First oil change on the SuperDuty! 👷♂️
Dropping the SuperDuty off around 8 AM to get the oil changed at the dealer for the first time. I feel kind of funny doing it right away, but I figure now is the time to do it with the well engine broken in, and then from here on out do it every 5,000 miles or probably once a year, with the next service at end of March. Still I feel silly having a shop doing it, especially the dealership, but I want things documented as even the best engines are so unreliable these days.
Then I’ll catch a bus downtown 🚌 and the shuttle to work. I guess I could have the dealership shuttle me to work but I’d rather go on my own time and terms. Bus fares aren’t that much. Lunch time I’ll get the truck, assuming they let me park at campaign committee or otherwise I’ll get the truck after my afternoon meeting.
Last night I was going to go to the store and gas up the SuperDuty ⛽ with the plan being to head up to Piseco-Powley tonight, 🏕️ set up camp and then spend tomorrow working remote from Dolgeville Library 📚. But then somebody asked to look at the Big Red over the weekend – well maybe – so I didn’t want to get out of town and potentially be able to sell Big Red. Been kind of an uptick in interest in the truck again over the past few weeks. I may need to revise the price though, as the rust repairs seems to be a sticking point for many. But I would think the wheels and cap, and even the good running engine are still quite usable even if they decided to scrap the rest of the truck. Plus it’s going to rain this afternoon into the evening 🌧️ and I didn’t want to drive in the rain, and setup after dark. It’s not worth it, especially if I’m working all day Friday. And next week is Labor Day Weekend.
And then it just became I was working into the evening, 🧑💻 I was tired and I am concerned about the reliability and speed of the internet, especially with the VPN from Dolgeville Library. 📚 I am the only supervisor working in the office on Friday, and while remote should be okay, it’s going to be a busy day, and it’s possible I’ll need to swing by the office regardless to do some things in person especially if the VPN fails on my 10 year old laptop. 📶 I am not sure if I want go up to Piseco-Powley on Friday evening, as that less guarantees my chance of getting the House Pond Campsite where I can float all day from on East Canada Creek. But maybe it’s silly, because I’d be working all day Friday, so Saturday is the only full day I’d spend up there.
I started looking a new and novel things 🥾 I can hike and explore near Burnt-Rossman in Schoharie. I’d like to camp and hike but I want new visats, away from the crowds of the main Catskill Mountains. AI has some ideas, though I’ve tapped most of them in the past. Schoharie is better in the sense I’d have cell service 📱 which is kind of useful as while I expect the bulk of work to be wrapped up on Friday, weekend projects do come in. The next 10 weekends I really can’t afford to be totally offline with work. 🔕 And it’s a lot closer then Piseco-Powley. A week from Friday, unless the whole weekend looks like heavy rain, I am still pretty set on heading up to Speculator before work, setting up camp, working all day, then enjoying Labor Day Weekend – hiking Snowy Mountain either on Saturday or Sunday. Never dun that before. 🗼 Schoharie this weekend might be nice to get one more swim in at Mine Kill Pool, maybe float on the Schoharie Creek and hit up Shauls for produce. 🍆 🌽 🍅
