Good Evening! Happy Tuesday. Lots of Moose Plain Dreaming.

I Don’t Know Why, But I Like Doing These More Conversational Blog Posts. I think they’re more fun then the long form, more complicated blog posts I was going towards in earlier years. For sharing the shorter articles, Twitter is great. It seems like the old-type blogging is going away, although I continue toΒ occasionallyΒ post full blog posts.

Warm and Sticky Out Today.Β I also was warm and sticky out last night. I think it’s called summer. Some rain showers out today, but it’s also another hot and humid day. For a while we got some hail. Hopefully my truck wasn’t damaged.

Voted in School Board Elections Before Work. I always try to make sure to vote in elections. I figure it’s one time of the year that I can share my views on the local suburban school district’s policies, and at least cast a protest vote against raising people’s taxes year in and year out. It definitely effects the cost of living in Delmar and the rent.

Getting Ready for Going Up to Moose River Plains on Thursday. That’s the plan, come rain or shine, after work on Thursday. If it’s a complete wash out on Thursday evening, then I don’t want to drive Cedar River-Limekiln Lake Road in slippery, mucky conditions in limited visibility. I think I will go up on Friday then. But I really hope to get up there on Thursday, so I can spend all day Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and most of Monday up there.

I know it will be dark by time I get up there, or at least dusk, but I don’t care, as my truck can produce plenty of light in woods. I will probably buy firewood on Cedar River Road, so starting a campfire won’t be a problem. I haven’t been camping in 3 weeks, so I have plenty of burnables I can use as kindling (and avoids taking them to transfer station for recycling/disposal). I make sure campsites are cleaner then when I got there, taking home anything that doesn’t get fully burnt up to nothing.

It should be fun, eventhough I’m setting up in the dark. I will have a big cooler full of cold drinks, and another cooler full of good cold eats, packed in a lot of ice.

Then I will do some paddling, probably on the Cedar River Flow, maybe Helldiver Pond, and maybe the flatwater part of Moose River, off of Otter Brook Road/open part of Beaver Lake Road. Also thinking of hiking back to Bear Pond, one of the last lakes I haven’t been back to yet, or maybe leave the Plains one of the days, and go to Inlet, and go hiking to Bub, Sis, and Mud Ponds, or whatever they are called.

I might also do some paddling at Limekiln Lake and take a shower there, as I have an Empire Passport. Also, hiking up Black Bear Mountain and maybe back to Ferg’s Bog is a possibility, if I want to face blacktop in the my 5 days in wilderness. Probably I will have to go and get some over priced ice and other supply from the little General Store in Inlet.

Saw a Nice Toyota Tundra with Six-Inch Lift Kit. Looked really nice, and had factory wheels and BFG KO ATs that were close to factory size. Going that route might save a lot of money for other toys. Those big 35s are expensive — like 350 bucks a tire. Imagine having to replace them every 2 or 3 years. Yikes. But I will have to think about it more, when the time the comes in the fall. I certainly don’t want to get new tires until my current ones are totally shot, because even the standard tires on the full size pickups set you back like $175 a piece.

I know, there is better way to spend money. Bah.
