January 9, 2016 Night

Good evening. Currently overcast and 41 degrees. A great evening for sure. Tonight will have rain likely, mainly after 4am. Patchy fog before 3am, then patchy fog after 4am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 40. Southeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Waxing crescent moon has already set. Tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 7:24 am with first light at 6:52 am, which is one minute and 17 seconds earlier then today.

Nice enough of an evening to sit out back with just a sweater and sipping on a cold one or three. If it I wasn’t so tired, I’d set up the Big Buddy heater and sit out back all evening.

Went to Colonie Center and picked up some clothes for work and exchanged the sweater I ordered online but didn’t like with one that I liked. It’s somewhat different than the sweaters and sweater vests I have, and it has a zipper in the collar but it’s a nice navy blue and looks casual but professional. It’s a heavy cotton like my existing sweaters and vests. Also got a new Sears Oxford shirt like the ones I like but with blue stripes. Change is good. The Sears Oxford shirts are super durable but eventually they wear out in the sleeves or get torn after two years of wearing them for work then play. I also spilled bleach on one of them, permanently leading it wearing around the house on weekends or in the woods.

Did some mall walking for about an hour, just doing laps back and forth. It was good exercise after a lazy morning. I also walked down to the library and did my evening walk. Probably walked like 6-7 miles and while it wasn’t climbing a mountain, it was still good for health and half made up for drinking out back, although not on my tailgate because my truck is parked the wrong way.

Went grocery shopping and picked up the supplies I need for the next week . I really try to avoid starting Big Red up during the week, especially for stupid little trips in the city. For those short trips, Big Red can really eat gas and I worry about discharging the starting battery. I can always stop on the bus on the way home and pick up a few groceries at Hannaford.

Big Red started up pretty good shopping tonight and I had to the accessory battery and CB Radio and cellphone connected the whole time the truck was running. I noticed that the starting battery was sitting a little low when I got home (12.55), so I started it up a little bit and pulled the cigarette voltage meter, as recommended by the shop, to make sure that I have no problems come morning. I’ve left that voltage meter in all summer long, but I concede it does draw needed cranking amps all night long when it is cold out. Still, it’s good to have when camping.

It’s starting to get a bit cold this evening. I’ve had a couple of drinks and I’m tired. At any rate, I hope you had a good day. Sleep well!
