Imagine strolling down a busy city street and snapping a photo of a stranger then uploading it into a search engine that almost instantaneously helps you identify the person.
This isn't a hypothetical. It's possible now, thanks to a website called PimEyes, considered one of the most powerful publicly available facial recognition tools online.
That website is pretty neat. Works well for me with all the pictures of me on the blog, lol.
One of the things I’m most proud of about GeoParquet 1.0.0 is how robust the ecosystem already is. For the 1.0.0 announcement, I started to write up all the cool libraries and tools supporting GeoParquet, and the awesome data providers who are already providing interesting data in the spec. But I realized it would at least double the length of the blog post to do it justice, so I decided to save it for its own post.
Catamount is a smaller prominence in the Adirondack High Peaks region, but is considered by many to be one of the classic shorter hikes in the area. It is often overlooked because of it's smaller stature, which is a huge mistake. This mostly bare mountains offer one of the few sustained "Alpine type" peaks. The last 0.8 miles is mostly steep over bare rock with many scrambles and three point hiking challenges. because of it's relative isolation, the views from the summit are first rate. One of the best views of Ester and Whiteface mountain in the entire area.
