I am still chewing over my sort-of-decision to just go out to the Finger Lakes. It seems like such a let down from a grand trip out to Michigan, but a lot cheaper and lot less driving. The idea of being able to just have a quick 4 hour drive, set up camp around noontime and be able to hang out for a like 10 days, doing day trips to various places in the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier seems kind of appealing but also boring. But I don’t have to go to same places over and over again. Just the same old base camp on Chicken Coop Road or Potomac, and then do other things traveling from there, on days I don’t want to child at camp.

If I do the Finger Lakes for my vacation, Mom says she might get me a parks past regardless, so I can visit state parks unlimited times. But I’d also want to do and spend more time in the Southern Tier away from the State Parks I aways visit, and maybe visit some places in Pennsylvania. But still keep the same base camp, so I am not taking down and setting camp every other day. I liked the quiet, but also I am increadibly bored with the Finger Lakes. Michigian seems great, except for the drive. So I don’t know.

Last December, a local repair shop said “Big Red” would need frame repairs prior to passing inspection. I decided to take it off the road then and bought another truck. It took several months to acquire my new rig and move gear over, but now it’s time to sell.

THE GOOD

Ownership: I purchased this truck brand new in 2011. I am the sole owner and have the original clean title in hand.
Powertrain: 2011 5.3L V8, 119,144 rural/highway miles (not used for commuting). Runs well, no lifter ticking, starts right up (battery kept on a charger through winter). Drives and shifts smoothly.
Interior/Dash: Air conditioning blows cold. No idiot lights displayed on dash.
Upgrades: 6-inch BDS lift kit with leaf springs. 35-inch BFG AT KO2 tires put on in 2023 with significant tread life left, plus a full-size 35-inch spare. BulletLiner spray-in bedliner.
Cap: High-rise ARE MX Truck Cap equipped with premium Outdoorsman Windoors (side access windows with built-in screens).

WHY I AM SELLING

Three areas in the frame need section reinforcing/welding due to rust/rot to pass inspection and be made road-legal. The mechanic says it is completely fixable. However, because I often travel to remote country areas without cell service, I decided it was simply time to upgrade my truck rather than manage a project.
