July 27, 2016 Afternoon

Good afternoon! Where does the time go so quickly? Today is already July 27th of July and the midpoint of my vacation. Sunny and 83 degrees in Newfield at the Robert H. Treman State Park. A few fair weather clouds. There is a southwest breeze at 6 mph. The dew point is 63 degrees. A bit more humid then we expected this morning but certainly not oppressive. Yes, I’m going to soon find out how truly frigid the swimming area in Enfield Glen. At least it’s pretty and something one must visit at least once a year.

Today will be sunny, with a high of 86 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees above normal. A very nice day expected, at least here on Hector Backbone. West wind around 6 mph. Maximum dew point of 63 at 10am. Gradually declining humidity as the day progresses. Should be a beautiful day. The record high of 97 was set in 1955. The sun will set at 8:31 pm with dusk around 9:03 pm, which is 1 minutes and 2 seconds earlier than yesterday. Today will have 14 hours and 36 minutes of daylight, a decrease of 2 minutes and 2 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low of 65 degrees at 5am. Three degrees above normal. North wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable. Maximum dew point of 60 at 6am. The record low of 44 occurred back in 1971.

Plan to spend my evening at Foster Pond doing some fishing and looking at the starts well into the night. Should be another delightful summer night. They really don’t make them much nicer.

0.2 inch of rain expected between Thursday 8am and Friday 7pm. 0.3 inch of rain expected between Saturday 8am and Sunday 7am. Mostly from widely scattered thunderstorms. Within the next four days, a total of 0.5 inches of rain is expected. No muggy weather expected at this time.

There are 2 weeks until National Smores Day when the sun will be setting at 8:14 pm with dusk at 8:45 pm. The average high temperature is 81 degrees, with a record high of 96 in 1949.
