March 10, 2017 8 AM Update

Good morning, round 2. Around 32 degrees and cloudy this morning. There is a west-northwest breeze at 7 mph. The skies will clear around 2 pm. We are going to miss the snow but we will get sunnier later with Highs topping out around 35. It will feel colder as the wind picks up later in the afternoon.

The sun will set at 5:56 pm with dusk around 6:24 pm, which is one minute and 12 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 11 hours and 43 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a slight chance of snow between 10pm and midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low of 11 degrees at 6am. 15 degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around -5 at 6am; Blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Cold enough that I left the heat turned up a bit at home, so it doesn’t get too far behind. In 2016, it got down to 34 degrees with periods of rain. The record low of -10 occurred back in 1939.

Today in 1969, in Memphis, Tennessee, James Earl Ray pleads guilty to assassinating Martin Luther King, Jr. He later unsuccessfully attempts to recant.

As previously noted, next Friday is St. Patrick’s Day when the sun will be setting at 7:05 pm with dusk at 7:33 pm (Daylight Savings Time). On that day in 2016, we had fog, rain, thunderstorm and temperatures between 61 and 38 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 45 degrees. We hit a record high of 75 back in 1990.

I was watching a YouTube video last night and learned that it’s not a big deal to pull the rear seat if I must to feed the new power wire back to the truck bed from the low voltage disconnect. Only five non corroded bolts (no road salt inside)  to remove the entire seat.  I continue to think about how I will hook up the switches in the truck cap. Not going to happen this weekend with the cold.

I had to return my library books yesterday, but I’ll be back down to the library tomorrow to pick up more books tomorrow. I am sure I won’t be doing much outdoors things this weekend. It’s fine, I’d rather save the miles for hot summer days at the Potholers or Mine Kill. Tonight I’m going to set my clocks ahead an hour in preparation of the time change and continue to get up at a reasonable hour.

And I’m going to hit post now, so I don’t forget to click post later and leave the morning update not posted to late. Have a great day.
