This sign is on a tree a top the mountain near the old firetower.
Taken on Sunday March 7, 2010 at Black Mountain. It has been converted over to an emergency communications tower for the DEC Forest Service. I was disappointed, as I had hoped to climb it to enjoy the great views to the south.
Taken on Sunday March 7, 2010 at Black Mountain. As the snowmobile trail climbs the mountain, it narrows and grows progressively steeper. It's not a bad trail for snowshoers, as the snowmobiles must proceed slowly up such a steep mountain.
Taken on Sunday March 7, 2010 at Black Mountain. After crossing a brook, the trail descends steeply. Their would be stairs made out of logs, that is hidden by the snow and ice.
Taken on Sunday March 7, 2010 at Severance Hill. There is a culvert tunnel that takes the Severence Hill Trail under the Adirondack Northway from the Parking Area in Schroon Lake to Severance Hill on the west-side of the Northway. It's kind of ironic that "Severence Hill" access was almost severed by the Northway.
