More about Snowbowl State Forest...
The Snow Bowl State Forest, spanning 797 acres, owes its name to a former ski area that once thrived nearby. Established by St. Lawrence University in 1937, the Snow Bowl ski area grew in popularity, featuring downhill slopes, ski jumps, and Nordic trails. For decades, it was a beloved local hotspot, but attendance slowly dwindled, leading to its closure in 1982. The area changed hands in 2007, marking the end of an era.
