November 29, 2019 8 PM Update

Good evening! Partly clear and 30 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north-northwest breeze at 7 mph. 🍃. Things will start to thaw out at tomorrow around noontime. 🌡️

Chilly night out. ❄ Much colder up north I’m sure. The nights are kind of long this time of the year and I’d probably have retired to the tent pretty early due the cold and because the heater is so nice and warm in the tent. Never made it to the store 🏬 today but did to the library on this But Nothing Day.

I’ve probably put two hours on the excerise bike today so I’ve gotten my exercise for the day. 🚲 One of the pedals fell off and I was concerned that the threads were getting stripped but it seems to be working well. But it’s been a pretty cold and gray day. ☁

I did walk down to the library and got the new version of the blog push forward. This template is built in a simple way that should be easy to maintain going forward, and hopefully be somewhat faster loading and more reliable with some stylish features and a better index and layout. βœ’ Now I just have to come up with some new content. I just have to find data to download and map. Maybe Sunday. I also got some books out to read. 📙

Tonight will be mostly clear 🌃, with a low of 20 degrees at 6am. Seven degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around December 18th. Maximum wind chill around 13 at 6am; Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph. Chilly. In 2018, we had clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 18 degrees. The record low of -10 occurred back in 1875.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent Moon 🌒 with 21% illuminated. The moon will rise at 10:48 am. The First Quarter Moon is on Tuesday night with mostly cloudy skies. The Cold Moon 🌝 is on Wednesday, December 11th. Next weekend if I decide to go north, the moonlight might be nice on the snow if it’s not too deep. Tomorrow, the sun will rise at 7:03 am with the first light at 6:32 am, which is one minute and 7 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Haven’t you noticed how dark the mornings really are? Tonight will have 14 hours and 40 minutes of darkness, an increase of one minute and 31 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 33 degrees at 1pm. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around December 23rd. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 45 degrees. The record high of 67 was set in 1933. 7.1 inches of snow fell back in 1972.❄

It looks like we might have upwards of a foot of snow β›„ come Monday with the snow starting on Sunday. I can’t believe already I have to think about my winter parking location. I might throw a tarp over the roof of the truck again for easy snow removal once it stops. I like to keep the solar panel clean so it keeps the battery topped off during the week.

In four weeks on December 27 the sun will be setting at 4:28 pm,🌄 which is 4 minutes and 28 seconds later then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had cold weather, mostly sunny and temperatures between 17 and -4 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 32 and 17 degrees. The record high of 60 degrees was set back in 1895.

Looking ahead, Saint Nicholas Day 🎅 is in 1 weeks, Latest Sunrise of the Winter 🌄️ is in 5 weeks and 37th Birthday 🎉 is in 2 months.
