Papish Pond State Forest

Papish Pond Multiple Use Area is located in the town of Cincinnatus in Southeastern Cortland County. Many different recreational activities can be enjoyed in this small area, including hiking, fishing, canoeing, hunting, trapping, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, bird watching, and nature viewing. Papish Pond Multiple Use Area is often considered a part of Gee Brook State Forest as they are located in close proximity to each other.

Many users enjoy the excellent fishing opportunities that the 38 acre pond, full of pickerel, yellow perch, bullhead, and largemouth bass, provides. It is a great place to hang out in a canoe, and there is a boat launch for non-motorized and electric motor boats at the pond located right off of Gee Brook Road. Gas powered motor are prohibited.

Camping is also a favorite pastime, with plenty of perfect spots nestled in the peaceful community. A permit from the local forest ranger is needed to camp.
