I feel so broken, let me go home 🐺

Sloop John B. Been listening to a lot of Beach Boys as part of my summer sound track on bicycle commute to and from work in heat which is supposed to peak today, indeed I am up early this morning so I can ride in before the worse of the heat.

Up at 5 AM this morning, πŸŒ… mostly because the sun was up early, it was a hot evening last night, got home from the park relatively early 🏞️ and promptly fell asleep. Actually awake before 5 AM but that was when I started cooking down the cornmeal πŸ₯ž pancakes. I am going, heading in early to beat the heat.

My hope of getting the truck cap this week, much less before Juneteenth Weekend has pretty much evaporated at this point. πŸ₯€ Maybe I will hammock camp this weekend, πŸ₯Ύ I am still considering that going to be pretty mild, and I have my hammock, bug net and blankets, so I could certainly do that. Still it’s so frustrating, 😀 especially as I have the deposit in on the truck cap, and it’s rather expensive but it’s what I want for my truck, even though everybody is like well have a F-350, so why no slide-camper or roof-top tent? Because I liked the set up of old Big Red and but I didn’t want to do a lift kit. But fuck ARE, though I knew there would be delays to get the truck cap with those Outdoorsman Windoors like my old truck has.

So maybe Juneteenth Weekend I could get my tent out, maybe my hammock, or stay home and work on wiring up the truck. πŸ•οΈ I am kind of undecided at this point but a lot depends on the weather and timing of everything. Maybe I’ll help out on some of the primaries, depends on if I get asked. At this point, I’m just hoping to have things up running for that last week of June so I can do a test run before I head out for Independence Day Weekend 250. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ I need to get a bunch of sparklers πŸŽ‡ to give to my team for the holiday, and ground fountains and other pleasantries to shoot off in the wilderness half stoned come Independence Weekend. I am thinking Moose River Plains for that the 250th, but a lot depends on how the truck is doing – plus I kind of crave some place a bit more remote – as many of the campsites at MRP are pretty cramped together after all my years true wilderness camping. 🐺 Plus I don’t want to be too far form a swimming hole where I can float on my tube. πŸ›Ÿ

Truth is I am thinking once July gets around, that’s the time to go-go-go, πŸ•οΈ once my rig is finished. I do need to sell or get rid of my old truck, but I can do that most likely on weekdays/nights when I’m around. Worse comes to worse, there are scrapyards and Carvana to sell it to. I am having a bit of pause over the Michigan Trip – just figuring out a reasonable route and where to overnight in Ohio or Michigan – and just how long the drive will be some of those days. 😴 In some ways the lazy option of just going to the Finger Lakes for a week or a week and half seem so relaxing – just many days hanging out at camp – though I’m so bored with doing the Finger Lakes after now decades of going out there every summer.

Riding in today, 🚴 and depending on how hot and stormy it is by afternoon, I’ll either ride home or bus it home, though I think I’d rather ride home and stop at the grocery store on my way home. For Friday I’m undecided, considering taking the SuperDuty to work and then driving down to Henry Hudson Park and laying the hammock next to the river if it’s truly ungodly hot. Well, it’s another day, let me shower 🚿 and ride in before it gets too ungodly hot.
