January 29, 2017 7 AM Update

Good morning! Today is my 34th Birthday. Six weeks to Daylight Savings Time. Mostly cloudy and 31 degrees in Delmar, NY. The sun ain’t going to shine anymore. Blue skies are no longer available, as my phone would suggest. Okay maybe some but not a lot of blue skies today. There is a south-southwest breeze at 5 mph. The skies will clear around 7 pm.

Today will have a slight chance of snow showers between 11am and 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high of 36 degrees at 1pm. Five degrees above normal. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had snow and a high of 38 degrees. The record high of 54 was set in 2002. 8.3 inches of snow fell back in 1990.

The sun will set at 5:06 pm with dusk around 5:36 pm, which is 1 minutes and 19 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 9 hours and 54 minutes of daylight, an increase of 2 minutes and 18 seconds over yesterday. By the end of the week we will have gained almost an hour of daylight since dexe

Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 21 degrees at 6am. Six degrees above normal. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2016, it got down to 25 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. The record low of -12 occurred back in 1965.

As previously noted, there are 6 weeks until Daylight Savings Time when the sun will be setting at 6:59 pm with dusk at 7:27 pm (Daylight Savings Time). On that day in 2016, we had partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 62 and 25 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 43 degrees. We hit a record high of 69 back in 2012.
