I am going to vote for libertarian Jo Jergenson for President 🗳 🗽

I think I am going to vote for libertarian Jo Jergenson for President 🗳 🗽

While I think Joe Biden will be a better president than Donald Trump, I don’t think it really matters who I vote for president in New York with the electoral college and the fact that Biden is widely expected to win New York by a million or more votes than Donald Trump, driven by the deeply blue New York City.

I think voting third party advances alternative ideas and gives third party candidates more prominence in the future. I think both Biden and Trump represent old ways of thinking and doing things, that we need real change in our country and its not going to be advanced by the two party system. We should look seriously at third parties, especially in low stake elections in non swing states.

Lately I’ve been voting libertarian a lot more, in part because the party has automatic ballot access in New York State and because I am attracted to many of its ideas calling for a smaller government. I know when I own my own land and the off grid property I am going to want to be left alone to farm and hunt my land, take care of things responsibly without a lot of government involvement. I want my gun rights to be preserved, to be treated with respect by my government and for the right to be left alone.

Nothing is going to change whether or not I vote for Biden. While having a bigger popular vote margin gives Biden more bragging rights it won’t overcome the electoral college. So I feel like it’s my right to vote my conscience, even if I fully understand that Biden is vastly superior to Trump.
