January 8, 2017 Night

Good evening! Partly clear and 11 degrees in Delmar. There is a northwest breeze at 11 mph. The current wind chill is -3. Cold evening but it is January. Pretty much a cold bleak weekend but so be it. 

Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low of 3 degrees at 5am. A bit chilly, 12 degrees below normal. Wind chill values as low as -4. Northwest wind 6 to 11 mph becoming light west after midnight. In 2016, it got down to 38 degrees under cloudy skies. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1968.

Didn’t do a whole lot of things this weekend, because it was so cold and bleak but I did some cleaning and some modifications to the blog. Had Sunday dinner at the parents house and went grocery shopping. Just kind of passing the time until spring rolls around again. It’s tough when one remembers what winter is truly like once again.

Waxing Gibbous Moon tonight with 76% illuminated. The moon will set around 5:44 am. The Full β€œWolf” Moon is on Thursday night with mostly cloudy skies expected and a chance of showers. The sun will rise at 7:24 am with the first light at 6:53 am, which is 13 seconds earlier then yesterday. Tonight will have 14 hours and 43 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 1 minutes and 19 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy, with a high of 21 degrees at 3pm. Nine degrees below normal. Wind chill values as low as -4. Light south wind increasing to 8 to 13 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had cloudy skies and a high of 45 degrees. The record high of 62 was set in 2008. 9.9 inches of snow fell back in 1953.

In four weeks on February 5 the sun will be setting at 5:16 pm, which is 34 minutes later then tonight. In 2016 on that day, we had mostly cloudy skies and temperatures between 41 and 24 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 32 and 15 degrees. The record high of 59 degrees was set back in 1890.

Looking ahead, My 34th Birthday is in 3 weeks, Daylight Savings Time is in 9 weeks, Palm Sunday is in 13 weeks, Easter is in 14 weeks, Mother’s Day is in 18 weeks and Father’s Day is in 23 weeks.
