April 13, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Another week working from home, at least I don’t have to pay a bus fare. 🚍 Probably do make up for it with electricity and other bills though. Two weeks to Arbor Day 🌳. Rain and 56 degrees in Delmar, NY. β˜” Breezy, ️23 mph breeze from the south-southeast 🌬 with gusts up to 34 mph πŸ’¨πŸ’¨πŸ’¨. The dew point is 53 degrees. Warm enough that my windows are open. Just wish we had more sun this morning. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Thursday around 2 am. β˜ƒοΈ

Today will rain before noon, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after noon. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. 🌧 High of 66 degrees at 5pm. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 6th. Maximum dew point of 56 at 1pm. πŸ–οΈ Windy, with a south wind 23 to 29 mph, with gusts as high as 44 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. That could be a pretty driving rain at times – hopefully I won’t get caught in it if I have to go out later. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 74 degrees. The record high of 87 was set in 1977. 5.5 inches of snow fell back in 1950.❄

Today I need to get to the post office βœ‰ and the laundromat. πŸ‘š I’m hoping to do that between the driving rain β˜” that is expected later. I also need to get to the grocery store, but I’m trying to put that off for later on a nicer day and combine trip to Aldi with a hike in Rensselaer County. 🍏

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:56 pm with sun having an altitude of 56.7Β° from the due south horizon (-14.2Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 6:58 pm with the sun in the west (277Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-northwest (284Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:36 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 59 seconds with dusk around 8:04 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:40 pm. At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and temperatures around 64 degrees. The dew point will be 52 degrees. Breezy, 25 mph breeze β›… from the southwest with gusts up to 45mph. Today will have 13 hours and 19 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 47 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 43 degrees at 5am. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 1st. Breezy, with a west wind 18 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 45 degrees. The record low of 19 occurred back in 1973.

Looks like a decent spring weekend but a bit cool. 😎 Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 52. Sunday, a chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 59. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Typical average high for the weekend is 60 degrees.

I will probably do an overnight or two in the woods should the forecast remain consistent. β›Ί Not necessarily going far away into the rough country although I would like some time up in the woods. I’ll have to give it some thought. My fishing 🎣 license is expiring today, I’ll have to get a new one although I don’t know if I can print one as I don’t have a printer but I can request one online and take my chances – I doubt any one is going to be out checking and even if they are its not the biggest fine ever for not having the tsg on in person especially if you have already purchased the license. 🎫

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Arbor Day 🌳 when the sun will be setting at 7:51 pm with dusk at 8:21 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 50 and 40 degrees. It was cold last April too. Typically, the high temperature is 63 degrees. We hit a record high of 91 back in 1962.
