Fords love their factory carpet delete on their pickups 🛻

The factory “carpet delete” option is significantly less common on Chevrolet trucks than on Ford trucks. While both manufacturers include vinyl/rubber flooring standard on their base-level work trucks (like the Chevy Silverado Custom/WT or Ford F-150 XL), Ford makes it incredibly easy to delete the carpet on premium trim levels. 

Trim Level Availability

  • Ford Trucks: Ford offers a direct “Carpet Delete” or “Vinyl Floor Covering” standalone option across nearly its entire lineup. You can check a box to get heavy-duty vinyl floors instead of carpet on mid-tier models like the XLT and Lariat, and even on ultra-luxury, high-end trims like the King RanchTremor, and Platinum. Ford even pairs these premium vinyl floors with full sound-deadening insulation underneath so you don’t lose cabin quietness.
  • Chevrolet Trucks: Chevy strictly gates its vinyl flooring by trim level. If you purchase a mid-to-high tier Chevrolet—such as an RST, LTZ, Trail Boss, or High Country—you are forced into a carpeted interior. Chevy does not offer a factory standalone “carpet delete” option on retail-oriented luxury trims. 

Market Strategy & Packaging

Ford treats the carpet delete as a utilitarian luxury for buyers who use expensive trucks for farming, construction, or outdoor recreation but want an interior that can be wiped clean in seconds. Chevy, on the other hand, packages vinyl flooring strictly as a “budget/fleet” feature, assuming that retail consumers purchasing consumer-focused trims prefer traditional carpeted luxury.
