Three Nights Camping 🏕

Most of the time recently I’ve been planning my trips around three-nights of camping. I find it is a happy middle ground for trips, as I can head up early on Friday or Saturday and stay until a Monday or Tuesday. Three nights has some distinct advantages:

  • First off, for camping in NY State Forests it does not require a permit or any pre-planning of the trip.
  • It provides two full days at camp, with the first day set up, second and third day for whatever around camp, and the forth day for take down and heading home
  • Ice in all but the hottest weather in the coolers will survive four days if well packed with ice. In cooler weather, things are good without any worries at all.
  • Four days is a reasonable amount of clothes and food to pack — not too much but it’s not like your packing for a day or two, having to take things down shortly after setting up.
  • Makes the trip long enough to be worthwhile to drive a few hours to your destination.
