Horseshoe Lake Wild Forest 📍

Located mostly on the southern shores of Tupper Lake, Horseshoe Lake Wild Forest is popular for those adventurers looking to escape the crowds of Tupper Lake. There are six primitive camping spots available along Horseshoe Lake, with a few others away from the lake. The wild forest also has access of Lows Lake & Hitchins Pond Primitive Area for those looking to explore the area. The Bog River is a very popular destination, however the most popular hiking destination is the fire tower on Mount Arab.

Above Lower Lows Dam

Paddling up the "flooded" Bog River, in the lower portion of Bog River flow, right above the Lower Lows Dam. If this area was not flooded by dams, it would be rapids, unaccessible by canoe or kayak.

Along The Adirondack Scenic Railroad Tracks

On Tuesday night, I walked along the Adirondack Scenic Railroad Tracks, which get little use since last year's wash out by Rollins Pond. The tracks were quiet, as they wandered through the wilderness. I saw a black bear and cubs, and not being sure if I locked up my truck fully, I headed back to camp after walking out about 20 minutes on the tracks.
