State buys Huckleberry Mountain | Adirondack Explorer

New York State has purchased a Warren County property that includes the 2,400-foot Huckleberry Mountain, the governor’s office announced.

The 1,263-acre purchase includes Crystal Brook, which the state’s announcement called an excellent cold-water stream for brook trout, as well as a heron rookery and cliffs that peregrine falcons use for nesting. The New York State Open Space Conservation Plan and the Wilcox Lake Wild Forest Management Plan had prioritized purchasing Huckleberry Mountain.
