Plattsburgh Gander Mountain to remain open
It isn't all bad news ... That said, I don't get up to Plattsburgh very much lately, although I did think about swinging by there before my April trip got rained out.

I hope you are enjoying today’s nice weather. Fifty years ago on May 11, 1967 it was cloudy and the high temperature was only 53 degrees. We had rain showers on and off during that day. Generally, May 1967 was a pretty damp, cloudy, and wet month. For most of that month, Albany had temperatures that were running 10-15 degrees below normal. It will be interesting to see if this month will turn out as bad as the weather a half century ago.
"Thhere have been rumblings regarding some sort of nuclear incident—or possibly incidents—in the Arctic over the last month. Multiple reports, some of them from official monitoring organizations, have reported iodine 131—a radioactive isotope often associated with nuclear fission—has been detected via air sampling stations throughout the region."
I thought they just restored the tower five years ago? Well, oops.
"New York state officials have closed a trail in the Adirondack Mountains until further notice because of safety concerns with the Wakely Mountain Fire Tower."
"The 92-foot tower was closed to public access last December because of structural problems, and the tower’s condition has since worsened."
"The Department of Environmental Conservation says there’s a chance the tower could collapse in heavy winds. DEC officials plan to make repairs as soon as possible to prevent a collapse."
Because the 1990s weren't that long ago. Back before I had so many gray hairs.
