May 24, 2016 Morning

Good morning. 59 degrees and rain. The rain should be pulling out and we should see clearing skies and mostly sunny skies around 73 degrees which is a few degrees above normal. The real warm weather comes tomorrow with a high expected around 87 degrees for both Wednesday and Thursday. For Friday look for 89 degrees and for Saturday look for 90.

The higher temperatures mean an increasing number of thunderstorms. Going to be a warm one for the second half of the week but it won’t be super sticky although you’ll feel the heat more on Saturday as the dew points creep into the low to mid 60s.

Except for the thunderstorms, I expect a nice Memorial Day. Don’t forget your bathing suits and ample cold beverages. Most public beaches aren’t open yet, but there are plenty of swimming holes to hit up this hot weekend.

I decided to get an un-amplified PA speaker for my truck. The one I got was only about $20 and based on the reviews should be reasonably load but decently weather resistant for hanging under the truck. It has a standard headphone-type jack, so it should be just plug and play. Where it will be mounted (the only place with adequate space) is down by the bumper, exposed to mud, rocks, and road salt, so I don’t want to want to spend a fortunate on something that might get damaged.

Still planning to head to Vermont for the long weekend.  I have a particular campsite in mind — I want something that will be fairly remote, with a decent breeze and good tree cover. It’s going to be a hot weekend, but I’ll probably spend some time swimming in Grout Pond. I guess I could go to the Adirondacks, but I’m bored with Moose River Plains, and honestly, this time of year the black flies are bound to be bad. MRP for Independence Weekend though I expect.
