They still haven’t plowed the sidewalks on my street. 🌨

Yes, from the snow storm that hit last Wednesday. At least between county plows pushing back the banks on my street I can do my morning and evening walks in a counterclockwise fashion although I still don’t like walking along the road after dark, even if I can step in snow bank and its pushed back two feet from the road.

The Foxfire Book Series That Preserved Appalachian Foodways : The Salt : NPR

The 1,500-mile Appalachian Mountain range stretches so far that those on the northern and southern sides can't agree on what to call it: Appa-LAY-chia or Appa-LATCH-ia. The outside perspective on the people who live there might be even more mangled. Stories about Appalachia tend to center around subjects like poverty, the opioid epidemic and coal, but since 1966 a series called Foxfire has been sharing food, culture and life as it's actually lived in the mountain region.

Electric vehicle battery cost officially dips under critical $100/kWh price point but there’s a catch – Electrek

Electric vehicle battery cost officially dips under critical $100/kWh price point but there’s a catch – Electrek

In the auto industry, it is generally accepted that $100 per kWh for battery packs is the price point needed for electric vehicles to be cost-competitive with gasoline-powered vehicles.

Now electric cars are already more cost-effective than gasoline vehicles based on the total cost of ownership for many people depending on use cases thanks to much lower fuel costs.

However, the $100 per kWh battery cost price point is critical for the wider adoption of electric vehicles by making EVs cost-competitive at the sticker price, which is an important psychological barrier for many buyers.

President-elect Joe Biden publicly received his first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine on Monday as the death toll from the disease nears 320,000 in the United States.

Rolling up his sleeve at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del., Biden told nurse practitioner Tabe Mase, "I'm ready!" and thanked her for her work with COVID-19 patients. "We owe you big, we really do," Biden said.

Biden said his wife, Jill, also received her first vaccine shot Monday.
