March 30, 2017 9 AM Update

Listening to the Dixie Chicks’ Cowboy Take Me Away, as the local bus takes me downtown on this cold but sunny later March morning. We are at 34 degrees on our way up to 49 degrees. As I left the heat turned down before bed last night it was pretty cold to wake up. I also felt pretty congested too. But with the sunshine, the corn waffles and a good hot shower, I’m feeling better.

The sun will set at 7:20 pm with dusk around 7:48 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. Today will have 12 hours and 40 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will snow likely, mainly after 5am. Cloudy, with a low of 32 degrees at 6am. One degree above normal. Northeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible. In 2016, it got down to 49 degrees with periods of rain. The record low of 12 occurred back in 1923. Yuck. I think this may be the first March 31st snow storm I can remember I’m recent memory. I guess I’ll take the bus to work and figure out a plan as the day progresses.I guess I can always take a seven AM bus home on Saturday if need be. Might be a safer option than drowsy driving.

At ten o’clock last night, I went to bed and turned off the PBS Newshour. Surprisingly the whole show wasn’t about the president’s follies. There needed to be a check on the Democrats worse instincts but I think things swung too far in the opposite direction. Hopefully votes will restore some balance to the system come 2018. Change is a good thing. I’m still a bit drowsy this morning but maybe that’s just my anticipation of Friday into Saturday.

Listening to Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Commotion…

Looking ahead, there are 9 weeks until Start of June when the sun will be setting at 8:27 pm with dusk at 9:01 pm. On that day in 2016, we had partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 85 and 57 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 74 degrees. We hit a record high of 94 back in 1918.
