May 19, 2021 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. Pandemic is over, back to working downtown although I’d be all for working from next to Lake Pleasant πŸ—» but that’s not to be. Next Wednesday is Flower Moon πŸŒ• . Sunny and 61 degrees at the bus stop 🚏 next to the Valero. 🌞 There is a north-northwest breeze at 5 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 50 degrees.

Today will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 86 degrees at 4pm. 14 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 50 at 8am. North wind around 6 mph. About a perfect spring day without a drop of humidity. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 70 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 1989. There was a dusting of snow in 1976.❄

There is the old saying, the more things change, the more they stay the same. πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸ’Ό It seemed like for a while that everything changed but now is going back closer to normal. It was a fun year for sure and it will be nice to see my colleagues but working at a desk downtown isn’t like working next to Lake Pleasant. πŸ’»At least in the office I won’t have to watch the bandwidth constantly or worry about the state of charge of batteries. πŸ”‹

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 67.2Β° from the due south horizon (-3.6Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 7:35 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (292Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-northwest (299Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:16 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 17 seconds with dusk around 8:47 pm, which is one minute later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the First Quarter πŸŒ“ Moon in the southwest (215Β°) at an altitude of 58Β° from the horizon, 235,596 miles away. πŸš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:30 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 76 degrees. The dew point will be 52 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 14 hours and 46 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 54 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear πŸŒƒ, with a low of 57 degrees at 5am. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around June 12th. Maximum dew point of 55 at 10pm. Calm wind. In 2020, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 45 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 2002.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. πŸ˜• Saturday, a chance of showers after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Maximum dew point of 62 at 1pm. Sunday, a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 81. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Maximum dew point of 62 at 10am. Typical average high for the weekend is 73 degrees.

I am leaning towards staying in town this weekend. 🏑 There is plenty of summer left and I’m waiting for hot weather and days down at the Potholers. πŸŠπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ I am so happy that Piseco-Powley Road is going to be open this summer and things will be back to normal.

As previously noted, next Wednesday is Flower Moon πŸŒ• when the sun will be setting at 8:21 pm with dusk at 8:55 pm. On that day in 2020, we had hot weather which was mostly sunny and temperatures between 90 and 64 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 74 degrees. We hit a record high of 94 back in 2010.
