Being Internet famous 🙉

Being Internet famous 🙉

My collection of maps, photos and information about the bdck country on the blog has made me internet famous. It’s kind of fun.

I get a dozen or so emails each week with questions on state and federal lands, sometimes comments and thoughts about things I have written, mostly positive a few mean spirited but I don’t care.

I guess I didn’t think that much about it until one day I was on the Thruway heading out to the North Syracuse office for work and somebody stopped me and said, “Hey, is that Big Red, I love you’re blog.” Or when I ran into some people at Moose River Plains who was a fan of the blog too. Or that person I ran into on the trail looking for advice one of the other trails.

I think it’s kind of fun working on maps and discovering all there is to enjoy on the land. Running into people who read the blog probably isn’t that surprising in light of the fact that they’re here probably because they’re interested in same pieces of land off the beaten track that I’m interested in exploring.

I kind of enjoy sharing my experiences and telling my thoughts and experiences about the world around me. Mapping is fun because it helps me gain new knowledge of the land, further tailor my skills and provide a useful guide to others. While I refrain from home internet service, I don’t mind paying the web hosting service, as it gives me a chance to analyze, think and dream amd share my thoughts with the world.
