Weather Update – May 28, 2022

The week ahead … 😎

Things should be improving after this morning, Sunday looks quite nice with the heat coming in on Monday. I am thinking about walking ðŸšķ out to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center later.

Sunday looks like too nice of a day to waste but with gas prices â›― what they are I doubt I’ll be heading far from home. Been thinking about possibly kayaking ðŸ›ķ in the Hudson River from Albany to Troy then Sunday and on Monday heading out to the folks house, maybe doing some paddling on Lawson Lake as it will probably be too hot for much hiking. 😰

It seems like the work load this week is lighter than expected 📄 so I could have headed out of town but I figure save whatever fuel I can for summer trips. ðŸĒ Next week will be super busy in the office so I doubt I’ll get up north next weekend ⛹ but I’m hoping by the following week for a three or four days. By then the worse of black flies season 🐜 will be over and the water ðŸ’Ķ temperatures not so cold.

Daily Update – May 28, 2022

Good afternoon! Happy Memorial Day Weekend 🇚ðŸ‡ļ

Not the greatest start to Memorial Day Weekend, it’s been kind of rainy on and off all morning. No real heavy rain but still hardly a banner weekend. But they say it will improve and even be hot come Sunday.

Rain showers, clouds and 73 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☔ There is a west-northwest breeze at 8 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 61 degrees. The skies will clear around 4 pm.

I got to leave work at two on Friday 🕑 which made me wish I had headed out of town as it seems like a quiet weekend. Got home, took a nap. I’ve been getting up at 5:30 am with the sunrise 🌅 but not getting to bed as early as I should. But alas summer is not over yet.

Last night I went down to the library 📚 for the first time in months. With my smartphone ðŸ“ą and the unlimited data plan I’m hard pressed to need the Wi-Fi much any more. After getting the SD card ðŸ’ģ issue resolved, my music ðŸŽķ and apps working I’m very happy with my new phone, like it more than the old one. And heck only $35.

This morning I’m doing some reading 📖 and learning about spatial data with R. I’ve been thinking a lot about how to use the redist package in R to do maximum gerrymandering mostly for fun. Also been trying to learn more about spatial correlation and how to find patterns in R. ðŸ–Ĩ

Later on if it’s not too stormy ⛈ I am thinking about hiking out to Five Rivers. ðŸĶ With gas prices at five dollars a gallon ðŸ’ļ I’m trying to leave Big Red ðŸ›ŧ parked as much as possible. I want to save the gas money for summer months when I can spend all weekend out of town. Plus I’m due for an oil ðŸ›Ē change fairly soon.

And knowing how busy and crazy ðŸĪŠ next week will be at work I’m in no rush to do much of anything this weekend besides taking it slow. But I know once I get past this week things will be so much quieter for at least a few weeks. Then I know the craziness of the even year autumn won’t be far away.

This weekend hasn’t proven as busy as I feared ⛹ and I could have headed north or to the Greens. 🌄 But it all comes back to five dollar gas. I don’t know why I fear the pump so much – I make good money ðŸ’ĩ these days but I also feel like with the money it’s a great opportunity to save and invest, especially with the markets down and stocks and bonds becoming more affordable. 📉

I just know personal restraint and hard work today 🧑ðŸŧ‍💞 means a better tomorrow. I see within ten to fifteen years owning my own land, looking out on livestock grazing ðŸŪ ðŸŒū living a life based on reality rather than escape. A life that doesn’t require a vacation. 🏖 Now really is the best time to take advantage of what i have and work hard. That sometimes means passing up on adventures.
