Both the Fox Lair Campsite 2 & 3 were taken, the one with the mountain views and area overlooking the gorge. The other Fox Lair large field campsite was also taken. It seemed like some people were passing by looking for a campsite earlier too. I saw people hiking along the East Gorge Trail and some fisherman hiking back off of NY 8.

Its not been a super nice day to boot. While it cleared out in the evening, it’s been a cold day, with the first half of the day rather gray and with snow flurries. Unless you are a big fan of winter camping, hardly a great day. But then again, winters are usually long and cold in the Adirondacks and one can’t expect much warmth until the black flies come out in May.

I am sure people just want to get away. They’re just tired of all the Coronavirus hub bub and don’t know when back country camping or travel via automobile may be banned. The wilderness is definitely a refreshing place for people to be.
