November 24, 2016 Night

Good evening! Foggy and 35 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. Not real thick fog here in Delmar, just kind of a dreary damp higher level fog. We are stuck in a cloudy period for a while. The skies will clear Sunday around 7 pm.

Tonight will have a slight chance of rain and snow before 11pm, then a slight chance of drizzle. Patchy fog after 11pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low of 35 degrees at 10pm. Six degrees above normal. Light southeast wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%. One year ago, mostly clear with a low around 24. The record low of 2 occurred back in 1938.

Waning Crescent Moon tonight with 26% illuminated. The moon will rise around 2:01 am. The New Moon is on Tuesday night with chance of rain expected. The Full β€œCold” Moon is on Wednesday, December 14th.

Tomorrow will have a chance of drizzle, mainly after 1pm. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high of 46 degrees at 2pm. Two degrees above normal. Light south wind. Last year, mostly sunny with a high around 47. The record high of 64 was set in 2004. There was 21.8 inches of snow back in 1971. That’s a lot of snow, especially in November. The sun will rise at 6:59 am with the first light at 6:28 am, which is 1 minutes and 10 seconds later then yesterday.

Thanksgiving was incredibly delicious at my parents’ house. My parents make a good Thanksgiving dinner. I hope I can make it there for Thanksgiving for many years to come.

One month from now it will be Christmas Eve for those keeping track of such things. Christmas is a fun holiday. I don’t know if I will be camping this year, I guess it depends a lot on the weather.

I’ve gotten a lot better at night driving, since all my experience driving at night in North Syracuse. The trick, while well documented, is just to use the white fog lines or the sides of the road to navigate. I think since lifting my truck I’ve had trouble judging the edge of the road, but it seems like recently I’ve gotten better.

Went out for my evening walk tonight. 2.5 miles round trip around the high school. Nice evening, hopefully burned off some of those Thanksgiving calories. Honestly though, I didn’t stuff my face as much as years past, although mom and dad’s cooking was still amazing. Got leftovers that I brought home.

Tomorrow I pick up my new laptop. I have a bootable USB thumb drive ready so once I get it, I will shrink the windows partition and install Ubuntu Linux with the XFCE window manager. Then I just need to copy over the files, get my various programs re-installed. Hopefully will be mostly back in business by tomorrow afternoon and can start cranking out videos and maps once again. I put my trusty old Thinkpad back in the closet should I ever need it again.

I’m tired. I haven’t been up this late in a long time, so I better get some sleep. Good night.
