Stretching the entire length of Vermont, the Long Trail stands as the oldest long-distance hiking trail in the United States. In Vermont, it intersects with the Appalachian Trail (AT), commencing at the Massachusetts border, a short distance north of Mount Greylock.     • Stratton Mountain is a nice trip if you do the loop and check out Stratton Lake too. More challenging might be the AT from Woodford VT 9 to Glassenbury Mountain.
