Gowanus Parkway 1951

By the early 1950s, the modern Gowanus Expressway hadn't been built yet but the 14th Street had been upgraded to be partly grade seperated as a feeder to the Battery Tunnel.

Columbus Circle in NYC

Columbus Circle is a landmark traffic circle and public square located at the intersection of Broadway, Central Park West, Central Park South, and Eighth Avenue in Manhattan, New York City. Positioned at the southwest corner of Central Park, it serves as the official point from which all highway distances from New York City are measured. 

  • The Monument: A 76-foot marble monument featuring a statue of Christopher Columbus, created by Italian sculptor Gaetano Russo and erected in 1892.
  • The Shops at Columbus Circle: A high-end shopping mall located inside the Deutsche Bank Center (formerly the Time Warner Center) featuring luxury retail, a Whole Foods Market, and Michelin-starred dining like Per Se. 
  • Jazz at Lincoln Center: A world-class performance venue located within the complex, featuring the Frederick P. Rose Hall.
  • Museum of Arts and Design (MAD): Situated right on the circle, celebrating contemporary craft, art, and design.
