Another hot ol summer day ☀

Another hot ol summer day ☀

Okay it’s still May but next week is Memorial Day Weekend and it’s already feels like summer with another day in the 90s expected. I wouldn’t care if I was up by a swimming hole but I’m in town this weekend.

Out for the morning walk bright and early 🚶 before it get’s too hot on this Sunday morning. It’s mostly cloudy and 73 degrees 🌥 at 6:30 AM although I expect it to be warmer before later on.

Yesterday I tabled for most of the day at the Albany Pine Bush Preserve’s 2022 Lupine Festival. 🦋 It was the first time they’ve done it since the panademic, and it sure was a hot one. The mercury pushed into the mid-90s, and you could just feel the heat radiating off the dunes. It was a hot day.

I have to admit I was late to the Lupine Festival 🗺 as I was studying the redistricting maps released on Friday evening. Lots of things to study there.

I heard that Mark Platt one of the founding members of Save the Pine Bush 🦋 passed away last week. I had no idea he was sick, but apparently got cancer and died pretty quickly. He was older.

I also went up and visited John Wolcott at his new place up in Colonie. 🌲 It really is way out there, a long ways from everything up off of Sand Creek Road. He’s doing well, though he’s pretty much legally blind and often has trouble finding words due to his memory problems getting worse. It was nice to visit him in person, though it sure is a bit of a trip up there, not very pedestrian friendly and I don’t like driving in the suburbanite traffic, especially with gas prices these day. ⛽

Today I will go out to the folks house for Sunday dinner later on today, 🍔 but in the mean-time probably just sit by the fan and stay cool. I have been studying up on data.table, which is an R library that is fast for reading large data files into memory and manipulating them, compared to tidyverse which is much slower. 👨‍💻
