Corn Harvest – Silage vs. Grain

This time of the year, you see some corn being harvested for silage and others still drying out in the fields, waiting to be harvested as feed corn with the proper amount of moisture. A good explanation of the differences and challenges of waiting for the corn to dry enough to be harvested while the fields haven't turned to winter slop.

How to feed your pigs for almost $0.00 !

Grinding your own field corn seems like a good way to save money but I think I would find a way to run the corn sheller mechanically as turning it seems like a lot of hard and unnecessary work. That home-made corn crib though is pretty neat and sounds like it works well for storage and drying of field corn. I'm actually very impressed by this small scale homestead operation.

Watch This Before You Buy a New Toyota Tacoma!

One of my top choices for replacing Big Red is a Toyota Tacoma but I want to learn about the pros-and-cons of the various models. I'd rather spend a bit more on getting the off-groad package rather then putting a lift kit afterwards, though sometimes I'll miss being so high up in the air but I tell you my lift kit so beat on my truck and I feel like a stock truck just has less to worry about.
