๐ŸŒฌ with gusts up to 46 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. The current wind chill is 21. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 8 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

I was up at 5 AM which was good because the power was out at 6:45 AM. ๐Ÿ”Œ  Fiber-rich carrot and oatmeal pancakes for breakfast today. ๐Ÿฅž My breakfast was done and I was getting ready to shower, ๐Ÿšฟ when the power went out, so I ended up showering and shaving ๐Ÿช’ in the dark. Fun times!

So yes, definately riding in this morning. ๐Ÿšฒ It’s windy as all get out, and probably will be cool riding alng Erie Boulevard, but surprisingly much of the commute isn’t bad as the deep gorge helps protect it the trail from cross winds. ๐ŸŒฌ Heck, I might even ride home, but it depends on how windy things are come the evening. Going to be sunny later on, and now with the time change, we have sunlight until 7:30 PM, well at least some daylight. Won’t be rushing against darkness tonight, which is great. ๐Ÿ˜€

Today will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny โ˜, with a high of 40 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 2nd. Windy, with a northwest wind 25 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 49 mph. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 41 degrees. The record high of 70 was set in 1977. 4.1 inches of snow fell back in 1941.โ„

Yesterday was nice seeing the folks, ๐Ÿ‘ช and cruising the back roads looking at property, ๐Ÿ›ป though some of the roads were quite muddy and one of the properties I wanted to check out is up a “currently” seasonal use only road, and was impassible as there was a few inches of snow in Berne, and with the mud I wasn’t going to get stuck. ๐Ÿ I am most interested in imperfect property, as it’s likely more affordable and with the good ol’ boy neighbors ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐ŸŒพ which I think would be most compatible with my way of living. I kind of really like the idea of living on a dirt road, though maybe in the winter and mud season I’ll have second thoughts, lol.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:06 pm with sun having an altitude of 43.9° from the due south horizon (-26.9° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 6.2 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:20 pm with the sun in the west (260°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (266°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 6:58 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:25 pm, which is one minute and 11 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west (263°) at an altitude of 15° from the horizon, 227,362 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 7:59 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 39 degrees. The wind chill around sunset will be 28. โ˜ƒ๏ธBlustery, ๐ŸŒฌ with a stiff breeze at 26 mph the northwest with gusts up to 44mph. Today will have 11 hours and 47 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.

It will be nice having daylight in the evening. ๐Ÿž Probably too cold to go to the park after work but if the wind isn’t that bad I’ll try to ride home. But it will be nice having daylight in the evening, for a walk or even just doing some reading. ๐Ÿ“š Sure, it’s not truly spring time yet, and 7:30 PM dusk is still pretty early but you have to work with what you have.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 32 degrees at 6am. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 2nd. Breezy, with a northwest wind 16 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. In 2023, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 21 degrees. The record low of -12 occurred back in 1948.

Today in 1993, Janet Reno is confirmed by the United States Senate and sworn in the next day, becoming the first female Attorney General of the United States. โš– She was kind of a jerk but many people who get appointed to that job kind of are, even though Ramsey Clark was awesome in his later years.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 54. Sunday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Typical average high for the weekend is 45 degrees. Maybe I can finally get out camping this weekend. I guess it depends. If not, I do want to either poke around Coeymans and New Baltimore in search of land and properties, or maybe Rensslear County. It would be fun to do some hiking and camping with such an adventure. ๐Ÿƒ‍โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ• ๐Ÿ›ป

Looking ahead, there are 3 weeks until April Fools Day ๐Ÿคก when the sun will be setting at 7:23 pm with dusk at 7:50 pm. Trout season opener. ๐ŸŽฃ On that day in 2023, we had rain and temperatures between 74 and 41 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 52 degrees. We hit a record high of 77 back in 1986.

 South
