The Colonie Highway Department and/or the CSX Railroads some time ago closed off Old Karner Road, sticking an old tree trunk across it where it crosses the tracks. New Karner Road (Route 155), to the west of it, now crosses the train tracks with a high bridge, built circa 1965.
Saturday March 12, 2011 — Albany Pine BushI was curious to see how much of the lands of Clinton County are protected by Conservation Easements (orange) or by permanent set asides (green). Not a lot of agricultural easements in this part of state, but there are timber easements. Click on the map for more details about the easements.
A growing number of cities are looking at restricting the use of gas in new buildings to reduce climate emissions. But some states are considering laws to block those efforts, with backing from the natural gas industry. Today, NPR science correspondent Dan Charles takes us on a tour of three cities where this is playing out.
