August 13, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Next Thursday is World Mosquito Day 🐞. Sunny and 78 degrees at the Finger Lakes National Forest. 🌞 Calm wind. The dew point is 61 degrees.

I can’t believe it’s already Thursday. That said, I’ve been taking it easy this week just enjoying my vacation πŸ– and not trying to rush and see as many places as possible πŸ‡ in my limited time. I’ve made the decision to camp at the same site all week – which in some ways makes the time go by faster. But I’m happy 😊 with my choices and relaxed. And I sure like no cell service here. πŸ”•

This morning started out cloudy and gray ☁️ but as the sun rose the clouds started to part. The air was very still and would have been perfect πŸ‘ŒπŸ» for kayaking πŸ›Ά on Seneca Lake but I figured by the time I got out there the air would heat up, a breeze would develop and the lake get choppy. With such big lakes, while oriented north and south helps, it doesn’t take much breeze πŸƒto get choppy.

I am quite unhappy πŸ˜’ that I forgot to get coffee yesterday. β˜• I actually looked at buying coffee at Tops on Monday but decided against it when I saw the price. Plus they only had the smaller coffee tins, πŸ₯« I prefer the bigger ones that I can reuse β™» for storing camp ice rather than becoming garbage right away πŸ—‘ once the coffee is used up.

I am thinking today of hiking part of the Dresden – Penn Yann rail trail. πŸš‚ Never been to Kueka Lake or that part of the Finger Lakes but I’m told it is beautiful. Might stop at Watkins Glen for a swim in the evening but no kayaking today as I didn’t want to have to carry it around all day and I wanted the solar power. β˜€ Undecided about Friday but I think Saturday I’ll hike back down to Caywood Point with a fishing pole 🎣 and bathing suit. πŸ•ΆοΈ
