August 24, 2016 Afternoon

At sunset this evening, we are looking at temperatures around 75 degrees under clear skies. Light southerly breeze and a modestly humid dew point around 62.

The sun will set at 7:41 pm with dusk around 8:10 pm, which is 1 minutes and 38 seconds earlier than yesterday.

Not a bad evening for sitting on the patio out back or fishing. Just be aware of the sunset that is occurring earlier every day.

August 24, 2016 – Today in History

Back in 1967, the Yippies of Abbie Hoffman’s Youth International Party temporarily disrupts trading at the New York Stock Exchange by throwing dollar bills from the viewing gallery, causing trading to cease as brokers scramble to grab them. As they say, it’s all about the something money.

August 24, 2016 Morning

That fog is rapidly disappearing this morning and we are now up to sixty six. Calm wind. The dew point is 58 degrees. Not a bad start for our Wednesday.

Today will be sunny, with a high of 86 degrees at 3pm. Seven degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 61 at 5pm. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. With the relatively low dew point and the breeze, it’s bound to be a nice day. The record high of 95 was set in 1947.

Enjoy this nice summer day, four weeks from now will be the first day of autumn. On the first day of autumn, September 21, the sun will be setting at 6:52 pm, which is 48 minutes earlier then today. The average high is 70 degrees, and the record for that date is 95 degrees was set back in 1895.

But for now, I have to think about my weekend plans. I’m really undecided about heading up to the Wells / Spectacular area versus Schoharie. They do have those nice town beaches but it’s much more of a drive up north. Been to Schoharie a lot this year. I don’t know. We will see.
