May 15, 2017 9 AM Update

A rather strange morning that started out as rain then clouds, and now a fair amount of blue skies. But dark clouds linger over the city. Up to 56 degrees on our way up to 62 degrees with more sun late.

The sun will set at 8:11 pm with dusk around 8:44 pm, which is one minute and 3 seconds later than yesterday. At sunset, look for partly cloudy conditions and 59 degrees. Breezy, 16 mph breeze from the northwest with gusts up to 29mph. Today will have 14 hours and 39 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 3 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low of 51 degrees at 4am. Four degrees above normal. Northwest wind 6 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. In 2016, it got down to 39 degrees with rain and mostly cloudy skies. The record low of 33 occurred back in 1980.

I was feeling a little bit under the weather this morning, so I caught the later bus to work. A bit of a stomachache and a headache but it’s faded as I had coffee and got ready for a work. A case of the Mondays I think.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Memorial Day when the sun will be setting at 8:24 pm with dusk at 8:58 pm. On that day in 2016, we had thunderstorm, rain, mostly sunny skies and temperatures between 89 and 68 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 73 degrees. We hit a record high of 93 back in 1931.

Monday has come back around. Some long days and evenings, non stop until the start of Memorial Day Weekend. At least it should make the time go by quickly and it will be the holiday weekend before you know it.

Wednesday is the Save the Pine Bush Dinner. This month we have a speaker talking about the proposed changes to the SEQRA process that the DEC has proposed. Should be an interesting lecture.

I am looking forward to the warm and sunny weather during the second half of the week, It will be nice sitting out back, enjoying the warm evenings. I’ll have to check the Mug-o-Meter but I don’t think it will be real humid this week although the latest forecasts do show more humidity pushing on.

It was too bad that the weekend was so wet, as this often is a nice early spring weekend in the Adirondacks. But it is what it is. It’s fine, I had to stay in town this weekend at any rate. Summer will be just around the corner and the black flies will be gone. I can’t wait for a very hot day at the potholers.

Have a great day! I’m almost to work.
