Good evening! Rain and 50 degrees in Delmar. There is a north breeze at 6 mph. The skies will clear tomorrow around 9 am. Nice and warm weather going forward, but it will get hot and muggy the second half of week going into the weekend. 

Missed the rain going down to the library and back but now it’s raining once again. Pretty good showers but after tonight, things should start to dry out and warm up. Sunday through Tuesday next week will be hazy, hot and humid. 

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly before 2am. Patchy fog after 5am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low of 47 degrees at 4am. Seven degrees below normal. North wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2016, it got down to 58 degrees with rain and mostly cloudy skies. The record low of 37 occurred back in 1958.

Waxing Gibbous Moon tonight with 86% illuminated. The moon will set around 5:04 am. The Full “Strawberry” Moon is on Friday night with mostly cloudy skies expected. The sun will rise at 5:17 am with the first light at 4:43 am, which is 17 seconds earlier than yesterday. Tonight will have 8 hours and 46 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 54 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high of 73 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 51 at 9am. North wind 3 to 6 mph. A year ago, we had rain, mostly cloudy skies and a high of 77 degrees. The record high of 95 was set in 1999.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. Saturday, a chance of showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Maximum dew point of 60 at 6pm. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Maximum dew point of 65 at 7pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 77 degrees.

Generally quite pleasant but muggy for the second half of the weekend. I’m definitely going to the Adirondacks this weekend. Should be great, especially Sunday for swimming. I will also bring my kayak for some paddling too. I am still chewing over where I will go, one consideration is how much cell phone service I will need plus I suspect that there will be a bit too much water going over the potholers for peak enjoyment. At some point I want to get down to Little Falls and explore Moss Island but I’m not sure if this is the weekend to do that. Things might be a bit soft up north after all the rain but the next three days of sun and warm temperatures should dry things out. I might do Pumpkin Hollow and Wells as an alternative, although I don’t think that the beaches are open yet. Two more weeks after this weekend for most of the beaches to reopen. 

Got my gay pride flag in the mail today, it’s actually a two pack but reasonably good quality for $8. Same seller on Ebay as the Gadsden flag. Perfect timing, as I can hang it up in camp in time for pride weekend. It’s important to celebrate diversity in our country. Along with my American flag, my Gadsden flag, and my Earth Flag. I like adding color to the wilderness. 

I also want to secure those colored LED lights in my truck before I leave camping, even if I don’t get a chance to permanently wire up the switch on them. I was playing with them again after dark, a day they’re so colorful, especially in the color changing modes. Perfect for pride week. Red LED mode is a little dark but orange, yellow, green, blue and purple are vibrant. White is a bit cold. But I have a mode now for every color. I want to get more of these strips to use maybe inside the cab of my truck and even in my bedroom at home. Well, I’ll play more at home before deciding to buy more. Video to come later on.
