June 8, 2016 7 PM Update

Good evening! Currently mostly cloudy and 60 degrees in Albany. Windy, with a stiff breeze running around 26 mph the west-northwest. While not the nicest evening, I think it was a pretty good day.

Going to be relatively cool tonight. There is a chance of isolated showers before 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48. Breezy, with a west wind 18 to 23 mph decreasing to 11 to 16 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. The normal low for tonight is 55, so it will be about seven degrees below normal. The record low of 37 occured back in 1977.

Tonight the sun will set at 8:31 pm with dusk around 9:06 pm, which is 36 seconds later than yesterday. Almost the longest day of the year. Tonight we have a Waxing Crescent Moon with 30% illuminated. The moon will will set around 12:01 am. June’s Strawberry Moon is on Monday, June 20th.

Decreasing clouds tomorrow but still quite windy and cool. We will be Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 69. Windy, with a northwest wind 16 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. The normal high for Thursday is 76, so it will be seven degrees below normal for this time of year. The record high of 100 happened back in 1933.

Right now, the weekend looks nice but a bit cool. Saturday will be partly sunny, with a high near 76. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Sunday, scattered showers and thunderstorms before 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 72. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Typical average high for the weekend is 77 degrees.

The lower temperatures expected for the weekend should hopefully help to keep the black flies in check. Which definitely is a good thing. I actually think a cooler weekend will be quite pleasant as long as it doesn’t rain much.

In four weeks on July 6 the sun will be setting at 8:35 pm, which is 3 minutes later then today. The average high is 82 degrees, and the record for that date is 97 degrees was set back in 1886.
