A bit of a chilly start to a nice Tuesday ahead ๐ŸชŸ

I concede that it doesn’t help that I left at least some of my windows open last night and all of them are open now for the fresh air.

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Sunny and 35 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒž There is a south-southeast breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Thursday around 2 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Johnny cakes are with broccoli and onion ๐Ÿง… this morning topped with Greek yogurt. A very filling breakfast for sure. Had a banana ๐ŸŒ and some coffee โ˜•. Nice sunny ๐ŸŒž morning, looking forward to riding to work. ๐Ÿšฒ

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 66 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 29th. South wind 5 to 15 mph. The record high of 87 was set in 2007. 2.4 inches of snow fell back in 1956.โ„

Caught another mouse last night ๐Ÿชค, this time not the big sucker of last time. ๐Ÿ Since the neighbor moved out and they’ve been renovating the unit next door ๐Ÿšช been catching more mice. That mouse zapper trap remains awesome as it’s so easy to use time and time again. Easy to clean and rarely do mice eat the bait before getting zapped. Then you just dump them out.

Today will have 13 hours and 49 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 39 seconds over yesterday.

Got the basics at Hannaford yesterday, ๐Ÿ›’ you know onions, broccoli, ๐Ÿฅฆ and frozen fruit. ๐Ÿ“ In the morning I got bananas ๐ŸŒ and apples ๐Ÿ to eat at work. It’s nice being able to stop on the way home when I bike commute. I guess that’s a convience I miss by busing it to work. Made a quick stir fry ๐Ÿณ when I got home last night and then went to the Town Park ๐Ÿž for a walk and to read ๐Ÿ“– for a while. Ebooks are great, free from the library.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly after 3am. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 44 degrees at 6am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 3rd. One of the great things about being able to computer program ๐Ÿ–ฅ is when the programs they give you at work aren’t working properly you can code your own. That is really handy. Been so busy at work lately but maybe it’s because I’m always coding and working on improving processing at work. But I love the job ๐Ÿ˜ and always want to be improving things. Already got to run the label ๐Ÿ”– job for the May birthday ๐ŸŽ‚ mailer today. How fast the month comes and goes. I think that means today is a pay day too.

The weekend doesn’t look half bad. โ˜€ I’ll have to figure out something fun for Saturday. Probably not camping this weekend as I did it last. Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 61. Maximum dew point of 41 at 7pm. Sunday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. Maximum dew point oyvf 57 at 3pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 65 degrees.

Friday, Friday! ๐ŸŒ…

Good morning! Happy Friday! Foggy ๐ŸŒ and cloudy and 46 degrees in Delmar. Many of my windows were closed earlier but they’re back open now. There is a south-southeast breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The skies will clear around 10 am.

Carrot pancakes ๐Ÿฅ• with Greek yogurt and strawberries ๐Ÿ“ were breakfast today. Up a little before 5 am, after breakfast did a bit of reading ๐Ÿ“– about custom house ๐Ÿก building. I keep studying building plots. I need to seriously study CPAs and how to create a plan for managing my money ๐Ÿ’ต as part of the building plan. And I keep varying how much land I want.

Today will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a high of 59 degrees at 3pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 15th. South wind 9 to 17 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 47 degrees. The record high of 92 was set in 1976. 8.8 inches of snow fell back in 1983.โ„

Going to ride to work today, ๐Ÿšฒ might bus it home in the evening depending on the weather. It might rain โ˜” again this evening and is expected to rain during the overnight so not going camping ๐Ÿ• tonight. Maybe tomorrow I’m undecided.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:55 pm with sun having an altitude of 58.8ยฐ from the due south horizon (-12.1ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.6 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 54 degrees. Breezy, 18 mph breeze โ›… from the south with gusts up to 28mph. Tomorrow will have 13 hours and 41 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 42 seconds over today.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly between 9pm and 5am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 45 degrees at 6am. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 5th. South wind 13 to 18 mph decreasing to 7 to 12 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2023, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 37 degrees. The record low of 19 occurred back in 1875.

Tomorrow will be cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny โ˜๐Ÿ‘‰ โ˜€ , with a high of 58 degrees at 2pm. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 13th. Northwest wind 9 to 15 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 66 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1941. 5.8 inches of snow fell back in 1947.โ„

I might do a quick overnight camping ๐Ÿ• tomorrow but it depends on the morning tomorrow though maybe I should decide by evening so I can get gear together ๐ŸŽ’๐Ÿฅพ and maybe run to the store and top off the propane tank. ๐Ÿฎ It looks like tomorrow evening and night would be good for a fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ and Sunday would be nice for a spring time hike.

Looking ahead to Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 55. โ˜€ West wind 10 to 15 mph. A bit breezy it would seem. But nice if not a bit cool. But at at least things are greening up. Typical average high for the weekend is 62 degrees.

Looking ahead, there are 3 weeks until Average High is 70 ๐Ÿฎ when the sun will be setting at 8:07 pm with dusk at 8:37 pm. On that day in 2023, we had sunny and temperatures between 77 and 39 degrees. Maybe that weekend I’ll do the Catskill Scenic Trail with everything green and spring like then. We hit a record high of 92 back in 1970.

The rains a coming on this Hump Day ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

I’m up early and bussing it to work doing laps walking on the Concourse. Been a while since I’ve been downtown but I figure it’s a good chance to get in some steps before work.

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. Cloudy โ˜๏ธ and 38 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a south-southeast breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. There are 2 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธTemperatures will drop below freezing at Saturday around 6 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ I can keep the heat off for now, didn’t even need the electric blanket last night.

Pancakes with carrots, oatmeal banana and cinnamon topped with mango and blueberries with real maple syrup, ๐Ÿฅž just waiting for the blood sugar crash. ๐Ÿ˜‹ Probably should have had more protein with breakfast besides the egg in the batter, though carrot, whole wheat flour and oatmeal should slow the absorption of the sugar.

Today will have showers, mainly after 10am. ๐ŸŒฆ High of 49 degrees at 4pm. Typical for today. South wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 52 degrees. The record high of 78 was set in 1998. 6.7 inches of snow fell back in 1959.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:01 pm with sun having an altitude of 50.2ยฐ from the due south horizon (-20.6ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:39 pm with the sun in the west (269ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (275ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:16 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:44 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:18 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 48 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 7 mph. Tomorrow will have 12 hours and 36 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over today.

Yesterday for dinner was reheated ham soup ๐Ÿฒ from the parents house and homemade bread ๐Ÿž which was good with some shredded apple ๐Ÿ and shredded oatmeal with cinnamon for dessert. ๐Ÿ˜‹ I decided to do a bike ride ๐Ÿšฒ out along Meads Lane to see the cows ๐Ÿฎ and get a bit more exercise as I knew I wouldn’t be riding to work today. ๐Ÿ˜” I did ride both ways yesterday to work but rain today. โ˜” Maybe I’m just making excuses and making the bus company rich.

Tonight will have a chance of showers. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 40 degrees at 4am. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 22nd. South wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2023, we had light rain in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 33 degrees. The record low of 85 occurred back in 1945.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Good Friday, mostly sunny, with a high near 49. Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 50. Breezy. Easter Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 51. Typical average high for the weekend is 51 degrees.

I still haven’t heard about Good Friday โœ๏ธ but I am inclined to thst believe that I will have it off but it hasn’t been made official yet probably because of the state budget crap. These days I’m glad I’m no longer working Capitol Hill. ๐Ÿข I will probably pack tonight, and I’m hoping to use my get out of jail early card for Thursday but who knows. I’d kind of like to get bacon ๐Ÿฅ“ on the way to the ADKs from For the Love of Bacon but they close at 5 pm, plus I want to get up north fairly early not just to crack open a beer ๐Ÿป but because it takes more time to set up camp โ›บ in the snow. The bacon place is open at 7 am on Good Friday so I could do the bacon thing on Friday and go up early as an alternative assuming that I don’t know about Good Friday until tomorrow.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until 8 PM Dusk ๐ŸŒ† when the sun will be setting at 7:33 pm. On that day in 2023, we had sunny skies and temperatures between 67 and 30 degrees. That works for me. Typically, the high temperature is 57 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 1922.

Whitney Point MUA Sign

Made it to Saturday – what a week ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

I tried to sleep well last night, but now I’m fried. I’m trying to get up and moving — but it’s tough. My head is just spinning from the week that was. Nothing serious, but it’s just so much to learn at my new job, more stupid little bull-sheet that’s just left me fried after the week that was.

Good morning! Partly sunny and 45 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐Ÿ˜Ž There is a south breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Monday around noontime. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Definitely enjoying not having the heat on this morning. โน I opened up the kitchen window and the one in my bedroom that don’t require removing the storm windows. The fresh air was so refreshing. Tonight though will be cool enough, I’ll probably need to close the windows before bed, but I’m enjoying the fresh air as I can.

Breakfast this morning was a big pan of eggs ๐Ÿณ with lots of onions, broccoli, corn, and peas. Probably too much tumeric but that’s a given. I’ve been avoiding going to the store to get milk, โ˜• and cutting back on my coffee consumption, so only one pot — I mean cup of coffee this morning as that is all that my milk supply would allow. This afternoon I’ll have to get more milk at Stewart’s. ๐Ÿฎ

Today will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 4pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 63 degrees at 2pm. 28 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 22nd. South wind 6 to 9 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. If it gets that warm, it will blow through many previous records. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 51 degrees. Almost record breaking warmth. The record high of 53 was set in 1955. That said, during the second half of February we’ve had a few 70 degree records in the past. 4.0 inches of snow fell back in 1892. ๐ŸŒจ Not much of a record for winter.

Today is going to be a nice day and I want to maximize it. ๐Ÿ›  I’ve continued to tweak the derailer on my bike ๐Ÿšฒ, a constant source of frustration but I have it working pretty smooth now. โš™ I’m learning a lot about bike mechanics. I do need to get it to the mechanic for a good tune up before the spring rush. ๐Ÿ“ž I should call about an appointment so it get serviced before the spring rush. Knowing how mechanics are these days, probably won’t get an appointment to late March.

I have a list ๐Ÿ“ƒ of things to do today but heading out for a bike ride to Voorheesville ๐Ÿšฒ in the nice weather followed by maybe visiting Five Rivers Environmental Education Center for a walk is high on that list. The best weather is going to be earlier so I should get an early start. ๐ŸŒฅ More clouds and ultimately rain later.

High on my list for today is finishing up the draft of the map ๐Ÿ—บ I’m making for Save the Pine Bush as they’re looking for it but I’ve been busy and just so tired ๐Ÿ˜ด lately that I’ve not spent much time working on it. But it would be good to have a, draft presented of the map as they’ve been looking for it. Every revision it gets a little better. ๐Ÿ”

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:11 pm with sun having an altitude of 32.9ยฐ from the due south horizon (-37.9ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 9.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 4:40 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (244ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (251ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:20 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 4 seconds with dusk around 5:49 pm, which is one minute and 19 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west-southwest (247ยฐ) at an altitude of 5ยฐ from the horizon, 226,440 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:23 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and thunderstorms ๐ŸŒฉ and temperatures around 53 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 8 mph with gusts up to 20mph. Today will have 10 hours and 23 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 35 seconds over yesterday.

I got to go to the post office ๐Ÿ“ฌ to give them $3.52 to bail out the USB cable โŒจ๏ธ I bought that didn’t come with the USB keyboard switch I bought last week. Yes, a different seller scammed me again on EBay ๐Ÿ–ฑ๏ธ this time sending me the cable that I was supposed to come with USB keyboard switch I bought. This time they couldn’t be bothered to put sufficient payment on the package so my choice was to refuse the package ๐Ÿ“ฆ and probably never get the cable or hand over the money to the post office. I’m only $17 in the hole for what should have been a $8.65 refurbished switch had Ebay not screwed me over twice. ๐Ÿ˜ก I was angry as duck ๐Ÿฆ† last night ๐ŸŒƒ but for $3.52 more I’ll have closure once I get to the post office later. I can be angry but it’s stupid, not that much money. I’m constantly broke these days with inflation but whatever, I’m also making good money.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly before 9pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 35 degrees at 6am. 18 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 10th. Southwest wind 6 to 11 mph becoming northwest in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2023, we had partly cloudy skies. It got down to 23 degrees. The record low of -18 occurred back in 1962.

Too bad it’s going to rain this evening ๐ŸŒƒ, I’d love to sit out back with the mild weather. It’s fine I promised mom and dad to bake bread ๐Ÿž this evening for Sunday dinner. Then I want to get to bed ๐Ÿ› early so I can be up and rising early to go grocery shopping ๐Ÿ›’ tomorrow. I tell myself my pantry is well enough stocked that I won’t have another big grocery bill but with inflation I know thats a lie. ๐Ÿ It’s so hard to get ahead today even with what most people would consider to be a good job.

Looking ahead, next Saturday is 5:30 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ‡ when the sun with dusk at 5:57 pm. I’m excited about that as it means I can ride my bike home after work, once the snow is off the bike path. No bus fare for you, Mr. Bus Serivice. On that day in 2023, we had mostly cloudy, mild, rain showers and temperatures between 55 and 23 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 36 degrees. We hit a record high of 60 back in 1981.

Ashokan Reservior and Ashokan Mountain

Hoping for a smoother Tuesday today ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿš’๐Ÿงฏ

I did not appreciate missing the express bus home yesterday or the smoke alarm repeatedly tripping off after cooking dinner. Or repeatedly hitting the wrong keys in VIM at work yesterday, half awake on a Monday. But the salmon and frozen asparagus was good for dinner as was the larger paycheck with my new job.

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Clouds and 28 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ Calm wind. There are 3 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at around 1 pm. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

Made it through my birthday ๐ŸŽ‚ without anybody saying anything besides my mom= and a few people at work. I keep my birthday locked down on Facebook as I get tired of all the fake happy birthdays you get on Facebook. I really don’t appreciate all the unwarranted attention to myself and my age, I’d rather tell my story but otherwise he ignored. Maybe that’s why I don’t do the social media.

Yesterday was a Monday and kind of a shitty one but it was always silly stuff. ๐Ÿ’ฉ The kind of things that you can hit escape and then u in vim and undo. I just wasn’t feeling Monday, even if was my forty first time around the sun โ˜€. The smoke detector that kept going off time and time again from cooking smoke and moisture ๐Ÿง‘‍๐Ÿš’ really set me off as did having to ride the local home. ๐Ÿก Then I had to piss and crap so badly that I barely made the toilet ๐Ÿšฝ and had to clean up the seat but fortunately not my pants ๐Ÿ‘– this time. ๐Ÿคฏ All that fiber and water from eating lots of fruits and vegetables can be tough at times. Especially spaghetti squash ๐Ÿ† which I find hard not to overeat but can he very lubricating of the gut and everything connected. Gawd, I’m getting old ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿผ.

I got this enormous glass ๐Ÿธ at work as a Christmas gift that I love and when it’s full of water ๐Ÿ’ฆ and ice ๐ŸงŠ it’s so easy to overdo it and I was busy at the end of the day with work ๐Ÿ“„ and didn’t have time to run to the bathroom before catching the shuttle ๐Ÿš€ back to the Plaza. And then missing the express bus ๐Ÿš. Yeap. Forgot my fork ๐Ÿฝ at lunch yesterday and didn’t have a spare one in my new office ๐Ÿข so the cooked part of lunch with peas, corn, peppers and tofu got skipped for lunch as that ain’t finger ๐Ÿ–• food. The milk ๐Ÿฅ› I had in the mason jar for my coffee โ˜• at work went rancid. That was a Monday, my birthday. ๐ŸŽ‚

I’m thinking today won’t be such a shit show ๐Ÿค” or so I tell myself. ๐Ÿฅž Woke up at five o’clock like usual with no alarm โฐ and made some good oatmeal banana ๐ŸŒ pancakes. I’ve finally mastered a good recipe that is absolutely delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹ topped with mango and blueberries with real maple ๐Ÿ syrup. The real stuff is so much better even if it’s slightly more calories. It’s not like I eat much meat or milk high in saturated fats these days or processed foods or added sugars so I figured I can use a little bit of natural sweetness occasionally like honey ๐Ÿฏ or pure maple syrup.

Went for a five mile bike ride this morning after breakfast before showering and catching the express bus downtown. ๐Ÿšฒ Not so cold this morning for a change. My hands ๐Ÿ‘ weren’t cold nor was my face. The cows ๐Ÿฎ on Meads Road were up and around chewing their cud not all huddled together. ๐Ÿšœ It was nice for a change. I probably would have gone for a longer ride, but time was tight as it was close to 6:50 AM when I got out riding. One thing is nice is that the mornings are a lot brighter then they were.

Today will have patchy freezing drizzle before 10am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a high of 33 degrees at 2pm. Typical for today. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 41 degrees. The record high of 56 was set in 2013. 11.0 inches of snow fell back in 1966.โ„

After all of it, dinner last night was good, ๐ŸŸ even if the fire alarm problem was annoying. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿš’ I am not sure why it’s been such a problem with the smoke detectors this winter. I got a new smoke detector hoping it would stop false alarms, ๐Ÿ”• without much luck. Fresh asparagus are hard to get this time of year, but the frozen ones weren’t bad. ๐ŸŽ Looking forward to spring ๐Ÿฐ when the fresh ones are more available for a reasonable price, like around Easter. ๐Ÿ‘ฃ Evening walk was good too. I need to get back in the habit, if my fingers are cold all of the time, ๐Ÿงค I should learn to toughen up and get better gloves. It’s not like I have as much of an opportunity to get steps in working in the suburban office, though come nicer weather when I don’t have to dress up as much, I’ll probably be back to riding back in and home from the office. I figure after President’s Day, there will be enough daylight in the evening to ride home, and that’s where the real calorie burning takes place. ๐ŸŒง With the rain and cold, I’ve really gotten out of the habit, and my stomach and face are starting to show it.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:09 pm with sun having an altitude of 29.6° from the due south horizon (-41.2° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 10.6 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 4:24 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (239°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (247°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:06 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 10 seconds with dusk around 5:35 pm, which is one minute and 18 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:10 pm. At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies โ˜ and temperatures around 32 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 7 mph. Tomorrow will have 9 hours and 59 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 18 seconds over today.

Maybe I’ve been overly cranky, but the smoke detector thing in particularly really set me off yesterday, ๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿš’ especially after such a long and difficult birthday. I am so done with winter, ready for nicer weather and longer days. At least the mornings and evenings aren’t as dark we move into February. I have a lot to look forward to once we get over the hump of winter. โ›„ I think what I really need is just more time in the wilderness. ๐Ÿ• Maybe this weekend.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 25 degrees at 4am. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 11th. South wind around 7 mph. In 2023, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 18 degrees. The record low of -26 occurred back in 1948.

It’s always nice to see a bit of money in bank account ๐Ÿ’ฐ before the money goes into retirement, investments, and my landlord’s slice. ๐Ÿ˜ My apartment is a dump but it’s affordable.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, sunny, with a high near 35. Sunday, sunny, with a high near 35. Typical average high for the weekend is 33 degrees. I am thinking of doing an overnight in the woods this weekend, though I wish I had skis โ›ท but I should be able to ride roads if the trails have too much which they might. Kind of a birthday weekend camping adventure. โ›บ But a week late. Probably won’t head too far out of town for that. President’s Day Weekend, depending on how much snow there is, I might head up to the Adirondacks or Madison County.

As previously noted, next Tuesday is Save the Pine Bush Turns 43 ๐Ÿฆ‹ when the sun will be setting at 5:16 pm with dusk at 5:44 pm. On that day in 2023, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 41 and 21 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 34 degrees. We hit a record high of 55 back in 1991.

Open Water

Happy Final Friday of January 2024! โ˜”

Kind of a wet one to flush away the month of January. I’m up early walking laps on the Concourse in the Emperor’s Plaza. I was thinking if I wanted to do some cardio I could do the stairs in LOB, though truth be told I’ll be here come midday for diversity training and then I’m going to work the rest of the day in my old office.

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Heavy rain and 38 degrees at the Elm Ave Park and Ride. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ There is a southeast breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Not much snow left after the warm temperatures and the rspTemperatures will drop below freezing at Sunday around 3 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

For some reason I didn’t sleep well last night ๐Ÿ› so I’m up early walking ๐Ÿšถ the Plaza. I just find it hard to sleep with the windows closed and I need another night in the wilderness but alas it’s January for a few more days and the woods is going to be a mosh pit after all the rain of recent. ๐Ÿฝ I have diversity training today, so I’ll need to stay awake for that. And lots more reports to run. I need to figure out how to get Docker running on my work machine ๐Ÿค– to automate that further.

Breakfast this morning was pancakes ๐Ÿฅž made from carrots ๐Ÿฅ• and apples with some egg and whole wheat flour for binder with cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice and honey ๐Ÿฏ to top. Then I decided I was still hungry and wanted some protein, so I had some Greek yogurt and strawberries ๐Ÿ“ as a side. โ˜• Looking forward to more coffee when I get in the office. Last night it was pea soup ๐Ÿฅฃ with carrot bread which came out so moist and tender, reminded me almost of carrot cake. By the end of the week I think I will have eaten nearly five pounds of carrots.

Today will rain, mainly before 10am. Patchy fog after 5pm. ๐ŸŒง High of 43 degrees at 4pm. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 9th. Southeast wind 6 to 10 mph becoming northeast in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 41 degrees. The record high of 59 was set in 1950. 8.5 inches of snow fell back in 1949.โ„

Bike ride in and hike was good, ๐Ÿšฒ though on a cloudy day like yesterday it was darker than I would have preferred for riding across the Water Street Bridge. Didn’t help there was a bunch of debris from crashes on the shoulder. I should have enough time that in the future I might ride through Corning Preserve ๐Ÿž and over the pedestrian bridge as an alternative.

I’m getting used to suburban office ๐Ÿข with its acres parking ๐Ÿ…ฟ which everybody tells me is a good thing but I find it hard to believe. I just find the corporate architecture to be so soul depraving with the acres of cubicles, florescent lighting and the very square windows that are few and far between. At least I can make it work with the buses ๐Ÿš and it’s an easier bike ๐Ÿšฒ ride. I enjoyed riding in yesterday and riding down to the river at lunch time, โ˜บ It will be nice come summer. Acres of parking probably is good if I’m planning on going out of town after work.

I do think I’m doing good work, ๐Ÿ–ฅ putting my data science skills and Unix knowledge to hood work in the new position. Change is good, I think I’m rapidly getting up to skill. Plus it’s a good resume builder as I can say I’m using Unix text utilities, SQL and R processing in a o

One last week of being forty โณ

I guess I’m getting old. But hopefully once my birthday comes and goes things will start to thaw out again. Winter can’t last forever, regardless of what a Pennsyltucky varmint says a week from Friday.

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Mostly clear and 8 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. ๐ŸŒ… There are 2 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at around 1 pm. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

The hell with my hands ๐Ÿ‘‹I’m going out riding. ๐Ÿšฒ It’s cold โ„ and my fingers might get swollen and stiff but I need to get some exercise as I’ve been lethargic all weekend with the cold and wind. Mom thinks I need better gloves ๐Ÿงค but I’m tired of having swollen stiff fingers. I’ll be fine once I warm up plus I like seeing the cows ๐Ÿฎ and the rural landscape riding Meads Lane in the morning. With the rain and warmth coming later in the week it’s possible once again I will be able to ride work. โ˜บ

Today will have increasing clouds โ˜€ ๐Ÿ‘‰ โ˜, with a high of 33 degrees at 2pm. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical day around January 26th. Yes this week we get past the coldest time of year. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 36 degrees. The record high of 62 was set in 1906. 12.9 inches of snow fell back in 1987.โ„

I never used to have a problem with the cold โ„ but it bothers me a lot more these days. Says the boy who winter camps in an unheated pickup bed in January and goes for bike rides on eight degree days. But it never used to so damn painful. I mean I still keep my heat at 49 degrees in my apartment but I do like the heated blanket more and more but then again I sleep in just my boxers and an under shirt. ๐Ÿฉณ But the cold does bother me a lot more.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:07 pm with sun having an altitude of 27.6° from the due south horizon (-43.2° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 11.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 4:12 pm with the sun in the southwest (236°). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (244°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 4:55 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 15 seconds with dusk around 5:25 pm, which is one minute and 15 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Full ๐ŸŒ Moon in the east (82°) at an altitude of 35° from the horizon, 242,145 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:01 pm. At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies โ˜ and temperatures around 33 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 8 mph. Tomorrow will have 9 hours and 41 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 59 seconds over today.

As I mentioned the other day, my new office has coffee โ˜• but not milk ๐Ÿฅ› and like it in my coffee. They have fake creamer made from whey and corn syrup but I much the real stuff from the teats of animals that go moo and smell like silage. ๐Ÿฎ So I’m bringing in a mason jar into the office with milk plus cinnamon, ginger and vanilla for good drinking. They also have an ice maker in the new office which is perfect ๐Ÿ‘Œ for iced coffee come the summer. ๐ŸงŠ

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 25 degrees at 5am. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 11th. Maximum wind chill around 23 at 6pm; South wind around 7 mph becoming west after midnight. In 2023, we had light snow. It got down to 30 degrees. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1970.

I didn’t make bread this morning, ๐Ÿž but I probably will tonight knead up some dough for cooking in the morning. I figured skip the carbs this morning, plus I’m thinking stir-fry for dinner tonight. ๐Ÿ‘จ‍๐Ÿณ Also want to use up an older sweet potato I have before I risk it going bad. ๐Ÿ  In breakfast I included some meatballs with the eggs I had to further clean out the freezer. Trying to use up the last of the less healthy stuff from last year so I have more room in the freezer going forward for healthier options going forward. Left to use up is two frozen grocery store meatballs, an never opened pack of Falvo’s Meatballs, and some fish sticks. Thinking of using the remaining grocery store meatballs and fish sticks in various meals this week. ๐ŸŸ With lots of vegetables ๐Ÿฅฆ and other healthy options.

Cloudy, mild and showers this upcoming weekend. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ Saturday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. Sunday, a chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 39. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Typical average high for the weekend is 33 degrees. I am considering potentially doing a winter camping trip to celebrate my 41st birthday, but maybe not as things might be all mud ๐Ÿท with all the rain expected. But certainly mild. I still think the best chance to get out of town is going to be Presidents Day, though I’m watching the weather before then. Still after the rain and mild temperatures, the rail trail should be free of snow and ice ๐Ÿšฒ for riding again.

As previously noted, next Monday is my 41st Birthday ๐ŸŽ‰ when the sun will be setting at 5:05 pm with dusk at 5:34 pm. On that day in 2023, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 44 and 22 degrees. Not divisible by five, no carrot ๐Ÿฅ• cake ๐ŸŽ‚ for me at work but then again I had a going away, or at least going up to North Albany party two weeks ago and I still have cake in my freezer, lol. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Typically, the high temperature is 33 degrees. We hit a record high of 54 back in 2002.
