Like a weekend of rain threats 🌧️
Walking back to my bike at Five Rivers Environmental Education Center, I am a bit disappointed that it will be another summer weekend stuck in town – but rain or maybe not tomorrow. But hopefully next weekend is better and I will have taken Friday off and spent the day swimming and hiking, and this will be the second night camping. And in two weeks it will be the second night in the Finger Lakes.
Summer is going to fade fast, it always does when August is underway. Tomorrow I need to solidify my stragety for getting rid of Big Red to a good home, I have leads but no solid deal worked out. Most the people in the market for a rotted out, now old lifted Silverado are pretty tough on their luck. I don’t consider myself affluent, I live in a pretty rundown apartment and take the city bus to work but I realize I’m a lot better off than many even if I idolize the redneck life. Many days my net worth fluctuates more than what I’m asking for the tired old truck. But I have 15 years of memories tied up in Big Red and I want him to go to a good home. I know he can be fixed and be good for some one who needs or wants a big lifted truck.
Summer vacation will be great. I’m looking forward to that day trip I’ve planned to Pennsylvania on vacation, also want to spend a day poking around Elmira and Corning more, need to research that more. Ever since I got in that crash 12 years ago with Big Red and then put the lift kit on him, he never quite drove right in my mind, always had such fear of breaking down. Now not so much but I do got to be careful next week heading out on the Thruway to Schoharie after work. I saw a crash on 787 this afternoon, riding my bike home from work. I do like Pennsylvania though, it has a very different feeling and philosophy from the uber liberal New York beyond rednecks burning noxious shit. And then that Ohio and West Virginia trip sounds like fun come November.
Tomorrow is a new day. And next weekend is a new weekend. Travel while I still can. And read that book on solar and goat farming while it’s just a future thing.
